Featuring a cathedral ceiling, the living room is adorned with plush comfortable couches and chairs, handsome rugs, and elegant furnishings including two gorgeous decorative mirrors. There's plenty of seating for family and friends to delight in the mountain views or watch their favorite shows on the large flat-screened TV while enjoying the warmth of the wood-burning fireplace.
The dining area extends across the end of the living room, just outside the kitchen. With tasteful artsy décor, the kitchen has the feel of an urban café. With upscale appliances and cookware, the cook will have a delightful experience in the kitchen. There's an attractively decorated bedroom on the main level with a queen-sized bed, windows, a TV and interesting pictures on the wall. The two bedrooms upstairs are also quite charming. One has a king-sized bed, the other a full-sized bed. A full bathroom is conveniently located on each of the three floors.
The entire lower level provides a great place to escape for some fun and relaxation. There are couches and chairs for more TV watching. Set up a game of monopoly or Jenga on the coffee table. There's a table and two chairs for brunch or maybe an afternoon tea. At one end of the room is an exercise area with wall mirrors. After a good workout, you'll want to head into the sauna for some well deserved relaxation.
The Hideout community offers outstanding amenities, including a ski lodge with skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing. On weekends and holidays, skiing and snowboarding lessons are available. There's cross country skiing and ice skating, weather permitting. The community has a private 9-hole golf course so be sure to bring your clubs. There's a clubhouse and pub, known for gourmet food. The new recreation center features a state-of-the-art fitness center with sauna, indoor tennis, and game room with ping pong, a pool table and arcade games. In warm weather you'll enjoy two pools, two sandy beaches, six lakes, boating, fishing, hiking, outdoor tennis, volleyball, basketball, handball, bocce and shuffleboard. The lodge has a Sunday brunch that people die for.
The area has all that country living has to offer, with close proximity to quaint villages and bustling cities. Very scenic with sprawling farms, horse stables, historic homes, antique shops and nearby marinas on Lake Wallenpaupack. Close to NYC, this home is 140 miles from Manhattan and 170 miles from the Suffolk border on Long Island, a 2-3 hour drive by car.
The 3 day rental for this property was well worth every penny. Bill (the owner) is super helpful and friendly and quickly gets back to you regarding any question that you may have about the house or the surrounding amentias. The house was clean, comfortable and well appointed. My family and I had no problem settling in and enjoying the BBQ, the sauna, the play den in the basement, and hanging out in the kitchen and living room making meals together. The house is on a quiet dead-end street, so no traffic out front to worry about. In addition, we also had badges that allowed us to enjoy the community pool and beach at no extra charge. Truly made for a relaxing get-away with the family. Highly recommend it.
We rented this house for a weekend family getaway and were very happy we did. Bill the owner, was awesome to communicate with before, during, and after our stay. He even had central AC installed days before we arrived which I had inquired about months before. The house met all of our basic needs and was one of the few that was pet friendly (we brought a toddler and 4 yappy Chihuahuas along for the ride). I would definitely consider staying here again. Thanks for everything Bill!
Small town area was what we were looking for. A gated community, not so much.
The house was musty and cold. When we entered we were hit with the musty smell of the basement.
The upstairs was better but still musty.
The house was clean and kitchen supplied. Decks nice. Lots of shade.
There was no heat. We were cold in the evenings and at night. We did not bother with the fireplace.
Probably would have been much better in warmer weather, would have been able to open up the house.
Neighbors are closer than you think.
The community seemed nice if you are living there, odd as a brief vacation spot.
We had a great stay at Bill's place in the hideout. The lake was a great escape from the regular life. The grill was in operation, and the house had ample space for all of us.
Wow! That is the start of all I can say. This place was gorgeous in the summer! A great, quiet, peaceful retreat. Some of the amenities include a private beach and private heated pool within the gated community of "The Hideout." The basement is not only perfect for kids but adults as well! They have a pool table, dart board, and other miscellaneous games as well as an ample sized sauna. There is a very spacious rap around deck great for having small get togethers with friends/family. They provide a full service grill so all you need is the food! There are three bathrooms, one on each floor for your convenience. Amazing views of wooded surroundings. The entire home was cleaned and well-maintained and the owner was extremely helpful with any questions and made themselves available even during the stay to help with any needs or questions. I know I was only able to give 5 starts but they deserved more than 5 for sure. A great place to vacation in the summer, safe and welcoming community and a truly wonderful experience!
Staying at this place, my family and I had one of the greatest times of our lives. The house is in good condition, cozy....The owner kept in touch with us during our stay, whenever we had any questions or concerns. Most significantly, we felt welcome! Definitely would recommend this place to anyone desiring to relax, to anyone with a big family and/or friends. Surely, we will mention and speak highly of this place with our relatives! Thanks a bunch to the owner for providing us, his customers, with his time and for representing a responsible, dedicated, warm form of relation toward his customers/renters! Thank you Bill!
The activities in the surrounding area are exceptional. Five minutes away is year-round horseback riding and a highly regarded children's petting zoo 'Claws and Paws'. There's a family fun park with paintball, miniature golf, bumper boats and a driving range. There are great restaurants, a casino just 30 minutes away, an outlet mall, antique shopping, wineries, and much more. In winter, you are 30 minutes from Sno Mountain, a terrific resort with 30 trails/terrains and 7 lifts. Fifteen minutes away is Tanglwood; less than an hour are Elk Mountain, Big Boulder, Camelback and Shawnee.
