Fort Walton Beach Condo Rental Photos and Description

Condo, 2 Bedrooms + Bunk Area, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Wonderful sunsets and pristine sugary white beaches await you at the Pelican Isle on Okaloosa Island . Whether it's a trip for shopping or an adventure to take in the sites of the town of Okaloosa/ Ft Walton Beach, there are numerous activities to entertain you or just sit back, relax and enjoy paradise.

Enjoy the sites from the penthouse balcony on the 6th floor of the Pelican Isle with great views to take in the view of the dolphins as they frolic in the surf or sea gulls as they glide along the breeze of the of the beach. Enjoy your morning coffee or evening meal on the balcony which has a wraparound balcony with 2 sets of table and chairs to accommodate everyone in your party and from within the unit has two slides from the family room.

Okaloosa Island is a way to beat the crowds as we have no high rises to bring in all the crowds. Our beaches are not crowded like other panhandle cities. So we have a piece of paradise without all the crowds and traffic, yet we are only a few miles to most of your heart's desires. We are only approximately 7 miles to Destin to the most wonderful fishing village where multiple fishing vendors await your request for a trip to catch “The Big One” where shops and restaurants abound. Destin has many shopping areas to please everyone from Destin Commons, Silver Sands Outlet Mall and Destin’s Harborwalk Village at the foot of the Destin Bridge. There is enough shopping spots to please the avid shopper. Even the guys like Destin Common with Bass Pro Shop and the kids like the activities and train rides. I send links to multiple sites for enhancing and making your stay an enjoyable visit to the Okaloosa/Ft. Walton Beach/Destin area.

Nothing was spared in setting this unit up to take rentals. It has brand new kitchen cabinets, counter tops and state of the art stainless steel appliances. The carpets, drapes and custom bedspreads are all new and compliment the beach cottage décor. The unit has a new set of high efficiency washer/dryer combo. Master bath room has new spa tub/shower for your relaxation and enjoyment. Last but not least the family room has a 42” flat screen TV/DVD/Blue Ray for your enjoyment. Both bedrooms have 32” flat screen TV/DVDs and the bunks each have a 19” flat screen TV with remote.

The kitchen has a desk off to the side for use for the business or computer needs. No need to use the bar or table. We have wireless internet as well as covered, reserved parking.

Unfortunately Will Not Be Staying In This Unit Again

  • 2 of 5

Positives- The unit is nice and the view is great.

Negatives- Upon arrival the unit was not clean and we even arrived almost 2 hours after our allowed check in time. This was very disappointing. Though the manager did send her cleaning service promptly and the cleaning service worked fast, my sister had to take the children down to the beach while I stayed back to wait; approximately an hour and a half of my vacation time was wasted. The Manger did reluctantly agree to compensate me 50.00 for the inconvenience. I was told there was a miscommunication regarding a previous stay by the owner. Also, two different service people were called out during my stay, which I believe should be handled when guest are not staying, because I really do not want strangers left with my personal belongings while I am not present and I shouldn't have to alter my plans to be available for maintenance personnel. In the contract it states to notify manager promptly if you notice damage or such upon arrival. I opened the screen to the balcony on the first night and it fell off because a hardware piece was missing. My sister and I put the screen back up as best we could and left it open because it would have continued to fall off if we had to open and shut it during our stay. This was not a huge problem, as there is the glass door to the balcony. However, I took pictures and notified the manager, as well we spoke on the phone. I took pictures and video upon my arrival as well as my departure to document the condition received and the condition left. This turned out to be the best decision I could have made and I highly recommend if you stay in this unit to take pics/video! They tried to pull a fast one on me and not return my full deposit over the screen door that fell on me when I personally opened it on the very first night, within the first two hours I was there, and tried to insinuate that because we had children there that they likely damaged it! That really infuriated me... the children had not even been in the unit long enough to change into swimsuits because they were taken immediately to the beach to stay out of the way of cleaning service. In the end, I was refunded my full deposit and the extra 50.00. However, staying here proved to be a hassle and vacation shouldn't be that way. We love Ft Walton, we've stayed in different units in Pelican Isle as well as other condos along Santa Rosa Blvd and never had a second of trouble, so we will be back, just not this unit.

Use White Towels and Washcloths At Own Risk

  • 3 of 5

First, we loved the condo and property. However, I will not use this condo again due to my dealings with the owner. To explain, we ended up having to arrive early Saturday morning due to a dance event at the convention center. After dropping my child off, I realized that I would need to find something for me and my son to do for next 7 hours. After driving to the condo and seeing that no vehicles were parked in the assigned parking, I called the owner on a whim to see if we could check in any earlier than 3 p.m. I was simply inquiring whether this was a possibility, yet I was met with rudeness. Although the owner ultimately made this happen for us shortly after 12:00 p.m., I just did not appreciate how she treated me during my initial inquiry with her.

Also during the early check-in communications, the other mom staying with us learned from the owner that additional cleaning was necessary because the prior guests had apparently left the condo a mess, requiring steam cleaning to the couch and dining chairs and requiring one of the comforters to be sent off for cleaning. That should have been a clue that we would not receive back our full $300 deposit.

After the allotted time had passed for the owner to return our $300 deposit, we emailed the owner as to the status. In response, we learned we would be charged $71.08 for damaged towels and wash cloths. Photographs attached to the email showed photos of towels that had been washed with regular clothes and a wash cloth with makeup on it. Note, the condo towels are white. Whether bleach was used to clean the towels is unknown. But, certainly bleach should have removed the makeup and slight grayish tint. While I was willing to overlook the charges for the new towels and “taxes” ($46.08), what really bothered me was that I was charged $25 for the owner’s cleaning lady to drive 6 miles to and from an unknown laundromat for someone else to wash these items. Thus, a total of $71.08 was withheld from our deposit check for a few towels and wash cloths that I would have been happy to wash and bleach myself.

Based on my experience, while the condo and property is great, I feel like I should at least warn others that the owner will find something wrong with how you leave it.

Owner's Response: This renter knew before she arrived that they had rented the unit from 3 pm, and in my confirmation, I state that there can't be an early arrival. The guest that was staying in the unit had just left and the unit had not been cleaned or checked from the previous guest. I had to get in touch with the cleaning service and persuade them to change their schedule to get it cleaned and ready for this guest. I had to recreate their code to get in this early. I was not rude, but this should have been discussed 5 days earlier when they received their confirmation. I accommodated this renter with a cleaned unit 3 hours earlier than her check in time and I get this type of response Everyone knows that makeup usually does not come out of white towels or washcloths after it has partially dried and I state that in my rental agreement. I let them know if the linen is damaged due to makeup that I will charge it against their deposit and charge them what it cost me to replace it including a trip fee for someone to go purchase it and drive back & label it. The damaged white bath linen not only had makeup of eye mascara and foundation on it, but a good portion was washed with some bright blue items and it ruined several of the items. My cleaning service uses a commercial laundry mat and they used 2 extra treatments to try to get the dye out, but it left the linen a dirty grey and it could not be used for guest. This guest was not charged for extra treatments, only for the replacement for what was damaged. They also use a bleach that is stronger than what we purchase in the stores and it doesn't budge this type of damage. I know things happen and this type of thing was thoroughly addressed in my rental agreement. I don't enjoy taking people's deposit, but at some point they have to be responsible for their actions when warned ahead of time.

Wonderful time!

  • 5 of 5

This place was absolutely wonderful during our stay and pics don't do it justice. We had booked 3 nights and then decided to book an extra night because we enjoyed our stay so much. There is tons of room to move about and the views cant be beat. We enjoyed a quiet stay as it was the top floor and felt pretty private. We used a nearby grocery store to buy our food and loved using the kitchen which has everything you need. You will not be disappointed staying here. The owner was very quick to respond to any concers or questions and made the process and stay very smooth and easy. We will definitely be back one day! We enjoyed covered parking and elevator access. The rooms are spacious and king size beds. I'm 5 ft 6inc and was comfortable using even the bunk bed in the hallway which has it's own personal flat screen tv. This is a great place to stay and you will not be dissapointed!

Fall is a Great Time to Visit

  • 5 of 5

We did not know what to expect when we made November reservations in the Okaloosa Island area. What we found was peace and quiet in a nicely decorated oceanfront condo, uncrowded beaches, very little traffic and no wait time at the most popular restaurants in the area. The condo is large and very clean. It is also an end unit-the 2 bedrooms do not share walls with any other condos. There is a wrap-around balcony with great views of the ocean and the spectacular sunsets. It is far enough from the elevator that there is no noise from people coming off the elevator. It is one of the quietest places we have ever rented and the beds are quite comfortable. The 7th floors views are awesome and the building's hot tub is warm enough to enjoy when the temperature dips. We did not try the pool, though others swam while we were there. It is also nice to have covered, assigned parking spots under the building. The owner is very easy to work with and refunded my damage deposit promptly. She also gave me some good restaurant tips and was very responsive about answering my questions. I can whole-heartedly recommend this condo for your vacation stay. The Gulfarium is very close and we enjoyed the dolphin and sea lion shows while there.

Awesome Place

  • 5 of 5

My family of 7 loved this place!!! It was perfect in everyway...from the view to the pool!!! The kitchen was very very nice and had everything that we could ever have needed! The view was breathtaking! Everything was very family oriented and the beach was beautiful! The water was beautiful blue... panama city was the only beach I had been to before we ventured out to ft. walton, and I will say this, i will never go any place else! Everything about the condo was great! It was clean, very updated with tv's with dvd players in each room which worked out perfect with our girls in the bunk beds! :) We hope to book this exact condo next year!

Excellent Location

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spent our spring break in this unit and it was wonderful! We have spent many breaks on Okaloosa Island, but this is the first time in a top floor unit. The condo is spacious and the views are breathtaking. Definitely hope to spend time here again in the future. I would definitely recommend this unit for your vacation accommodations.

If you want to enjoy a nice stay at a premier beach without the crowds, Okaloosa Island is for you. Our building codes limit our resort heights to 7 stories, thus less crowds then the places with 23 story buildings which are side by side in most areas that are popular. Yet we are only a few miles away from Destin or into the town of Ft. Walton. The town of Ft. Walton is only 2.2 miles away with the nice Publix Grocery, Indian Temple Mound Museum, original one room school house and a Children's Interactive Science Museum. A couple more miles and you have Golf. Okaloosa has a centrally located Beach Board Walk with a few shops, several restaurants and right next door is the fishing/observation Pier and on the other side of the pier is the Gulfarium with Dolphin Shows and the sea animals and more to view. Okaloosa Island has a multiple restaurants to choose from within 3 miles and then we are only 3.1 more miles to Destin with an array of places to visit, eat and shop to include a very large Water Park, The Fishing Village and the Harbor Dock restaurants and shops. Jet ski and boat rentals are only 2.3 miles away on the bay at the State Park. Kick back and be lazy and enjoy the beach or within a short drive enjoy Golf, boating, jet skiing, parasailing and more.
