After working several years as a 911 Operator and Dispatcher with the RCMP, I have decided to focus my attention on my vacation rentals, traveling, and improving my foreign language skills. I love meeting people from around the world and enjoy the opportunity to learn a new language. I currently speak (beginner) Italian and Japanese. I am passionate about ballroom and latin dancing here in the Comox Valley. My lovable black lab keeps me motivated to swim at the beach, hike the woods and our favourite past time, snow shoe on Mount Washington.
Karen Robinson purchased this townhome in 2011
The Perch on Birch is located on one of my favourite avenues in Comox. With the Comox Golf Course at the end of the road leading to a lovely pathway and the many fauna that make Birch Ave their home, it is somewhat of a haven. I have always made a point of passing by this property on my walks since 2003, each time thinking it would make a great rental property. When the property came up for sale in 2011, I did not hesitate to purchase it. After much hard work, my dream to turn two of the units into beautiful vacation rentals was realized. The gardens are now looking beautiful as I continue to transform this once neglected property into a lovely Comox gem.
Although Comox Vallley is not a large city, it boasts some of the finest restaurants offering many delicious cuisines. Having several of these restaurants in walking distance makes for a wonderful outing while staying at The Perch on Birch.
The Comox Airforce Base is used by the famous Snowbirds every April. Some of their incredible patterns can be viewed right from the rental property. This is the perfect place to stay during Vancouver Island Music Festival held every July as you are steps away from the bus stop and a few minutes drive to the shuttle bus parking lot.
The annual Filberg Festival and Comox Nautical Days held every August long weekend (BC Day) are just a few blocks away. This makes it ideal for guests to enjoy the festivities in a carefree manner without the hassle of parking a vehicle.
A five star rating goes to The Perch on Birch again for our second stay here. Centrally located within the town of Comox in a very tranquil setting, facilitating an easy walking adventure to the Filberg Park or downtown Comox. This has the location to everything! The friendly owner goes out of her way to ensure all guests are taken care of from check in time to check out. The property is spacious, with many plants and a private sunny lawn. Very clean living space with particular attention paid to detail, thoughtfully decorated. We both enjoyed our 1 month very quiet stay with a very comfortable bed to sleep in. Thank you for all your hard work!
You have thought of everything .
Thank you , I love staying at The Perch..
Our stay at the Roost was too short. Tucked behind a fence on a quiet street on a lovely yard are two delightful suites. Comfy sitting area with kitchen, laundry, close to town and the most comfy bed.
What a great find in Comox BC! The Perch on Birch is a perfect 'apartment' to stay while you fall in love with Comox and surrounding area! It is stocked with everything you will need. Karen is a wonderful host and was very helpful and available if we needed her.. The location is close to all the shops and restaurants, beaches and the Comox harbor. It is cozy, comfortable, and very clean. Thanks Karen for this incredible place to stay!
Exceptional hospitality, couldn't want for a thing, literally. Cute, clean, warm unit, great for a winter stay too! Walking distance to shopping, restaurants, golf course and water! We stayed at Christmas time and the suite came tastefully decorated for the holidays! Loved it!
What a find! My husband and I spent two nights in this delightful cottage for a family reunion in Comox. The cottage is immaculate, you could eat off the floor. Beds (including fold out couch) were very comfortable, linens were beautiful, kitchen and bath were well stocked including cookware, lovely dishes and glassware, basic pantry items, even shampoo, etc., in bathroom. Karen the owner is wonderful. She lives next door if you need anything yet you have total privacy as a guest. The location is perfect: close to the village but in a quiet neighborhood surrounded by a lovely large garden. Karen recommended a visit to the Saturday Farmer's Market in Comox and it did not disappoint. Just ten minutes drive from the cottage and lots of fun. Great beaches, restaurants, everything is close by. If you love dogs and miss yours back home you can even borrow Karen's darling black Lab "Scooter" to read the paper with you in the garden, as my husband did both mornings. We will definitely rebook this cottage on our next trip to Comox. Thank you Karen!
