5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago for a stay in October 2014

We were skeptical at first since we had never rented a cabin before & didn't know what to expect. I have allergy so i couldn't stay anywhere that had a musty smell. Richard, who owns the cabin was very honest saying that the cabin would ok for me.

When we arrived we were absolutely amazed, it was everything we wanted it to be. Loved the rocking chairs on the front porch, had a great view of the pond. The setting was wonderful, you're in the woods, but close to town. It had a running stream a few yards from the cabin, loved that.

Every morning we were greeted by 12 Turkeys, unbelievable. Had every utensil & supplies you could possibly need, no need to bring anything.

The cabin was very comfortable & super clean. Chimmey Rock was close by with cute shops & restaurants on the river.

The fireplace was great, wish we could have stayed longer. Would highly recommend this cabin, loved it more

Clean, cozy, and quiet

  • 5 of 5

My sister, mom, and I rented this cabin with our two dogs and had a wonderful stay. The house was very clean upon arrival and was one of the most well equipped rentals we've ever experienced. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to use all of the available amenities like the hot tub or fire pit because we simply ran out of time! We did attempt the hot tub one night and saw that it was clean and in good working order, but got too tired and ended up in bed. The drive up and down the winding road to the house is like a fun amusement park ride (follow Richard's directions, GPS took us beyond the house). We agree with another reviewer that the living room and master bedroom can use more light. Also, the bathtub is set higher than usual and can be difficult for people with physical limitations to get in and out of. Nothing a sturdy step stool can't fix. We enjoyed breakfast on the porch every morning. If you have a courageous dog like mine, she might leap right off the porch through the open rails in pursuit of a rabbit 😰?🐶?. Richard answered all questions thoroughly and promptly. Wish we could've stayed longer. We would definitely recommend this cabin!

Just what I expected!

  • 5 of 5

Cozy, clean, and all the necessities. ONLY suggestion would be a little more lighting in the living room and master bedroom. Far enough away to enjoy solitude, but conveniently located to Asheville, hiking, BRP, Lake Lure (a must visit pontoon rental). Less than 30 mins from virtually everything. Highly recommend.

Great cabin in the woods-- relaxation at its finest.

  • 5 of 5

Convenient location for the local attractions, but, still felt we were up in a mountain secluded from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We enjoyed our stay.

It was a nice peaceful place to stay

  • 4 of 5

As with so many places the pictures make it look bigger than it is. It's an older cabin that has been kept up well with some updates. I feel that it was worth the price. We wanted to relax after hiking and being gone all day and it was perfect for that.

Great weekend getaway!

  • 4 of 5

Several friends and I went on a long weekend getaway to Asheville/Hendersonville and had a wonderful time! The house was great for a quick trip and we really enjoyed our stay. The game room was not available to us and we only used the main house. Everything was relatively well-kept and we loved the cabin feel. We loved the hot tub, which was very clean. A wood pile would have been helpful to have so we wouldn't have to buy firewood to use the fire pit. Our one main issue with the house was the fact that everyone had to be awake or everyone asleep because of the way sound travels in the house. From the second floor we could actually see light coming through the floorboards and could hear/talk to people talking in the kitchen downstairs without raising our voices. It didn't turn into an issue for us, but it's something I think others should be aware of. That said, we loved staying here and would gladly return.

I also have to say how beautiful it was. We stayed in mid-April right when all the flowers started to bloom on the property and it was gorgeous. We also loved seeing all the apple trees in the area with their fresh blossoms. A warning to those unfamiliar with the area: this house is fairly secluded. There are no street lights and at night it is very dark. The roads are long, steep and wind around large bends so be prepared for that as you get closer to the house.

We also loved the Asheville/Hendersonville area. Both downtown areas were so cute and we loved walking around. We explored several of the wineries (We loved Burntshirt the best!) and visited the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, which was really fun and one of the highlights of our trip. They had a gorgeous outdoor space with a balcony, patio, plentiful seating (including rocking chairs) and live music. We also went over to the Chimney Rock State Park one morning and climbed to the top. We thought it would be more of a hike, but it was actually all stairs, so we still got our workout in for the day. The views were amazing and I highly recommend heading over there if you're in the area.

Overall, we loved our visit and would stay again.
