We are located 1 mile above the town and just minutes from the downtown area. The loft includes a nice dining area, private deck, and vaulted ceilings with skylights. Sunsets from the deck are breathtaking. A small woodstove keeps you cozy during the winter months. Decorated with turn-of -the-century collectibles including a wooden sled, skis and snowshoes. Why The Owner chose Shasta Cascade

The vacation rental is on our property, detached from the main house. It is very private.

What makes this studio unique

Mount Shasta is an incredibly peaceful and quiet place - the perfect place to relax and unwind, or go hiking or climbing - swim in one of the many lakes- go canoeing, boating or kayaking- ski, snowboard, toboggan or snowmobile, all within minutes from our loft. For golfers there are 3 courses nearby - Mount Shasta Resort (18 holes - also has a day spa), Lake Shastina Golf Resort (18 holes) and Weed Golf Course (9 holes). Fishermen are also spoiled for choice - the Upper Sacramento & McCloud Rivers offer world class fishing - then there are many mountain lakes, and the Pit, Trinity and Klamath Rivers nearby.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This is a wonderful, peaceful and quiet location with a "kitchen table" view of Mt. Shasta. It's maybe a mile, if that, to downtown shopping and restaurants. Ditto on "the unit is clean and bright, tastefully decorated, with an awesome wood-burning stove and a fully functional kitchenette." This is an incredible base for any of your favorite outdoor activities, lakes, "links" or woods. My wife and I can't say enough nice things about the owners who are intelligent, attentive, helpful and accomodating without being intrusive. If you desire a private and peaceful outdoor setting for your home away from home, this is the place, trust me!

Favorite place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We came back for another 3 night stay and enjoyed it as much as last time. Great location; view from the deck is so pretty. We love this place and are planning our next trip. The sunset and stars are amazing. There is a lot to explore in this area. Hikers paradise. Caught a nice big trout at Lake Siskiyou and enjoyed our meal at the kitchen table with a view of Mt. Shasta. It is a great place to stay if you like peace and quiet and a view!

comfortable in June

  • 5 of 5

This was a great place to stay for us. We had nice quiet mornings and nights for sleeping. Spend most of the day off fishing with friends. We totally enjoyed the balcony for BBQ'ng, as the evening air cooled and for star gazing. The weather was hot, but the fans worked great to cool off the apartment when we came back for the day. Bed comfy, kitchen workable, nice table area, bath roomy, and hosts friendly. Thank you for a lovely stay. We will be back.

wonderful place to stay

We had a wonderful stay at the place. Is a beautiful location outside of town, but close enough for easy access to the town and mountain. Would definitely stay there again.

Awesome Private Retreat, So Peaceful!

  • 5 of 5

To start, I can really only reiterate what other reviewers have already said: this property is clean, nicely furnished and supplied, and has a wonderful view and natural surroundings. It's listed to sleep four which it can do, but I feel this loft is far more appropriate for a couples retreat.

Greg and Carolyn are two of the nicest people I've ever met, so cool and down to earth. Their signature gifts of blank Mt. Shasta greeting cards and chocolate chip banana bread are being shared with family members, they're too good to horde!

If you have a telescope, do bring it. The sky views from the loft's private deck are amazing even with the naked eye. Two nights were clear enough to see Coma Berenices without binoculars, so imagine what even a weak telescope might see!

Wildlife and bird watching are also great at this location. We were constantly surrounded by the calls of jays and finches, and saw rabbits and deer from the loft's deck at various times of day and night.

This is a great base for going up the mountain or going into town. Far enough from town you don't get traffic noise above a slight sigh from I-5 but still a quick easy jaunt in if you need to go to Ray's for groceries. Likewise, it gives you a bit of head start toward the mountain over a main drag motel if you're already stocked/fueled up.

We would definitely stay here again, and plan to, next year about the same time.

I believe you'll be impressed if you rent this place for your stay in Mount Shasta.

Absolutely Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I have stayed at multiple other places and this is by far the best. Greg and Carolyn are extremely nice and helpful. Greg even drove us into town to buy chains! The scenery around the loft is beautiful and you are surrounded by mountains with Mt. Shasta right outside the porch. The property was very well maintained and clean. There are plenty of great places to visit around as well. I would recommend this place to anyone and we will definitely stay here again!

A Peaceful Escape

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time in the loft this summer! Greg and Caroline were so kind and welcoming after our long journey. My husband and I were visiting for 10 days -- from the coast of North Carolina -- and the loft was a perfect fit. It was comfortable and quiet with beautiful views. We really enjoyed watching the stars and planets from the deck, as well as watching the deer, rabbits and birds. Caroline was a wealth of knowledge about the area hiking trails which was great because we did a lot of hiking while we were there. The kitchen was roomy enough to make many of our meals there and it was equipped with most anything you would need. We had to make a trip to the laundromat which was fine -- it's close, cheap, clean and it appeared to be open 24/7. There was no AC which I was concerned about before arriving (coming from a hot, humid climate) but it worked out fine. The weather was amazing. Warm and dry during the day and cool nights. It was so nice to be able to sleep with the windows open! We would definitely stay here again!
