About Byron Buck

Our family enjoys our Priest Lake home and has a reunion every year in the summer. It is a wonderful place for a big group to spread out, or gather together to enjoy meals, swimming and water sports, and nature at its finest. After watching the stunning sun sets, enjoy a dark sky and stars like you rarely see, and occasionally, the northern lights.

Byron Buck purchased this house in 2003

Why Byron Buck chose Idaho

Our family has been coming to Priest Lake since 1966 and it is truly one of the last best places in the West. Uncrowded, clear water, stunning vistas, incredible fishing, hiking, golf, and sightseeing. We enjoy evening boat rides to Elkins, Hills and Cavenaughs for wonderful meals and moonlit cruises back.

What makes this house unique

Upstairs deck in the pines with view of the lake. Lake is great for watersports and the surrounding mountains offer spectacular hiking, mountain biking or stream fishing

Lovely Vacation

  • 5 of 5

The only complaint I have is that we had to leave. The views from the upper deck were breathtaking. There was plenty of space for everyone. The cabin has a fully equipped kitchen. It was like cooking at home. The stairs to the beach might be difficult if someone has mobility issues. I actually enjoyed the stairs because it was the only exercise I got (since I never wanted to leave the dock) and it made it feel like we had more space, if you needed a little time to yourself.

Best family vacation

  • 5 of 5

I live in CA and have gone to Lake Tahoe my whole life, but I was looking for something like Tahoe sans all the people and development. This was it! Priest Lake is one of the most beautiful places in the US and this cabin provides unsurpassed views and access to the lake. From the large outdoor dining deck to the campfire area to the large dock extending onto the lake, there are plenty of places to be and relax. In fact, all of us adults were relaxed almost immediately despite having traveled all day with two 6 year olds and two 3 year olds. The kids jumped into the lake within minutes of arrival. The lake was the perfect temperature, yet clear and definitely clean.

The cabin is located at the perfect location at the lake--not too far a drive in, but almost in the middle of everything by boat. The cabin is not fancy but is quite cozy, and includes washer and dryer, 2 full bathrooms, and lots of beds and places to hang out. Each of the 4 adults on the trip took at least 1 nap on the green couch. The kitchen was totally stocked and I found myself surprised that I didn't mind cooking every single meal (except 1) for 8 people. It was just an easy place to be. There was a lot of fridge space so that it was no problem finding a spot for all the food we picked up at Costco on our way in. It was a really easy place to 'move into' and just be.

We played a lot of games, some of which are at the cabin. We went huckleberry hunting. We rented a pontoon boat and tubed around and went to the upper lake and to the resort right across the way. We seriously sat on the dock for HOURS every single day and everyone in our party was completely satisfied by that. We roasted marshmellows and hotdogs down at the campfire and then the kids jumped in the lake for an evening swim. The BBQ is brand new and made some delicious hamburgers. The dock chairs were AWESOME!!!!!! You haven't really lived until you've dangled your feet from a chair floating over a lake with a drink in hand, watching the sunset or just watching the nearly empty lake and mountain views or watching your kids splash around or your friend get thrown into the lake because she's not sitting in a chair attached to the dock :) FUN times!

One of my favorite parts of this trip was how it almost felt like camping, but we slept on beds and had showers. It was the perfect combination of comfort and enjoying the outdoors, especially with kids. Great vacation! Will definitely be back.

Slice of heaven

  • 5 of 5

For a slice of heaven, this is the place. Right on Priest Lake, this cabin provides relaxation, recreation, and retreat. It’s equipped with everything you’d need to create the type of vacation you envision –whether it be a romantic getaway, a family reunion, a hangout for teens or college students, or an escape from work. Our stay involved a reunion of high school friends with plenty of room for several couples and with people solo. We enjoyed the motorboat, the kayaks, the paddleboat, and canoe. We had happy hour on the deck where we could soak of the sun and dangle our feet in the water. The upper wraparound deck was perfect for our outdoor BBQ’s, and the indoor dining area was still large enough to seat all of us. The kitchen has everything you need to make gourmet meals. The cabin is an easy drive from Spokane and Coeur d’Alene. I hope to bring other members of my family back to enjoy the perfect vacation rental.

Something For Everyone

  • 5 of 5

I live near Sacramento, California and have vacationed at this lakefront home with family and friends four times over the past ten years. Priest Lake is readily accessible given its close proximity to Spokane Airport and definitely has something for everyone. My favorite memories include: catching large trout off the boat dock; seeing moose and bald eagles; and watching amazing sunsets from the upper deck off the house. The house is stocked with everything you need and after a quick stop at the grocery store you will quickly feel at home and find yourself planning your next visit. Enjoy.

Fantastic Cabin and Dock!

  • 5 of 5

Our week-long stay at this property was relaxing and fun for our family renunion. The views from the dining area, kitchen, 3 bedrooms, and outside deck is absolutely beautiful! Sunsets and storms both were breath-taking to watch.

The cabin is rustic and charming, clean and comfortable. The dining and living space is so pretty, with comfortable furniture, books, a fireplace, and pieces of artwork by local artists. The bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and downstairs "den" are all very basic, but comfortable. The cabin has everything you need. There is outside furniture for grilling and eating out on the deck. The owner is very helpful!. He has a binder in the cabin with maps, hikes, boat information, the area's history, etc.

We enjoyed eating outside on the deck, and sitting out on the dock (for the best views of all). The natural beauty is truly awesome. We had a small boat with us, and rented a pontoon party boat one day for the entire group to tour Upper and Lower Priest. (So great to have a dock!!) The Thoroughfare (stream between the lakes) is gorgeous, as is Mosquito Bay.

We loved the hiking!!! There are hundreds of wonderful hikes with amazing views of wilderness in all directions!

It was a fantastic week, with so much to do. Our family can't wait to head back up to Priest Lake, and we will definitely want to stay at this cabin again. This slice of heaven is highly recommended!!

Loved it! We've been back several times.

  • 5 of 5

Listing is spot on. We've experienced all of these pleasures, and that's why we go back. What is difficult to describe is the beauty and serenity of the place. The lake is Tahoe Blue, but not so cold. Bring your binoculars to see bald eagles. Restaurants around the lake are fantastic, and there's a really nice golf course. Fly into Spokane and drive about 2hr. Suggest getting your groceries in Spokane or one of the other towns along the way, as shopping at the lake is a little limited. It's probably not the best place for someone in a wheelchair due to the terrain and stairs down to the dock. If you have someone physically challenged, they can enjoy nearly everything from a single floor, however. Enjoy!
