About Owner

"Plateau Edge" was inspired by our son, Alexander. He has cerebral pralsy, is quadriplegic, and has intractable seizures. We needed a way to pay for his 24/7 nursing to sustain him in our retirement and after we are gone. Having Plateau Edge with our organic farm and being chefs, gives Alex a future and provides a beautiful place for our guests. We have had wonderful guests which has given our family such joy!

Why Owner chose Temecula Valley

This area is beautiful; the beach weather comes over the mountains, only 14 miles away as the crow flys; the weather provides seasons but is perfect for sports and recreation year round; and this area has the only natural plateau in Southern California (8300 acres) that is literally on the property's doorstep. This area is one of only 7 Areas in the world to have a Mediterean Climate. This climate can grow almost everything, avocados, wine grapes, vegetables, fruits, flowers. Our organic farm is on an adjacent acreage and we do grow everything!! This area is the best kept secret in California!!!!

What makes this estate unique

The property's architecture has a lot of connectivity to the outdoors with over 2,000 square feet of decks and 2,500 square feet of patios with glass doors that open up to those areas. Placed on 5 acres of a tree-filled property (manzanita, oak, and pine)with amazing views in a rural setting for gatherings, hiking, biking and the Plateau--and wine country. The property has all the amenities for entertaining and having fun with outdoor dining and sleeping, ping pong, horseshoes, and darts. There is a jacuzzi and a shared pool and firepit. Waking up to the magnificent sunrises and taking walks is everyone's favorite but evening stars out on a deck is fabulous too! This property truly combines the convining with nature of camping and the luxury of a beautiful home. There are hawks, barn owls, and many birds unique to the plateau that you will hear and see during your stay. And with our organic farm on an adjacent acreage, there is every seasonal fruit and vegetable available for our guests use. There is also an abundant amount of english lavender and english roses at the farm. there is something for everyone whether you are seeking peace and quiet or a fun time with friends and family, this property has it all!

Life changing experience

  • 5 of 5

One year ago today, the company I worked for was gearing up for our first retreat... in a different city over 1,000 miles away from our headquarters. With the help of Laura, her family, and her wonderful staff we were able to hold a retreat that was not only beautiful but life changing. Laura and Ron are beautiful people inside and out, and it shows in the beautiful oasis that they have created. I am so honored to have met them.

A First

  • 5 of 5

As the adage goes… there’s a first time for everything. I’m doing a first….. I was never big on making comments on social media, I figure there are too many people doing that already and didn’t want to clutter the cloud with more. But writing this review I felt that I had to….just my way of saying thank you to our wonderful host family over the weekend.

First of all let me say how lovely this family is…Laura, Ron and Alex. Laura is the most genuine human being you could ever meet. So warm and accommodating an extra ordinary mom. And Ron so helpful and welcoming, who give tips to look out for when you’re out and about wondering their orchard. And Alex, it was a pleasure to meet him, I must agree with Laura he’s indeed a handsome young man.

I have booked a lot of rental property over the years for family and friends but never have I experience the kind of accommodation and comfort this place offers.

My big family enjoyed the warmth of the rustic house and the homey feel of the barn. The kids had a lot of space to move about and places to explore around the property. They enjoyed the pool from across the property while the adults relaxed on the Jacuzzi. You really feel you’re so far from the hassle and bustle of the city when it’s just about 20 min down the hill to downtown Murrieta. Watching the sunrise in the balcony and an early morning walk on the property with it’s avocado grove and lines of grapevines was priceless.

When Laura told me all we need are clothes and grocery, she wasn’t kidding. You can even cross out the grocery and be served /catered by her and her staff. She did a dinner for our parents 60th Wedding Anniversary it was a delight… you really taste how fresh and organic the food is.

If this doesn’t convince you maybe knowing she bakes heavenly goodies might. You are greeted with a tray of cookies that melt in your mouth, and cup cakes that she bakes for the kids when they swim are moist and luxurious. And the piece de resistance… breakfast croissant that will make your day.

I would like to think that we have connected with a long lost friend and will be so looking forward to our next visit. Our big thanks to Laura, Ron, Alex and the staff for a vey enjoyable and relaxing weekend.

Till next time around “Au Revoir”…..the Ann Family

Wonderful Family Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Five stars is simply not enough to rate Plateau House! We have rented several VRBO homes in the past, upsizing as our family has grown. The Plateau House, operated by Laura and Ron Komers, was absolutely the best place we could have ever chosen for our family gathering. We were 9 adults and 8 children (all under the age of 12!). Not only are they the most friendly owners to work with, but also Laura and Ron pay so much attention to every detail. They truly make sure that they do whatever they can to make every event there special. It was so kid friendly, and our family loved the outdoor activities- the pool, ping pong, horseshoes and volleyball. And the food was spectacular. Laura had a tray of fresh baked cookies waiting for us, and also prepared the most amazing croissants for our Sunday breakfast. One evening, we arranged for Laura to cater a special family meal, which included the best lasagna we have ever eaten, a lovely salad from their organic gardens, nitrate free grilled sausage, and fabulous cupcakes. The décor and the food were magazine photo worthy. When we posted the photos to friends, they were all asking us where on earth we were having this wonderful celebration. All of our gang agrees that this is definitely a place we would love to visit again!

Absolutely amazing!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

I have two experiences to write a review on about this beautiful property and the owner Laura Komers. We rented this property for not only lodging for our friends and family but to host our wedding.

Wedding: Hiring Laura and her staff was the best decision we ever made. She made the whole wedding experience a relaxing one. All we had to do was make a few decisions prior to the date and literally show up for the wedding, she personally took care of all the decorating, catering, and event logistics. Her staff is welcoming and very accommodating. Our guests could not stop talking about the property and the food provided during the wedding. I would highly recommend her for any future weddings!!

Lodging: The house is HUGE and has EVERYTHING you need. All you have to bring are the clothes you will be wearing. The sauna was clean, and was used every night to relax. The views are beautiful and when you wake up you can watch the sunrise from the balcony. She even brought over the most amazing home made croissants. If you are looking for a place to spend time with friends and family this is the place to book. Her customer service is outstanding, she is passionate about her property and works hard to keep everything nice.

Thank you Laura!

Amazing property with fantastic owners!

  • 5 of 5

It's hard to know where to begin when writing a review of this outstanding rental. But that's just it, it doesn't feel like a rental. In less than 24 hours I felt that I had known Laura for years and was visiting her beautiful home and just loving all of the fantastic food that she prepared for our family of 12, including five who don't eat meat. We decided to have Laura prepare a full day of meals for us but there were many extras also, just because she's the type of person that she is. We found food for a light meal in the refrigerator when we arrived as well as a few dozen fantastic, just baked cookies. The next day she shared a huge pot of minestrone soup with us, followed by an amazing strawberry shortcake the next day and chips and homemade salsa by the pool. The saline pool is wonderful, with solar heat and a very large attached hot tub. And you need to bring nothing with you to the pool area as plenty of towels, sunscreen and bottled water is supplied. All of this is a short stroll across the quiet road. A golf cart is available but we never felt the need for it.

When we first entered Plateau Edge, we just walked from room to room and out on the decks and patios with our mouths open. We couldn't believe how spectacular it all was. And it was so easy to get lost, everything was so spread out. We definitely never felt cramped. The Barn was great, that's where we ate the wonderful dinner that Laura prepared for us, complete with fresh baked apple and berry pies. The kids loved karaoke in the barn, and playing ping pong and volleyball as well as horse shoes just outside. And a review of our experience would not be complete without mention of THE VIEW. It's difficult to describe, especially by someone from Pittsburgh who is definitely not used to such natural beauty. The decks are outfitted with many different seating areas, as well as a hot tub, propane heaters for chilly evenings and several tables and umbrellas. We spent a lot of time watching the sunset, listening to coyotes and one evening watching many shooting stars. We've never seen so many stars back home.

If you have any hesitation about renting this home, just do it, you will not regret it. We have rented about eight different properties through Homeaway and none came close to Plateau Edge.

This is warmest and inviting house for groups you could ever rent. The house has collapsing door/windows that open entire walls to deck and patio giving the renter the perfect blend of the outdoors and indoor amenities. The house is clean, fully stocked and you are greeted with fresh flowers. The catering services are the absolute best. Only organic and fresh products are used and coming from Chicago one of the greatest restaurant cities in our country this is saying a lot. If you rent here you must have at least one catered event. Laura and Ron's crew are working around the clock between the two properties to meet your needs. We hosted the rehearsal dinner and a family BarBQ. Laura create a scrumptious dessert table (see pics on her Facebook page) and BarBQ dinner. I give it five stars. There is a glass barn to host these types of events that leads to a patio. When we arrived she had all tables set up and ready. Where can you sit 20 guests at a single table comfortably with a country chic design? And, there are two!! Absolutely beautiful. The pool is a short walk away and a golf cart is provided. The pool is annex to the garden/farm where you are invited to help yourself. There are vineyards near by to visit and the location is perfectly placed for day excursions. Driving at night can be a little tricky for city folks but GPS works great. Bedrooms are comfortable and sleeps everyone in an actual bed or sofa sleeper. Outdoor beds are located on the bedroom balconies and make it a perfect place to retreat and read, take a nap or star gaze. Because of the layout of the house it doesn't get boring, one minute you are on the deck, then at a ping pong table at the other end of the house then you are losing terribly gaming with your young cousins. I vacation a few times a year and Plateau Edge has given me the best accomodations and memories for the money. You will not go wrong staying here for your gathering.
