Hurricane Sandy hit the Jersey shore pretty hard, but the Bay Head community (and Mother Nature) has rebuilt it's beaches, the shops & bakery are open, a new restuarant & bar overlooking Twilight Lake is scheduled to open, & 134 Bridge Ave. wasn't damaged at all. The 2016 summer season will proceed as if Sandy never happened.The Bridge Avenue beach is doing very well & will be fully opened & operational. Book now to assure your vacation spot.
Lovely, large, modernized, fully central AC'D Victorian house in quaint, quiet Bay Head. Four easy to walk blocks to super, guarded, Bridge Avenue beach. The main house front door entry lead to a large foyer with antique coat rack & sofa. Foyer is open to the right side to a large living room with two sofas,coffee table, & stereo system. Straight ahead from foyer leads to kitchen & great room area with sofa & chairs, TV, table & chairs for kitchen dining. At rear of kitchen is laundry & bath with antique claw foot tub (great for bathing little ones) & antique sink. Kitchen is new with granite counter tops, gas cook top, electric oven, spacious work island, fully stocked for all your cooking needs. Also in great room is wet bar with glassware. A sliding glass door lead to deck with gas BBQ with counter top burner, lounge chairs, dining tables and chairs for easy living and entertainment. A few steps down from the deck is the large yard with plenty of room for lawn games (croquet, badminton, bocci, etc.).
Back inside the house you enter the spacious dining room from both the kitchen & living room. Upstairs has a master bedroom with queen bed & attached bath with shower (no tub) and plenty of closet space. The front bedroom contains a double bed. The other front bedroom has a double bed plus a full sized trundle bed. The fourth bedroom has a full sized twin bed & full sized bunk bed to sleep 3. The upstairs hall bathroom has a full sized tub & shower.
134 Bridge Avenue was built in 1912 by a local shipbuilder (Johnson) whose family still live in the area. We have updated & modernized it for 21st Century living while preserving the charm of its' historic past. Our family time at 134 Bridge consists of several generations (our last count was 12 grandchildren aged 9 months to 13 years) all enjoying the peaceful tranquility of lovely Bay Head & ocean breezes. We'd like you to enjoy the same. It is expected that our guests leave the premises in the same clean condition they took at occupancy. A housecleaning service is available for an additional charge. It should be noted that our house is a non-smoking environment. Pets will be considered on an individual basis upon written request. It should also be noted that bed linens, bath towels, and beach towels are NOT included. There are six (6) adult beach badges included in the rental. Daily badges may be purchased on an as need basis.

The house is lovely & Bay Head is a charming town. Easy walk to beach & town. Bryan was responsive and answered any questions we had in regards to the house and Bay Head area. We enjoyed our stay!
I have rented this cottage several times from Bryan. He is very accommodating. The cottage is very private, clean and comfortable. Its is a good location -close to beach, little shops and restaurants in town. We enjoy going to Bayhead very much.
The property was great! Loved the location. Great backyard and deck for entertaining. Nice wrap around porch to relax on during a thunderstorm. And kitchen/family room were perfect. My only complaint is the shower door in the master bath. Fortunately I love outdoor showers so used that the whole week.
Very spacious house with a great yard. No complaints about the home at all!
Downside is location. Bay Ave is incredibly busy. One cannot sleep without shutting the windows due to the traffic speeding by. Crossing the street was a concern since we have "tweens" that are responsible enough to cross yet still not developed enough to always make the right decisions. Cars definitely drive over the limit.
Also regarding location, the first couple of nights we enjoyed the Church bells, but since we were there for 3 weeks, they became annoying. The Church is less than one block to the house, so the bells were incredibly loud. The charm wore off quickly.
If you are a beach person, it is a good location, but more if you have a bike than walking. There are better house locations that are closer to the beach. If you want to join the pool or go to the library and play ground, the house is in excellent walking distance to those. The house is also very close to the town dump, which was convenient.
The cottage is quaint and good for either a couple or ppl who need an extension to the house. It was redone nicely, but the bathroom needs a sink with one faucet as opposed to the dated one with one cold tap and one hot tap. You need to be under 5'5" without having to crouch in the outside shower bc the shower head is too low. Inside shower is like a standing coffin. It is overpriced by a few hundred. The cottage is more of a place to sleep and shower, not a place you would want to hang out for extended periods of time.
Considering the expense of these rentals, we were surprised we had to pay for cleaning upon departure. We've never experienced a rental where the owner didn't cover the cost.
Bayhead itself doesn't have any good restaurants, but the good thing is you are very close to Point Pleasant, which has many restaurants. Bayhead is a pretty town, but if I was to rent down the shore again, Spring Lake is a much more beautiful town with great shopping and restaurants.
We had a great time at 134 Bridge! The house is great, especially the porch and yard and deck out back. The house has everything you need for the beach and is a short walk. There are also plenty of restaurants within walking distance such as Shore Fresh Seafood, Theresa's and Dorcas. The owner were very nice, easy to get in touch with and provided all of the info that we needed.
I've rented the cottage on this property several times over the past few years. I found the property and met the owners through Craigslist, which we all know is a risky propersition for both parties. The property was exactly as described in the ad. Small, quaint, immacculately clean and in good repair. Well stocked with housewares with all of the amenities listed were both functional and available. I found the owners of the property to be honorable as well as gracious without being intrusive. Their residence is also on the property.We were quick to strike a deal and it was done with a hand shake on more than one occasion. This year I was hesitant to rent a shore property post "Sandy" but I called the owner of the property and he assured me that the cottage once again was clean and in good repair. Upon inspection it had been completely cleaned, renovated complete with new rugs and furniture. Once again the deal was done with a hand shake and no regrets. I have always enjoyed my stays here at 134 Bridge St. and hope to rent here in years to come.
Close to the renowned and famous Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk with it's attractions for people of all ages: kiddie rides, typical boardwalk arcade games of skill & chance, Jenkinson's aquarium, boardwalk bars(Jenks & Martell's), etc.
