Sea Kayakers - Sea Kayakers can easily launch at the beach.
This is the third time that we are here this year and we absolutely love it! The house is practically in the ocean. Wow!!!!
The location is as good as it looks in the photos, no question, and it is secluded except for the lobster boats which will come by to check their traps from time to time. We did visit Acadia/Bar Harbor two days, but this is a good hours drive and the location of the house was so good we didn't really feel the need to spend too much time away. There are two small markets around 15-20 min from the house and they were fine for the basics, but make sure you stock up on your way through Ellsworth (we stopped a Hannaford supermarket). And stop at Riverside Cafe for some pie.
It feels like this house is on the very edge of the rock cliff, over-looking the ocean, providing amazing views from most rooms. Newly designed kitchen is wonderful! Property manager and owners are great to with with. Can't wait to come back!
We enjoyed a superb week at this home. Our group was a family reunion with 10 adults and 4 children, and we fit pretty well, although some of the kids slept on the floor in sleeping bags and in a travel crib.
The location is quiet and private, a mile from a sleepy fishing village and right on the water. The views are unmatched and the house is set up to showcase the views with a huge wraparound porch, 2nd floor porch off of the master suite, and lots of comfortable deck furniture. We rented kayaks from Acadia 1 Kayaks (also highly recommend!), which delivered to the house, and spent most mornings paddling up and down the harbor. We saw seals, bald eagles, and a variety of waterfowl. There are a few neighbors down the road, but we only saw them from our kayaks as we were paddling back to the house. Although 30 minutes from Ellsworth and 60 minutes from Bar Harbor, the house is very close to Schoodic Point, Winter Harbor, and Prospect Harbor, which are worth exploring and offer much beyond the overdeveloped side of Acadia.
The kitchen is well equipped with many items I didn't expect to find including a spice cabinet and muffin tins. There is a large easy to use gas grill on the back porch.
The master suite is expansive and has unbelievable views of Prospect harbor. The two downstairs bedrooms with queen beds are spacious with private baths. The other two downstairs bedrooms (bunk bed and twin rooms) are quite small, but adequately furnished.
The bathrooms are all up to date and comfortable. There is no bath tub (only showers).
The sauna is great, we got it up to 200 degrees and used it most evenings.
The two living rooms are adequate. The sofas and chairs are not super comfy as mentioned in prior reviews, but to be honest this was one of the few minuses, and didn't factor much into our stay, as we spent most of the daytime outside hiking and boating.
Our family got to enjoy the best of Maine at this beautiful Shorefront Home. Only two of the visitors had ever been to Maine before, but it was easily shared and enjoyed by all. The views were the best we ever had, and the weather was perfect, even the two rainy days!
Beach surf provided us a lovely spot for our fall getaway. From the first morning light to the spectacular sunsets, the views were breath-taking. Almost every room on the harbor side provides wall to wall windows. We spent many days watching the lobster boats head out at dawn, the seals bob up and down right out in front of the house, and sitting on the deck at sunset with a glass of wine or two. (We also saw dolphins and a bald eagle!) Other days we headed to Cadillac Mountain or Schoodic Head for hikes and sunrise photos; I wish we could share those. So beautiful. We also bought lobster in Winter Harbor and lunched at the Wrinkled Pickle. So many memories. We would definitely recommend Beach Surf.
Located near the tip of Cranberry Point in the sprawling coastal town of Gouldsboro and close to the tiny fishing villages of Prospect Harbor and Corea, this beautiful, spacious and contemporary home sits on 20 secluded acres. Enjoy the spectacular views of rock crashing surf, shore front and views of open ocean and of Acadia's Schoodic Peninsula. Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are 45 minutes away and towns of Milbridge and Ellsworth have the closest movie theaters and are 20 and 30 minutes, respectively. This house is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes from Bangor International Airport.
