As a lifetime resident of Lake Placid, my wife, daughter and I have enjoyed this home and it's great location for over 15 years. We love everything about the Adirondacks and Lake Placid - a great small town with so much to do year-round. We love this location for it's proximity to Main Street, but yet private enough to spend a quite evening on the deck. We love to share our knowledge of the area with our guests!

Peak View is a great alternative to a hotel stay for a small family or couples getaway. Great access to Main Street and Mirror Lake for walking and central to everything else by car. Our secure garage is great to store you car and all that gear you'll want to bring along to enjoy everything the region has to offer!
We stayed at Brett & Mary's for a week of relaxation, lacrosse & checking out all the sights. The apartment has everything you need to be comfortable. Warm blankets, air conditioning, comfortable beds, full kitchen & a wonderful deck with grill for our own private use. The gardens are beautiful & the photos are spot on! Everything looked exactly as shown. The apartment is located just out of the village, perfect for low noise although close enough to walk to all the shops. We would definitely recommend these accommodations as well as stay here again.
My wife, toddler, sister-in-law and I just finished a 3 night stay at Mary's property and had a lovely stay. A few details:
-- I just reviewed the photos on Homeaway and they are perfectly accurate. The apartment was lovely in every way.
-- Not that we used it, but at a glance the kitchen seems extremely well equipped.
-- For those with toddlers, while the apartment is not officially baby-proofed it's clutter-free and therefore easy to keep the kid out of trouble.
-- The apartment is dead quiet. No noise from their home below. No noise from the street when the windows are closed (if you keep them open to enjoy the night air you'll hear passing cars but I'm a light sleeper and didn't have a problem with it at all).
-- The owners are very nice and have two adorable dogs (including a Scottie for fans of the breed).
-- The *only* caveat I would make? The bathroom lacks a bathtub so if you're looking to soak away aching quads from a long day of skiing or hiking you're gonna be disappointed. And along the same lines, the shower stall is VERY small. If you're a plus-sized person you're not going to be happy. Mary is aware of this and is exploring the possibility of a tub.
So what are you waiting for? Rent this place!
We loved our accommodations at this newly decorated and spotlessly clean home. If you are quiet and responsible renters, this will work well for you.
It's the upper floor walk-up at the owners' home with a private entrance. The owners made hardly a peep, and they were very respectful of our privacy. You couldn't ask for nicer managers. They left the gorgeous deck for our use only, with a grill, table, chairs, loungers, a trickling fountain and a hot tub. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to enjoy it as fully as we should, but it's a really nice place for a cookout.
The unit is just as it appears in the very nice photos on this website (with an additional armchair in the living room). It is very nicely decorated and comfortable. There are only a few TV stations available, but we had some DVDs and an iPod to supplement. Besides, we spent most of the time out in the town and woods. The bathroom, though well designed, is narrow and the shower stall is on the small side. This wasn't a problem for us. The supplies in the kitchen are of good quality, including the knives, which is not the case in every vacation rental. Everything you need is there (though this is not indicated in the listing), including several place settings, mixing bowls, and pots and pans. There are plenty of cleaning supplies, and we tried to show our respect for the home by putting them to good use before we checked out.
The yard is a showcase of lovely landscaping, entirely fenced for privacy. The home is on Main St./86 near Rt. 73, another main road, so it was easy to get everywhere. You can park your car securely in the garage. We would not hesitate to rent this place from these owners again.
My husband and I stayed at Peak View for a week in August 2012 and a week in January 2013. The apartment is charming, bright and sunny, and offers a perfect location for both summer and winter activities. Downtown Lake Placid is an easy walk. During the summer, it was a short walk or drive to Mirror Lake for paddling and swimming, and great road bike rides could be had right out the door. In the winter, it was a short drive to Whiteface or Mt. Van Hoevenberg, and the golf course behind the house is also a fun place to xc ski or sled.
In the summer, the apartment was cool and comfortable with nice cross breezes, and in the winter, it was warm and cozy. The use of the garage was great for storing our bikes in the summer and for sheltering our car from the cold and snow in winter.
We stayed for a weekend in January 2012 at the Peak View apartment. It was a great location on the edge of town but walking distance to everything. The apartment was exactly as shown in photos and very clean. The kitchen had everything we could possibly need. The owner was very kind and quick to respond to any questions we had. It was a great weekend!
Great place to stay! My husband and I stayed at Peak View for 4 days in January 2011. The apartment is adorable, bright, warm, welcoming and extremely clean. All amenities were modern and new. We enjoyed the location since it was on the Whiteface Mountain side of town and easy to get to the mountain. Town was just a short walk away.
We dealt with Mary who was extremely helpful and professional. We would stay here again in a minute!
