I loved the property and want to retire here l.
We had a wonderful vacation. The house was just as described. Its very nicely furnished with incredibly comfortable accomodations. It was so nice and relaxing even with the rain some days. We hiked a few times and went for a long kayak tour on another day. We enjoyed going into Bar Harbor, but the Crocker House was just excellent, and so charming. But spending time just looking out at the ocean was nice too. You have a beautiful location there, it was really peaceful and quiet. We really enjoyed the lovely private patio...away from it all.
We had a wonderful stay with beautiful scenery and a superb view! The house was well maintained and clean. We had one issue with the smoke alarm which was addressed immediately by Volunteer Fire Dept, neighbors sent by Landlord where we met a local lobster Fisherman whom we purchased a fresh caught lobster and whom gave us great advice on how to cook our first Lobster which was delicious!! I highly recommend this place as you will love it!
Just returned home from a wonderful stay at the Hancock house. This is our 3rd time to Maine and 2nd time staying in one of Judy's rentals. The house is in a perfect location close to everything from Bar Harbor, to Ellsworth (shopping), to Eastport. The house itself has amazing views and walking the beach every morning for treasures was a treat. The house has everything you would want for a relaxed vacation. The house was very clean and tidy. The only issue we had was that the wifi would not work despite Judy and I trying to get it working but honestly it was nice to "unplug" for a while and focus on our family and our surroundings. We hope we are able to stay again soon as we already miss being there. You could not ask for a better person to rent a house from. Any questions or concerns you have Judy is always prompt to respond and address any concerns. Thank you Judy again for sharing your little peace of heaven with us.
This is a great property and place to vacation in Maine. Great owner, extremely clean, all the amenities you would want and a view to die for .Close to restaurants and less than an hour to Bar Harbor and Acadia .Great to sit back , relax and enjoy the view. Would highly recommend this to family and friends.
Beautiful, light, airy home with a stunning view, spotless and well maintained! Breathtaking sunrises and sunsets seen from the master bedroom and living room to be enjoyed with the gentle lull of the waves and ocean breeze. The property owner Judy was friendly, courteous, and very attentive leaving us with many useful tips on local eats and activities. Call Babe for fresh lobster and make a point of buying the 7 day pass for Acadia National Park. Be sure to hit Cadillac Mountain Peak and Sand Beach, they're unforgettable! Stop in the charming town of Bar Harbor for ice cream (lobster flavor if you dare!) and shopping. If you're looking for natural beauty and tranquility this is the place to stay. We hope to be back next year!
The location couldn't be better. It's a peaceful place with a gorgeous view.
We were four adults, two children, a baby, and a puppy. This home was perfect for us. It had everything we needed.
First of all the house was spotless, very clean and well maintained. The kitchen has everything you need, if you decide to cook. The master bedroom view is just out of this world. In our time there my daughter wanted to stay in the master bedroom all the time in the rocking chairs enjoying the view. At night, in my case I really enjoy the sounds of the waves when falling asleep.
The owner Judy was amazing from the begin to the end. She checked on us and gave us excellent tips from kayak rental to where to buy fresh lobsters for an inexpensive price.
Acadia National Park is a MUST to go. it is about 25 min from the house. It cannot be seen in one day. I recommend to buy the 7 days pass for cars ($25.00). This way you can drive through the park anytime during 7 days.
If you are traveling with kids and plan to cook, don't take a lot of thing with you because there is a Walmart a short drive from the house.
Bar Harbor is beautiful small city where you can buy great gifts and have the best ice cream.
Maine is a perfect place to visit if you want to escape from a busy city life.
Thank you Judy you are incredible! We loved your home and the time we spent there. Hopefully we can come back next year.
The house was very clearly not maintained. When we arrived there were crumbs on the floor, counters, and stove; cobwebs in most every corner; hair covering the chairs and curtains; many broken items; and so on . We contacted the owner, Judy, immediately after arriving to ask that something be done about the lack of cleaning of the home. She had "professional cleaning service," which consisted of a woman named Rebecca and her daughter, come back and they claimed that they would "clean the house from top to bottom again." We left the home after the cleaners returned and after they finished it was evident that they had only done a superficial job. For example, when we arrived there was a gum chiclet on the floor of the master bedroom. After the house was cleaned "again," this chiclet was still on the floor, so clearly the floor was not so much as vacuumed. Similarly, the cobwebs that we specifically pointed out to the cleaners after they arrived were gone, but the numerous other cobwebs still remained.
We talked to Judy over the phone again the next day (Sunday) and she gave all sorts of excuses for why the cleaning was not done well. During this conversation, we mentioned that the blind in the master bedroom was broken and unusable, which given the sunrise was around 4am was a large issue. She told us that if we measure the window and text her the dimensions, she would come on Monday with a new blind and replace it on her way back from Nova Scotia, and so we did as she asked. On Tuesday she arrived at the house with no blind. When asked about it she responded that she couldn't do it herself and that she couldn't get somebody to do it until Saturday (the day we check out). This made it blatantly obvious the Judy had no interest in resolving any of our issues.
There were many other minor issues, but we feel that these major problems were sufficient to outline the incompetence and lack of care for the renters by Judy and her cleaning staff. I had included a link with photo's to show the condition of the house but Vrbo would not let me post them. I would advise against anyone renting Hancock House.

7 night minimum stay
Pet deposit due ! week prior to arrival and will be refunded 7 days after departure providing there is no damage.
Winter rental is minimum of 6 months. preference given to longer stays $900.00/mo +utilities. question email owner.
Pet/property deposit is due 7 days prior to arrival and will be refunded 7 days after departure proving there is no damage. This deposit is to prevent damage by pets and to be sure all items are present on departure :ie steak knives, silverware, glasses, and dishes. There will be an inventory given to each guest upon arrival. As for the pet policy, just follow the policy and there will be a full refund. Guest who do not have pets are very sensitive to the pet smells and pets can require extra cleaning. I think the policy I have in place, helps to minimize the" traces" pets leave.
Winter rate is for minimum of 6 months preference will be given for 8 months. The rent is $900.00/mo + utilities.
* Approximate monthly rate. Actual rate will depend on the days of the month you stay.
