Keywords: Quaint. Quiet. Tranquil. These words don't even scratch the surface of Falling Cedar Cabin and its environment. Buried deep in the slopes of Palomar Mountain, this cabin is a respite from everyday life. Let the surrounding trees and wildlife nurture you outdoors while the cabin soothes and stills you on the inside where amenities abound, providing tender ease and comfort. Once the glowing embers in the wood-burning stove warm your bones after a long healthy hike, you won't want to leave. The cabin sleeps 4 comfortable, we have 1 bedroom (queen bed) and 1 sleeping loft w/queen bed (see photo of loft)
My husband and I found the cabin in 2000, it had been neglected for over 20 years. As a general contractors ,my husband, Don had a vision of what the old 1930's cabin could become. We added glass tile back splash in the kitchen, granite counter tops, refinished the original hardwood floors and added comfortable furnishings, all the amenities you need to have a wonderful vacation. CHECK IN AT 3:00 AND CHECK OUT AT 12:00
Mary Jo purchased this cabin in 2000
I have been traveling to Palomar Mountain since I was a child. My family camped at the State Park every year. The State Park has great hiking trails. My family was so happy when we bought the cabin, now we will be able to have family reunions on the mountain again.
Our cabin is situated in the back country of Palomar on 3 acres, very quiet, great for naps and bird watching. I'm sure you will enjoy our cabin and the Mountain as we have for many years.
Our cabin is located off the main paved road on a private dirt road. Our dirt road has been regraded and surfaced. I drive a Volvo S40 and have no problem getting in and out(always drive slowly on dirt roads). If you are coming to stay in Nov. you should have an all wheel or 4 wheel drive, just in case it rains or you get some snow. Our property is off the beaten track and that is why people enjoy it. The Cabin is a Very Quiet place to be. While you are there enjoy Hiking, mountain biking, bird watching, deers walk thru the property, watching the stars at night of the deck, worm yourself in front of the wood burning stove, travel up the the historic Palomar Mountain Observatory (Hale Telescope)
My wife and I wanted to write you to tell you how much our family enjoyed staying at your cabin last weekend. We really enjoyed the peace, quiet and solitude, and our daughter loved the breeze in the trees, the wind chimes, and the sounds of the birds. It was exactly what we hoped it would be, and we can definitely see ourselves visiting again and again. Like we wrote in the guestbook...you are lucky to have such a place, and we feel blessed that you share it.
My Husband and I were looking for a quiet weekend get-away and found everything we were looking for at the Falling Cedar Cabin. The cabin is small, but is packed with wonderful amenities- great bed, wonderful kitchen and perfect deck for viewing the colors and sounds of Fall. Off the beaten path, the Falling Cedar Cabin is a great vacation from the hustle and bustle of things. Tips for future guests- the cabin is best reached by SUV and don't forget to bring your own coffee and grinder, the espresso machine is great, but a bit complicated to work before your first cup of coffee :)
This was a great get away for our 1st wedding anniversary. The cabin was very clean and cosy. Sitting by the fire at night was delightful. We would deffinatly stay here again and highly recommened for couples or small families.
Lovely location, comfy cabin with a wonderful deck in the trees! Slept on deck under the trees and stars. Had to cut our stay short and Mary was kind enough to allow us to pick another weekend to stay! Class act!! Thank you for your lovely cabin.
We just spent a wonderful weekend in this cabin. It was just us and the woodpeckers in the wilderness. So quiet and serene, there was plenty of time to relax, read, and nap. The kitchen has just about all the utensils and cookware you will need...including a pitcher to hold sun tea. The stove is better than mine at home! We did make a trip down the hill to the casinos one afternoon. They are close enough to make it there, gamble, and get back in a couple hours. We will certianly make a trip back to Falling Cedar...we would love to go back when it snows.
We (family of 4 with 2 dogs) spent a quiet weekend at this cabin. The cabin is VERY well equipped and we hardly heard a sound from the neighboring cabins nor could we see any other signs of people from the windows or deck. Access was very good too. It was our first visit to Palomar Mtn and it is indeed a special place. Overall I would highly recommend this cabin.
In the midle of no where.... Just WOW !!
We really enjoy it !!!
If you want to relax and do a lot of NOTHING this is the perfect place 👍👍👍👍
There are many hiking trails on Palomar Mountain and around our cabin. You can go Fishing at Done Pond in the national park with a fishing license. The hiking is endless in the park. The Palomar Observatory is perhaps the world's most famous astronomical observatory. Since the 1930's it has been, and continues to be, a center of astronomical research.
Be sure to visit the Observatory.
