About Malynda Williams

Hello~ We are John & Malynda Williams. John just retired from OilField Construction and I retired May 2012 from Xerox- Kyle Office Products in Sales. Our careers took us many places in our 17+ years together and the Texas Gulf Coast was no exception. As a matter of fact, 7 years worth. In August 2008, John had a group fishing trip scheduled (of which he hooked a delicious AmberJack) so we decided it would be a great weekend getaway and perfect opportunity to visit our Cousins, Tim & Julita and their new home in Rockport. No sooner hugs were given, our Cousin Tim said, 'You too can Live like this!' Well, between John's successful fishing trip and my great memories & love for the ocean, we went house hunting. So, we said 'Y KNOT', a week later we signed a contract on our home in Aransas Pass. We bought a boat and of course we named it, 'Y KNOT!' Wanting to share this experience with others, In April & August 2010, we purchased two properties so we could do just that.

We are the 3rd owners of this 1964 home and it is filled with history. The first owners built it from the ground up and rebuilt it after Hurricane Celia with what they could gather. Viola, a 1 BD/1 Bath with a kitchen was now a happy home. In 2008, the wife had an Estate Sale, and the Second owners bought the house outright at the sale. Completely renovated and updated from electrical, plumbing, cedar siding, laminate wood & tile floors, new appliances, laundry room, 2nd Bath, 2nd bedroom, Central AC/HT, 10 ceiling fans, to name a few. Even with all the updates, this 1600 sq. ft. home is very well laid out with some personality from the 1960's. So, what are you waiting for, Y KNOT GetawaY? Thank you for visiting our listing, we hope you will consider our home for your next getaway. 'YOU TOO CAN LIVE LIKE THIS!' Kindest Regards, John & Ms. RED Williams

Guestbook comments from the manager

Thank you Ms. RED for accomodating our last minute plans. Your home was neat and very spacious. The kitchen and the shady backyard over looking the water was my favorite. Of course my husband and children enjoyed fishing and swimming on the private dock. We will be back!

Thanks again- Kelly

Houston, Texas

clean as a whistle, well located, amusingly decorated, responsive owners!

  • 5 of 5

Loved our stay. Everything about the place was as promised. Missing a carafe for the coffee maker and they brought a new coffee maker over in a couple of hours. Great back yard and dock for our two dogs. All the appliances work. Only (minor) issue is that the wifi service is slow, but on vacation, not a problem at all. Really well stocked, including outdoor propane burner and combination charcoal/gas grill and smoker. We did not fish off of the dock, but I'll put in a plug for the fishing guide service, Chasing Tails fishing, owned and operated by Andy Hernandez. Had our limit of trout and redfish in about 3 hours.

Highly recommend.

What an amazing place! My family will definitely be back.

  • 5 of 5

As soon as my family walked in the door, we felt right at home. The house was decorated in a beach theme with bright colors. The rooms were clean and spacious. There was plenty of seating and space for my family to sit at the table. The bathrooms are updated and decorated nicely. The outside seating area was beautiful too! We enjoyed watching the boats go by early in the morning. My husband used the fishing lights on the dock while fishing at night. There are some bushes in the middle of the yard that block part of the view of the canal, but overall it is an amazing backyard. The dogs enjoyed running around the back yard on the St. Augustine grass. I definitely recommend this beautiful home.

VRBO is the way to go and YNot is the leader in professional service.

  • 5 of 5

The house was clean and tidy. Well stocked. The boat dock was an amazing feature that we used each morning and each evening.

It was hummingbird migration and the tree/bush outside with the pink flowers had an abundant amount of hummingbirds present all week.

The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. The beds were comfortable, I took a nap on more than one bed. The couch's were very nice.

All in all our week long stay was so awesome, we hated to leave but we are confident we will be back. Shempy's, the best burger!, is right across the street. The Groove in nearby Fulton was fine dining at its best. The shops in Rockport were unique. The Texas Maritime Museum was very interesting and informative. Goose Island State Park and The Big Tree, over 1100 years old was a pleasant tour with numerous birding opportunities. Rosita's on Market street was the best Mexican food we tried. JJ's breakfast on Market street was also amazing, their homemade salsa is worth buying and taking home. And the fishing right out the back door was very good. Mangrove Snapper, Flounder, Redfish, trout, catfish and the two really big ones that got away!

Malynda was impressive from the first interaction, sending directions, checking on us after check in, and on check out to make sure their were no issues. In fact I guess one of the yard workers damaged a water line while cutting the grass but George showed up for YNot and politely knocked on the door and introduced himself and explained the repair process. When they were finished George gave me his card and said I could call anytime if there was another problem. The YNot family is completely professional and courteous. VRBO is the way to go and YNot is the leader in the VRBO experience.

We will use them again. After all YNot go with the best!

Bad pun I know but a true story.

Super Clean House, Great fenced back yard and dock. Sraight shot out of the canal to open water.

  • 5 of 5

The house was very clean and smelled great. The large fully stocked kitchen was great for cooking for the 11 of us. There are only 2 bedrooms, everyone else sleeps on the 2 hide-a-bed sofas in the living room as well as the trundle/day bed in the sun room. The back yard is fenced well (great for bringing your dog along.) with lots of clean outdoor seating to hang out outside. The concrete dock and fish cleaning station were of the best quality you can find in vacation rentals in the area. Lights and electrical plugs are located at the dock. If you bring a boat it's a straight shot from the dock out to open water and the inter costal. The house sits almost exactly half way down the length of the canal. Only complaints I have is that a beer pong table is in no way a half size ping pong table and I found no horseshoes to play as listed in the description. Otherwise, the entire house was well stocked with plenty of towels and the kitchen has everything you could possibly need. The nearest boat ramp is about 5 miles north off HWY 35.

Lesson learned - poo smell, A/C broke and no deposit refund?

  • 1 of 5

I had chalked this up to a 'lesson learned' on this place and moved on without reviewing it. Then I saw the owner recently gave me a poor review as a guest after I asked for a refund on the kayak! I complained that the smell of open sewage at the canal entrance at end of the street prevented us from enjoying the kayak. While she investigated immediately and determined it was technically not open sewage, she agreed the smell made her gag, as well. She refunded the 50$ for the kayak, but only after screaming at me on the phone. I wasn't going to review it, but here goes: no A/C for a day, ran out of toilet paper ('you shouldn't need more than 2 rolls'!), no pepper in the 'fully stocked' kitchen, no fishing gear, I assume she didn't refund my deposit, either, looking that up now. Not only am I not going back to Rockport because of this person, I'm never using VRBO again. Don't need the stress of people like her on my vacation, and I refuse to paddle through poo.

Owner's Response: I definitely appreciate your review and the opportunity to address your concerns. For you and future guests I take your comfort very seriously. Due to the extreme heat and the level one lowers the temp of AC we have challenges time to time. I was unaware that they were without AC on the 4 year old unit. I state clearly that I need to know immediately when there is a conflict or repair needed. Once it was brought to my attention I had a service tech within 45 minutes and it was a 10 minute fix - a capacitor had burned out. this guest was elated and thanked me, via text, for me speedy response. Unfortunately these things happen in all homes and I apologize for the inconvenience. And take pride on taking care of unexpected challenges. As far as the smell, I agree it is terrible. I attempted to explain that this is not was not on my property, in fact it is approximately 14 lots away on private property. It was not sewage it is an inlet off the main canal and a sign of a healthy bay as the sea floor lets go of the sea grass and it gets trapped in inlets and end of all canals of the Texas coast this time of year. With the sun and stagnate stacking of the grass, a smell develops. I have no responsibility to the RV park inlet on private property. As for the open pipe flowing water in the inlet, it is a circulation drain for the bait wells. Meanwhile, I could not give a full explanation as I was interrupted excitedly by guest. I understand that she was upset, yet this was a great distance from this home and I have a private dock and a swim ladder to enjoy the Kayaks that I provide. I gladly refunded the $50 rental fee for their July 1-5 stay. Since it is an inlet, it is not possible for her to paddle thru this body of smelly grass. We stock our homes well. We provide 2 rolls in addition to the active roll per bathroom, which is a total of 6 rolls for a 4 night stay with 7 guests. You can see from nearly 6 years of reviews that our homes are overly stocked with paper goods, trash bags, linens, variety of spices to name a few. I do not advertise fishing gear. No I have not refunded her the $250 deposit since the home was left in a terrible condition, ac on 65, trash throughout home, pet pooh in yard and pet hair everywhere, doors left unlocked and ceiling fans and lights left on and fridge was a mess. My check out policy clearly states a few helpful tips to lock down the home upon departure. It breaks my heart to know that this guest is upset & never come back.
