It Feels Like Home
This place has everything you need to feel like home. Our 2nd time spending a full month here! It's not managed by some faceless management company and I really enjoy finding there is already things like ketchup and sugar and spices and maybe a can of pasta sauce already there for me. The kitchen is VERY well stocked with quality pots and pans, blender, kettle, toaster, all the things you'd expect plus extras like rice cooker, slow cooker, tupperware and a "junk" drawer with tape, and a flashlight we used to go to the beach one night, and hair ties which was perfect because I forgot mine at home. There are 4-5 big beach towels in addition to 4 sets of indoor towels (bath towel, hand towel, face cloth). There are 3 beach chairs, 2 umbrellas, usually 2 body boards, several snorkel sets, sand toys for the kids, pool noodles, cooler, etc. If you have questions you can call or text Kathleen and she answers right away. The unit has a nice open flow, didn't need the air conditioner the entire time we were there, if you open all windows you get a great cross breeze. One thing to note is the elevator does not go all the way up to the unit. There are 8 steps you have to climb to get to the top, not a big deal for most but I thought I'd mention it.
The location is great, right across the street from our favorite beach Charley Young (or Kamaole 1). On big wave days it's great for body boarding, there's also a reef off the North end if you want a nice easy place to snorkel. You can walk south along the beach through Kam II and Kam III beaches all the way to Kihei boat launch if you want. Kalama Beach Park is a 5min walk away with a playground, walking trails, tennis, etc. Also shopping, restaurants, karaoke, dancing, all 5 min away.
We enjoyed it so much we tried to book it again for next year but somebody already beat us to it! Hopefully we can come back again in 2020.
And we always love having you! You pretty much summed it all up, thanks. We try to make it as home-y as possible for our guests. The winter and spring months do fill up fast so you have to plan ahead. Mahalo and Aloha.
Needs some finishing touches
This was our 5th stay at Pacific Shores, each time in a different unit. The things that were bothersome for this unit are:
1)The dining chairs legs are very loose, one piece sticking out that I cut my leg on
2) The dining chairs are faux leather and the top color leaves flecks all over your legs when you sit on them
3) there was hardly any plastic wear to take to the pool, only 1 plastic serving plate. We had to buy cups, plates and bowls
4) the large front burner on the stove didn't work (though the owner said we could call her to figure out how to fix it, but if it's a known problem, just get it fixed because it's an inconvenience)
5) the ceiling fan in the living room clicks constantly when it's on and it ends up being very annoying
6) The cupboards are so high above the peninsula, I could hardly reach them and I'm 5'5, not sure if it's an American thing?
7) not a huge deal, but there were no baseboards in the bedrooms which just made it feel unfinished.
8) the pool was FILTHY! It was so murky that even when you swam with goggles on, you still could hardly see, and it felt like it left a thick film all over your body
9) some strict rules like: no "Marco Polo" in the pool, no jumping/cannonballs into the pool, and you get very dirty looks if your kids are laughing and having fun since they expect you to be quiet.
About half of the residents own and the rest are rentals. If you don't like the kids laughing and playing in the pool, then you shouldn't buy a unit to live in that's right in front of the pool.
The unit was clean, and she allowed a late check-out which was nice.
Thank you for bringing these things to our attention. Some things, like the flecks of leather sticking to your legs, is something that cannot really be known from regular cleanings and inspections and this is the first we've heard of it. Since I take apart the stove to clean everything, on rare occasions the connection isn't quite right when it's back together. The steps to fix it were - unplug the burner and then plug it back in. We definitely rely on feed back like this so we can make improvements and fix things. And I can contact the association about the state of the pool. Grumpy neighbors... unfortunately I don't have a remedy for that. Sorry they made you feel unwelcome. Thanks again for taking the time to let us know how we can make your next stay better.
Mahalo and Aloha
Perfectly located in the heart of town. Walking distance to everything. Clean and comfortable.
Fun time in this sweet beach town. Fun shops and restaurants. Perfectly located in the heart of town. Walked to beach and town everyday.
This condo is a gem. The location directly across the street from Charley Young beach is ideal - the beach was never crowded, there was both sun and shade and the snorkeling right off the beach was excellent. We really appreciated the provided beach chairs, cooler and snorkel gear.
The location in South Kihei also provided quick access with little traffic to get to the starting points for the Road to Hana and Haleakala. Easy access to groceries, shopping and restaurants.
The beds were comfortable, the extras provided were thoughtful (drinks and household sundries) and the living area had enough seats and space for everyone to hang out together.
The owner responded quickly to any inquiries and was always helpful and polite. It was an excellent experience from start to finish.
Great place in Kihei
We stayed at a wonderful place while in Kihei over the Easter break. The unit is walking distance to the Kamoale I beach and great for young kids. Many shops and restaurants are nearby. The pool and hot tub at the complex are great for relaxing after a long day at the beach. The condo unit is well furnished and stock with everything you need. Just replace if anything runs out which is a small price considering everything available. The only very minor issue is the landline phone needs a new battery but it was not an inconvenience as we had our cell phones. I would recommend to anyone looking to stay in Kihei. Mahalo Kathleen!
Great building with great amenities.
The unit was spacious and comfortable. It was more than enough room for my mother and I. The only thing we didn't like was having to unlock pool door to exit. We saw signs that they are changing this to a code. Would be more convenient. Everything else was excellent. We went to the beach across the street most days and used beach chairs provided. Thanks for hosting us. We will definitely be back. Mahalo
