About The Owner

My Husband and I have been together over forty yrs.. I am from St Thomas V.I. ... And he is from California.. We were in the Horticultural business many yrs and love Tropical flora, we enjoy traveling, photography, surfing, and meeting interesting people. We have a good knowledge of the Puna area and would enjoy sharing many of the beautiful places that the big island has to offer..

Liz & Steve

Why The Owner chose Puna District

We love the lushness of the Puna area, And the unique Island life style.. Where you can drive through enchanted Mango forests or swim in lava warmed ponds, see the beauty of waterfalls or the magnificence of an active Volcano all in one day...

What makes this house unique

Our property is gated and private... the fruit trees and palms are over thirty years old, and you can pick avocado or mango almost all year long, also there are bananas, passionfruit and many other edible delights and blooming plants to wander through in our Gardens while staying at our Ohana....

The property was so beautiful, peaceful and lush!

  • 4 of 5

I really enjoyed this property! It was very clean and comfortable. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that I barely had any cell phone service. However if you are there to just have fun and enjoy the island who needs it! This is a great place to hang your hat, let go and relax! I would definitely recommend this rental. Your hosts Steve and Elizabeth are wonderful and very accomodating! Aloha!

Great get away

  • 5 of 5

Liz and Steve were such gracious hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed our "home away from home". We loved the fresh bananas, the chickens, the frogs, the geckos and let's not forget Larry and Tucker! Thanks for making our stay so wonderful, hope to be back again!

A beautiful place to stay!!!

  • 5 of 5

Steve and Elizabeth were such wonderful hosts!!! This house had everything we needed (microwave, pots and pans, dishes, spices, full size refrigerator, dishwasher, plenty of towels, TV with satellite, etc.). It was clean and spacious and they even had some boogie boards and snorkeling equipment (and yummy bananas, the best I've ever had in my life, freshly cut from the tree). This was a great location for the big island having every attraction pretty much a good drive away from one another. We loved the serenity and the sounds of the night! We had a great time in Hawaii!!! I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone! :)

Nature Sounds, Garden Delight, & Great Location

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Turtle House. I especially enjoyed the sound of the frogs and birds. We were greeted by frogs and gekos when we went outside each day. I ate a tangerine right off a tree the first morning. My husband enjoyed the many fruit and flower trees and bushes, and was accompanied by their very friendly cat and dog each morning when he went on a stroll. My husband even found a great book to read from the bookshelf while we were there, and I was grateful for wifi. It was very comfortable with the fans at night to cool us down, and we enjoyed keeping our windows open to hear the nature sounds at night. I liked the location too - in between Hilo where we enjoyed the Wed / Sat Market, and Pahoa where we drove along the coastal beaches one day and visited the volcano another day. The Turtle House was perfect for our needs while on the Hilo side of the island.

Great place for exploring the Big Island

  • 5 of 5

The rental is not far from Pahoa and Keaau, with good access to Volcano NP, Saddle Road and Hilo, and tucked away in the forest. It's pretty spacious, was clean and functional and the bed was comfortably firm. There were guests upstairs in the studio, but they were pretty quiet. The owners, Steve and Liz, are very friendly and easy to talk to, but they gave us our space as well.

Cellphone service was spotty, but the Wifi worked well. Great place for the price.
