Guestbook comments from the owner

The condo was absolutely beautiful and had so many upgrades. The king bed was so comfortable! The bathroom has double sinks and the tile work was amazing. As a matter of fact, I took pictures of it because I want to renovate my bathroom at home, and do something similiar with the tile! The kitchen has everything you could possibly need to cook in.

Sapphire Beach is the most beautiful beach I've ever seen. Snorkeling was wonderful! We saw sea turtles & sting rays along with tons of angle fish! We fed the fish & they ate right out of our hands!

We loved the condo & can't wait to come back!

Excellent stay!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Sapphire Beach Resort was just wonderful! VRBO was really easy to use and convenient to talk to Kim, the owner of the condo we rented. Everything was just as it was pictured and as she had described to us.

The condo itself was well-kept, spotlessly clean, and at the BEST location ever on the beach!

We were very happy with our stay and would come back again in a heartbeat!

Condo nice, but something is going on here!!!!

  • 3 of 5

The condo is perfect, right on the beach. It is also well supplied with great appliances. The mattress is extremely firm if you like that. The bad part is that the cruise ships constantly everyday drop many groups of passengers off right behind your back deck and the beach area is extremely full. This totally takes away from privacy. Something is going on with this resort property, and it is obvious from the run down tennis courts you see when you first pull onto property. The actual condo is great, but I personally had 8 people wandering around the back of condo dragging their luggage and asking me "do you know where we check in at?" like I said something is going on at this place, but you will never find out what it is. I would say the condo is good, but experience not so much.

Owner's Response: We're very happy that you liked the condo itself! We work very hard with our wonderful property manager to make sure the condo is updated and clean. As for the issue with large amounts of cruise ship people, we can't control that. Beaches on St. Thomas are public. St. Thomas' tourism industry relies on the money generated from the cruise ships. You'll find Maghan's Bay beach, Coki Beach, Sapphire Beach and several other popular beaches crowded when Cruise shops are in. We suggest going to the pool that overlooks beautiful St. John. The pool is for registered guests and owners only. We also suggest shopping in the duty free shops in Havensight and Charlotte Amelia or take a passenger ferry to beautiful St. John. The exterior of the five condo buildings have been completely restored and upgraded in the last 3 years by the Sapphire condo association. Unfortunately, the owner of the tennis courts has not kept the tennis courts in good shape. The Association is hoping the owner cleans them up soon. Sapphire Beach condo's are owned by individual owners. Apparently owners are not giving clear instructions to their guests on how to access their condos. It's terrible that guests have to lug their luggage around trying to figure out how and where to get into the condo they rented. We give our guests final instructions 7-10 prior to their arrival and we use a key less entry system on the front door. Allowing ample time for guests to ask any questions they may have BEFORE they arrive. We also provide two phone numbers for our property manager and my cell is provided ensuring any problems are addressed immediately. Thanks for staying in our condo, we're glad that you liked that it is right on the beach and clean!

Could not have asked for more!!

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing time here! The condo was just as described, completely renovated and modern! The kitchen had everything we needed for quick breakfasts and lunches! The location is unbelievable - when we first opened the blinds on the sliders, we could not believe how beautiful the beach is!!! It looks just like the picture - the beach was never crowed, not even when the cruise ships were in port - Sapphire Beach is a destination for cruisers, as we were told, but it never impacted our stay. We were very close to Red Hook and all that it has to offer - grocery store, restaurants, and the ferries. We took the car barge to St. John day - was fun!!! The pool is very nice, but with the gorgeous ocean, we did not go in the pool! We found a really great local bar with amazing food too - Latitude 18, it's right on the water and has live music every night! Sapphire Beach was our first trip to the VI, and was a truly memorable experience - the condo was perfect and the location could not be beat!!!!! Will definitely come back here again!!!!

Amazing location, rennovated kitchen and bathroom

  • 5 of 5

This condo was fantastic! Great service from the property management company, beautifully decorated (kitchen and bathroom have been renovated), and kept up well. I believe this property welcomes adults only, which is probably why it was in such good shape. We rented three condos for a family event, so my parents (no kids) stayed in this one. Snorkeling gear was in a drawer for us to use, which was great because Sapphire Beach is a prime location for snorkeling on St. Thomas. The big bonus of this condo is that it's a first-floor unit with direct access to the beach. Furthermore, the beach is not crowded and the resort is quite safe. Pool included, a small cabana for breakfast and lunch (good food), and amazing water and views. Loved it! Try renting jetskis in the marina on site--the owner/operator is great! Red Hook is a short drive (or bus ride) away. We had rental cars for shopping and getting around the island, but be forewarned--if you arrive at night and aren't familiar with St. Thomas (they drive on the left and roads are very narrow, steep, and curvy), take a cab to the resort and rent a car the next day. I will totally go back to Sapphire Beach!!

Paradise Found

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough good things about our trip and our experience here. The condo was great and in good condition. It is in such a prime location! This was our first trip to the U.S. Virgin Islands and it won't be our last. Our objectives were to relax, have fun in the water and eat good food:) We had originally wanted to explore St John and maybe the B.V.I as well but we had everything we needed here at Sapphire Beach. We love the accessibility of being able to rent snorkel gear, kayaks, paddle boards and other. We are not ones who can spend a whole day laying on the beach so it was great to be able to feel the air conditioner intermittently and in between our fun in the sun. We were able to see turtles, rays and fish here. So glad we found this condo!!

We do have one suggestion: replace the mattress on the bed. It is as hard as a rock and completely uncomfortable.

Suggestion for those who have never been to the Virgin Islands or from what we've heard any Caribbean Island: Bring OFF as well as sunscreen. My husband got eaten alive but I only got one bite. Apparently he was tastier:)

Sapphire Beach was beautiful

  • 4 of 5

The condo and beach looked just the pictures. We loved the first floor views, having the place for chairs/snorkles/etc out our door was fine. Didn't really block anything. Great trees for shade and several large iguanas around. We really didn't see much snorkeling. Kept getting yelled at to stay off the coral as I wasn't on the coral. Finally understood the guard meant swim around the coral! The condo was great for 2 people, but we had 4. The pull out couch was horrible to sleep on, thin and noisy. We put the cushions on the floor and slept much better. We were only there from late wed to early sat, so we planned on eating out and exploring every day. However I was not as comfortable with driving on the left with the many hills and turns - so we kept close. We drove to red hook and had dinner at a irish bar. Was going to duffy's, but parked in the lot on the opposite side and was told that we'd have to move if we wanted duffy's. No way was I moving that car again. After dinner the guard said we could go to duffy's now. The music sounded fun, but I couldn't drink and drive so we went home! Had dinner at Iggy's, bolongo bay on wed night. It was buffet night and it was horrible and $ 38. That included entertainment that was fun. You need a car as you can't walk around the island and cabs are expensive. There is a local cheap bus that takes you everywhere but you have to walk up a LONG HILL to get to the top of Sapphire Beach.

Definitely look for the pool, especially if cruise ships are in port. One came in on a day it was not expected and there were people everywhere! We were there in low season, so the pool bar was closed and they were remodeling the building by the pool. It was loud, but didn't bother us.

For me, It was great to go once, I might go back to this condo if there was only 2 of us, but then there are so many more places to explore. If St Thomas is a island you want to explore, you need at least a week, a car and then SB is a good place to stay.
