Martha and Dale Brown
About Martha and Dale Brown
Martha has been coming to Topsail since 1958 when her parents built a 'cottage' on the island not far from Slip Away. She remembers practicing how to tie shoes while the family moved in the furniture. So naturally, when Martha and Dale began dating in 1977, she brought Dale to the island. In 1985 Martha and Dale, Mr. and Mrs. Brown by then, bought that little cottage from Martha's mother, but by 2003 they decided it was time for something more modern and larger for themselves and their two teenagers, so they moved a short distance down the road to BeachBreeze. Martha and Dale currently live on Newcomb Lane in Lewisville, North Carolina.
Martha and Dale Brown purchased this House in 2011
Why Martha and Dale Brown chose Surf City
In 2011 the opportunity arose to purchase Slip Away and we jumped at the chance. Slip Away is located in one of the nicest neighborhoods on the Island. Few neighborhoods have access to both the ocean and the sound. In addition to that, Slip Away has its own private boat slip and a boat launch just a few steps from the front door. Located on a quiet street with only one other rental home, this is the perfect location for a family vacation.

Slip Away is a keeper
Slip Away is a beautiful, well maintained and immaculately clean home in a quiet neighborhood. We enjoyed the access to the beach and sound. The owners are responsive and friendly, they thought ahead and provided everything would need for our stay. We will definitely return!
Great time at Slip Away as always
Always a great experience! The owners are great and responsive. Love the location even though not ocean front, since we have jet skis and kayaks. The house suits our family perfect and has been our home away from home for many years now.
We love this property
We have stayed here almost every year for the past 7 years. We rent with friends and we take turns renting. Close location to the sound and the beach. It always has everything we need. This best part is the owners. They are always very quick to respond to any question or need. Great rental for family or friends!
We had booked another house, but our reservation fell through when the repairs to the house due to the hurricane last fall were not completed on time. We thought we were out of luck since everywhere we looked was already reserved until we found Slip Away. Its repairs had just been completed, and the house is completely new on the inside and absolutely beautiful. Our stay was terrific, and we will definitely return. Talk about making lemonade out of lemons!
Great house! Everything looks brand new. Kitchen was well stocked and great for cooking.
Vacation home with a personal touch
The Browns are wonderful owners to work with. They patiently and promptly answered all my questions. The house is lovely and the location is great. Even the neighbors are friendly! Mary J.
Topsail Island is located between Morehead City and Wilmington. In addition to the beach activities available on the island, you will find many interesting activities along the coast of North Carolina. In the Wilmington area consider a visit to the WW II era USS Battleship North Carolina and the NC Aquarium. Both great fun for children of all ages. History buffs will enjoy visiting Ft. Fisher, Brunswick Town, and the historic homes of Wilmington including Orton Plantation. Traveling north to the Morehead area you can visit the NC Maritime Museum and the 2nd of the state's three aquariums. New Bern, NC's pre-colonial capital, is home to Tryon Palace and additional homes dating to the 1700's. Are you a lighthouse buff? Visit the Cape Lookout lighthouse near Morehead and the Bald Head Lighthouse in Southport. Contact us for more information about these and other possible day trips in the Topsail area.
Other Activities: kayaking, shopping, jet skiing, dolphin watching
