This house is intimate for two yet can handle 10 people with ease. There are 4 separate sleeping areas. Be sure to ask about the layout of the rooms so they meet your needs. The hideabed has a memory foam mattress and all the beds are comfortable. Built in 2008, the house has tons of character. There is leather furniture, stained concrete floors and oriental rugs. You will find the fully stocked kitchen as complete as yours at home. The gardens are extensive and fascinating to wander through, with a large fenced yard for pets and small children.

About Kathie Murphy

My husband is a retired surgeon and I trained dressage horses and ran our breeding and boarding barn. We have a 100 acre ranch outside Ashland where we board dogs, raise sheep and run cattle. We bought the land in Crescent City, cleared it, then built this as a second home. The development of the gardens have been a joy for us.

Why Kathie Murphy chose Crescent City

Crescent city has so many things to see and do. It is also close enough for us to go back and forth. The climate is very different from Ashland and is a welcome change from inland weather.

Notes:
The house is surrounded by gardens set in the tall trees and on 2 and 1/3 acres . It is private yet one mile to the ocean and minutes to the redwoods.Town and restaurants are very close.The away room is surrounded in glass overlooking the gardens and wild life.There are 2 bicycles and a fire pit along with a picnic table and more chairs for outdoor fun. Excellent place to stay for visiting coast and redwoods

Family enjoyed nice little cottage. Plenty of space for the 5 of us with a beautiful garden around the home. Enjoyed visiting the Jedediah Redwood State Park and coast.

Great Cottage!

This is a quiet and awesome house to stay at. We were working in town and had a great stay. Had everything you need. Very private and plenty of space. Has a huge yard and beautiful surroundings. Close to town but yet you feel away. Minutes from the beach. We were very lucky to find this house to stay at. I would recommend everyone to stay here. Thanks for the great stay and hospitality!!!

Outstanding!

The cottage was fantastic! Clean, well kept and well appointed. I like to cook - and I was able to! The kitchen is very well stocked. The beds very comfortable, plenty of bedding, clean and fresh! Games galore, and a fantastic "sun-room" to enjoy them! Cottage was warm and inviting even during the Northern CA "drizzle season". The beach and old growth forests are a short drive away. Several folks have mentioned the beautiful gardens on the cottage property- and beautiful they are! Clearly a labor of love! As other reviews point out, the town of Crescent City is a bit drab - however, because the cottage is so beautiful, secluded, and surrounded by such magnificent gardens, after stocking up at the grocery store, we didn't want to go to the town! Kathy was very helpful, and all logistics - entry, directions, payments and refunds of deposits and cleaning fees - were super fast and efficient. I cannot recommend this cottage highly enough!

A Perfect Holly-Day Get-Together!

Santa and his elves gave our families an early Christmas gift by having this awesome cottage available for a VERY LAST MINUTE booking! Five kids/three adults and one 180 lb dog were very (and I mean VERY worried) that our two day rendezvous would be ruined after discovering upon our arrival that our original VRBO had RAT FECES everywhere and was fairly dirty as well. :0 !!!! We had brought food and had planned on doing some baking/fudge making and gingerbread ouse decorating so finding a hotel at the last minute would of been a very sad solution and needless to say we were NOT going to stay in the first place! The owner of this PERFECT cottage was caring and very understanding of our situation. The caretaker actually lives on the property as well. The place was cozy & clean and we were all very excited (and very glad actually) that the first place was so bad!

It was the perfect Christmas gift and experience for all of us!

cottage was as advertised, quaint cottage for the 2 of us but had 6 beds we never even used. would be great for a bigger crowd. The weather was rainy but that should be expected in Nov. very centrally located for all the sight seeing we wanted to do. Do not miss the Stout old growth redwoods. our first Home Away experience, will do again. Owner was very honest and prompt with deposit and cleaning fees returns

Up to 5 guests the minimum cleaning fee is $75. More than 5 guests (6 or more people) the minimum cleaning fee is $100. Cleaning fees may increase based on the condition of the cottage upon guest departure. $100 cleaning fee will be charged at booking. Differences in cleaning fees based on number of guests or additional fees based on cottage condition upon guest departure will be refunded upon departure or deducted from the damage deposit upon guest departure. Pet fees are a minimum of $25.00 per pet. Additional pet fees will come out of the refundable damage deposit. Babes in arms policy- No charge for children not walking if you dispose of all diapers from the property on your own, otherwise $15 additional guest fee applies to each child. Main season rates apply to Christmas and Thanksgiving. CANCELLATION POLICY and refunds - Up until 60 days prior there will be a 100% refund. 59 days until 30 days prior to arrival date guest will receive a 50% refund. On and within 30 days of arrival date the policy states zero refund. However, based on owner decision, up to a 50% refund if cottage re-books for same number of days and guests as cancelled reservation. If the cottage does not re-book the guest will not receive any refund i.e. if zero days of cancelled dates are re-booked the refund is $0. Any refunds within 30 days are up to owner discretion based on the terms listed above.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
  • 100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
