About connie 720-998-7272

contact Connie 720-998-7272

connie 720-998-7272 purchased this cabin in 2005

Why connie 720-998-7272 chose Bayfield

After camping around Lake Vallecito for many years, and staring at this historical cabin next to Graham Creek Campground. I knew that place could be my heaven here on earth. Back when it was just a bunk house for the ranch hands working the cattle ranch where Lake Vallecito exists today. In the years that followed rooms were added, including a kitchen. You can still look around and see some original walls and décor. The property is a half-acre however completely surround by BLM and National Forests . The most spectecular view of the Needle Mountains and the Lake.

What makes this cabin unique

We offer a paddle boat, two new kayaks, hot tub, canoe.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Wow what a Beautiful Place. The views from the upper deck were so fantastic. The forest is all around you. We walked right out of the Cabin to the Lake. Fishing was good. Our Dogs had a blast ! The Cabin is quaint and has everything we needed. Hot Tub at night you can see the stars unlike the city. Our only complaint is we couldn't stay longer.

Paradise found!

  • 5 of 5

Search no more, this place is the best you'll find in Lake Vallecito! (And I did my homework with days of searching websites.)

The location is ideal for a quiet remote getaway, but still only a 1/2 hour drive to Durango. We loved having a private beach just steps away and the hot tub was a plus on those chilly mountain evenings. The views are breathtaking and the outdoor space has tons of seating so you can enjoy the lake from several areas in the yard.

The bed and furnishings were all very comfortable with lots of outdoor seating to enjoy the views. The owners were extra accomodating and attentive to our needs. They have furnished their cabin with all the amenities you need plus lots of cool extras - a heated, bidet toilet seat, TV's in every room, paddleboat, grill, gas firepits, etc.

Be sure to visit Ska Brewery in Durango - free tours at 4 PM (We are big fans)! Also take a drive out to Mesa Verde and up to Silverton (or ride the train.) Lots of fun things to do in this area for families. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Boats, beauty, tranquility..."On Golden Pond"

  • 4 of 5

Our family of 4 (my husband and I & our 2 boys (11 and 5)) had a wonderful week at this gorgeous location in a lake side cabin--a breath taking spot on Vallecito lake that is sublimely quiet with no other homes or cabins around. It is next to campgrounds, but we never heard the campers (though a few stopped by to check the place out). It is surrounded by National Forest and has some easy trails that go along the lake shore. We saw an osprey nest, deer and lots of birds and butterflies. The home stay includes 3 kayaks (2 individual and 1 double), a canoe, and a paddle boat. Our boys LOVED the boats. And they have lifejackets--for adults and children. We fished at the shore and from the boats and unfortunately only caught one smallmouth bass, but we hear that they have trout, pike and bass. There is a private sandy beach area just down from the cabin (maybe an hundred feet) where you can go out from on the boats and fish and swim--the water is a bit cold, but fine once you're in :-). There is a nice grill just ouside the kitchen to cook off of and a gas fire pit to sit around and roast marshmallows. I particularly enjoyed a swing that looks out over the lake where I could catch up on some work on the laptop--if you have to work on vacation, at least it is so nice to have a beautiful view to look up at! The cabin itself is as some have mentioned, a bit quirky, but as Brad the owner explained, some parts of it are 110 years old and it was constructed in stages by previous owners. Brad has done a lovely job at refacing the outside of the cabin in a beautiful log cabin style. The kitchen is surprisingly well stocked for people who actually want to cook, as we did. The bathrooms are incredibly small, as others have mentioned. But, if you think of it as fancy camping, it still is a treat to be in such a remote location and still be able to wash up! They have Wi-Fi, but it was quite slow when we were there. The king size bed in the downstairs bedroom was very comfortable, although it takes up most the space in the room. Our boys really enjoyed the loft-like room on the second floor, which has a nice deck off of it. That is the only thing that is on the second floor. We did not end up using the hot tub. It is a scenic 35 min drive north of Durango, so you can ride the Durango and Silverton train or enjoy restaurants. We stopped at the Coop for our groceries on the way up. Brad and Connie were helpful and friendly...we hope to go back next year!

Ideal retreat to relax and view wildlife

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend, my 16 year old son and I spent a long weekend at Connie's cabin and we wished that we have had the whole month. The land that the property sits on, is beautiful with lush grass, amazing lake views and even its own little private beach where you can lend the canoe and kayaks safely. We really enjoyed being on the lake every morning. It is so serene. In the afternoon, the storms would roll over, but they stopped on time to watch the sunset from the hot tub which also has a wonderful lake view. My son absolutely loved his upstairs bedroom with the A frame ceiling and its own private deck. We really enjoyed the king size bed downstairs and the stove which warms us up during the storms. The BBQ is covered and right by the kitchen. We saw many birds including a wild turkey, hummingbirds and a bald eagle. I really recommend this destination, especially if you are a nature enthusiast.

Amazing quiet lakeside cabin!

  • 5 of 5

This was an older cabin, but very clean! The views were amazing off of either deck facing the lake. The bonuses of a jacuzzi on one deck and canoes/kayaks for your private use was wonderful. The house is locate at the end of a dirt road just past a campground - so was extremely quiet, which I greatly appreciated. There are a few restaurants around the lake which made for nice, quick, and easy get aways when we didn't feel like cooking. A wonderful retreat and we'll come back to do it again! - Debbie
