Newberg Farmhouse Rental Photos and Description

Farmhouse, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

This charming "country casual" home, perfect for an adult getaway, is located just outside of Newberg, Oregon, the gateway to the Northern Willamette Valley wine country. The original farmhouse was remodeled and enlarged to 3000 square feet and is situated on a private 200+ acre working farm which produces hazelnuts (filberts) and wine grapes with an onsite wine tasting room.

The 2nd story of the home has a large master suite with a king bed, fireplace, and private entry with balcony. In addition there are two other upstairs bedrooms, one with a king bed and another with a full size bed as well as a deck, all w/views. There is a 1st floor smaller bedroom with twin beds. There are 2 bathrooms, one upstairs, one on main level. A large deck, perfect for outdoor dining, is just off the large, well equipped kitchen that has a sunken breakfast nook, bar and wet bar w/stereo. There is also a second, larger dining room, w/views to the south, which can accommodate large groups for dining or as a meeting area. The TV room has a bay window and comfy seating. The library has an extensive and eclectic collection of books. The large cozy sunken living room has a fireplace, electric piano, lots of seating and opens to a deck w/pastoral views. The sunken hot tub room w/views, is off the breakfast nook. Brand new carpeting throughout.

Steps away from the home is an inviting garden and a basketball court. The large lawn is perfect for gatherings. The wooded 200+ acre property, which borders on the Willamette River, has hiking trails and 2 ponds to observe wildlife.

The property has an 80 acre hazelnut (filbert) orchard and a Pinot Noir/Pinot Gris boutique vineyard. The award winning Vercingetorix (VX) Wine Tasting Room is adjacent to the home and is open 1pm to 5pm on Saturdays/Sundays, Memorial Day weekend through Thanksgiving weekend. During regular business hours, guests will receive a complimentary wine tasting in the VX Tasting Room. Occasionally there are events associated with the tasting room and we will coordinate scheduling with guests as needed.

The private stable is adjacent to the house and we board several horses so you may see their owners come and go for riding or carriage driving.*

The area is full of interesting sites and activities. There is a boat ramp in Newberg for those with watercraft. Historic Champoeg State Park is just across the river with lots of history and fun paved bike paths. Cyclists love the back roads of the French Prairie region. The Chehalem Glenn golf course is only minutes away. People enjoy early morning hot air balloon rides that often dip into the river in front of the property. George Fox University and boutique shops are also just 5 minutes away in downtown Newberg. The renowned Allison Inn and Spa is also just minutes away. Newberg has 4 grocery stores, 2 large shopping complexes, 7 pharmacies and numerous restaurants to satisfy your needs. The town of Dundee, known for numerous high end wineries and excellent dining, is less than 10 minutes away. The town of Lafayette, popular with antiques shoppers, is just less than 15 minutes away. There are local equestrian events throughout the summer, only minutes away, at the Devonwood Equestrian Center and Hunter Creek. Rental horseback riding is available in the Trask Mt range at the Flying M Ranch, only a 30 minute drive as well as on the beach at Pacific City, 1 hour away. There are a total of over 500 vineyards, wineries and tasting rooms in the North Willamette Valley but within a short drive, there are over 70 wineries and tasting rooms to visit in the Newberg - Dundee - Sherwood area plus over 100 others in the Yamhill county area of Carlton, Dayton, Yamhill, McMinnville (hosting the International Pinot Noir Celebration) and Amity.

Or, you can simply kick back, relax and take advantage of the quiet "country casual" ambiance of the farm and guest house.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

About Becca Wicks / manager

Willamette Farms has been under its current family ownership since 1959. Three generations have enjoyed living on and working this property. Before that, settlers in the Newberg area farmed the property since the late 1800's. The farm has seen many forms of agriculture over the years- hay, potatoes, oats, wheat, cattle, apples and a variety of nursery stock. Today, the farm focus is on filberts (hazelnuts) and pinot noir/pinot gris wine grapes..

Becca Wicks / manager purchased this farmhouse in 1959

Why Becca Wicks / manager chose Willamette Valley Oregon

For those adults looking for something private, off the beaten path and close to nature, with all the comforts of home.

Had an amazing time!

  • 5 of 5

This property is beautiful, secluded and unique. I've never stayed anywhere quite like this, and I was so impressed with the house! It is an older home, but it is well maintained and we loved all the natural light and decks available for enjoying coffee or wine, depending on the time of day. Each room was set up to receive the guests with towels and other amenities, and everything was clean and ready for us. The directions into the property and how to enter the house were spot on and much appreciated! I personally wasn't able to attend the free wine tasting, but those that did said it was a lot of fun and really enjoyed that extra perk. I would definitely come back here again if I ever needed a quiet relaxing holiday from the craziness of everyday life. If I am able to come back, I'd love to stay for much longer so I can actually take advantage of all this property has to offer and explore the ground some more.

Perfect in every way

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the VX Vineyard Guest house for our son's wedding that took place at the nearby Newell House.

Months before coming up to Oregon for the wedding I had been able to talk to Becca and get wonderful recommendations for nearby restaurants, vendors for the wedding, and wines. We served VX and Argyle wines at the rehearsal dinner and wedding. Fantastic wines! And what a special treat it was to stay at the VX guest house. The surrounding grounds are vast and lush, the house is large and inviting with everything you need in the kitchen. Comfy beds and plenty of space to relax. Porches, chairs, all kinds of rooms and even an indoor jacuzzi room. The VX tasting room is on the property, which our house guests enjoyed! There is a huge barn and beautiful horses in the pasture. Very picturesque and serene. Thank you again Becca for all of your help! I am glad you got to meet our son! Happily married in Oregon!

I bought my wife and her friends a weekend at this VRBO and they loved it. Awesome property and views, solid lodging, and a great jump off spot for wine tasting. We are coming back.

We stayed at the VX Vineyard Guest House for a long weekend retreat with my 4 adult daughters and me. The property is beautiful and we enjoyed long walks through the vineyards and orchards. It's also close to multiple wine tasting places and interesting shops as well as good restaurants. Becca was very accommodating and helpful before and during our stay. We spent an hour with her on Saturday afternoon tasting the VX wines which she was very knowledgeable about. The girls congratulated me on finding this great place for us to enjoy!

Very Nice

The house was just as advertised. Quiet, isolated, and very relaxing. The manager was very helpful and responsive in making the arrangements. Would recommend this as a home base for those wanting to visiting Oregon Wine Country.

Girls' Trip

  • 4 of 5

5 of us went up to Willamette to catch up on 5 years since we last got together. It served the purpose well - we sat around and talked and had wine. The grounds are beautiful. They are far out there, so there is no walking into town or to restaurants (although you can walk across the driveway to the tasting room where Becca does a fantastic job of explaining the wines and food pairings to you and shares the history of the farm and the area).

It is a little outdated (think 70s, brown paneling), but there is no shortage of space and you can always sit outside in the beautiful grounds.

Owner's Response: I was glad to hear that this group enjoyed their stay and could appreciate the farm's history and the home's uniqueness...natural real pine paneling and all! It was a pleasure to have had them. Becca
