Property type house

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Beautiful beach house newly remodeled. 32 ft ceiling with large light-inviting windows. Three bedrooms, each decorated in a different theme. One bedroom is decorated in a surfing motif with tiki lights strung overhead, one bedroom is a cottage with white bead-board furniture and the master is a twilight periwinkle blue with all white bedding, perfect for relaxing. The living room features all the comforts of home. Dining table expands to seat extra guests. Outdoor brick patio includes built in fire pit for those evenings roasting hot dogs, making s'mores, and watching the stars above. The two person hammock is ideal for snuggling with your loved one or curling up with a good book.

The beach awaits you after a quick one block stroll. You will then be able to enjoy an uninterrupted 3-mile walk all the way to Oceanside. You can end your evening sitting on the outdoor deck of Schooner's Restaurant, listening to live music. And just in case you have a spirit too many, Schooners is a one block walk to our home!

The tiny town of Netarts is located near the mouth of Netarts Bay. The bay is inhabited by clams, fish, seals, crabs, colorful starfish and birds of astounding variety. Netarts is located about 75 miles west of Portland (6 miles west of Tillamook and the Tillamook Cheese Factory) and is right on the famous "Three Capes Scenic Loop". By car, Netarts is less than an hour and a half from Portland or Salem. Also, just minutes from Sand Lake.

About The Owner

After my career of 17 years in law enforcement, I've started a new venture into becoming a real estate agent. My family, includes 2 boys &, 2 dogs also enjoy our beach house.

The Owner purchased this house in 2007

Why The Owner chose Coastal Oregon

In early 2000 my parents passed away and I inherited my family built home from 1976. My husband and I fully remodeled this well loved home and enjoy blessing others with it. We actually refer to my beach house as the "house of blessing".

What makes this house unique

The one block walk to the beach is wonderful. Plus the 3 mile walk along the beach right into the cute little town of Oceanside is one our favorite things to do. Exploring the tide pools, finding sea creatures and looking for shells is a great adventure we love too!

We love to eat ice cream at the Tillamook Cheese Factory. Listening to live music at Schooner's Restaurant, only a block away, is perfect for late night adult fun.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you! We had a wonderful time and Jodi, you were so great to work with. Love all the vintage mementos :-)

The perfect getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, chocolate lab, and I rented the SOS beach house last weekend. It was the perfect getaway for a little R&R at the beach. The house had all of the amenities to make it a very comfortable stay. We ate seafood galore at both Schooner's restaurant/pub in Netarts and Roseann's cafe in Oceanside. We also treated ourselves to ice cream & cheese at the Tillamook cheese factory (only a 5 minute drive from the house) as well as wine tasting at the Blue Heron cheese factory, also located in Tillamook. We loved walking on the beach looking for sand dollars & shells while sipping coffee from the local coffee house in Oceanside. I can't wait until we can steal away for another weekend in Netarts!

Owner's Response: We love hearing positive responses about our beach home, named the SOS, due to saving it from falling down around itself several years ago. We completely remodeled it and made it a fun but relaxing retreat . We consider it a house of blessing, blessing others that is. We want everyone that comes to our beach house to come as guests, but to leave as friends. There are so many things to do in Netarts and the surrounding towns. One of my favorites is to go antique shopping and another is to go kayaking in the estuaries, talk about fun. Watching the surfers at Oceanside is a great time too. Schooners, one of the local restaruants, features live music on Friday and Saturday nights. With only being one block from the beach, we can walk back and forth to the beach several times a day, or just spend the entire day being a "beach bum". Also, the boat marina shares the same parking lot as Schooners and we are able to go crabbing each morning. If you don't have your own boat, you can rent one for the day, as well as the crabbing equipment. If you're not into being on a boat, you can buy fresh crab at Jose's Bayside Market on Crab Avenue. They have a huge salt water tank that with fresh caught crab. The kids love to watch the crabs, the parents love to eat um! Again, we love our beach home and we would love to share it with you. Come and stay, and you'll see why people continue to return to our home for their beach getaways.

Netarts Rental

We stayed here last July 4th weekend with 5 teenage boys. It was perfect. And the fireworks put on by the locals on Netarts Bay was priceless. Hope to rent this great house again this summer.

Our time at this lovely beach house was great! My husband, two adult daughters and two small grandchildren were so comfortable and felt at home, we only wish we could have stayed longer. The listed description was exactly accurate and the photos are what it looks like, beautiful. Very clean and well maintained. We ate at Rosannes in Oceanside and it was wonderful! Bring your walking shoes as the beach is a little walk, but well worth it.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your kind words and I am thrilled that you enjoyed our home. I know you came from Minnesota, and I am tickled that our home met your every expectation and it was exactly what the website showed. Next time you come out to the coast, we will make sure you get to stay that whole week, just like you wished you could have! And just as the guest book says, Enter as Guests, Leave as Friends. Thank you again for your wonderful review an we look forward to having you stay with us again! Jodi

Great for one family or girls getaway

  • 4 of 5

I don't think this is a great house/location for very young children or for multi family getaways. The home is perfect size for one large family or a group of singles. While it could technically sleep up to 8 there is only seating at the table and in the living room for 4 at a time.

Location, again, great for adults or older children, not great for strollers. A little scary taking a stroller to the bay then once you get there too rocky to go anywhere near the water. Was also extremely busy (tons of cars and off leash dogs). This house is two blocks from the Bay, not the Ocean. During our stay the road to Oceanside was closed so we never could really see that ocean beach.

The house itself is very cute allbeit a bit smaller than the pictures make it seem. Kitchen has everything you could want. Enough utensils and plates to not do dishes for a week! The home also has small items such as soaps, paper towells, etc. which made the stay even better. No cable, just lots of Disney movies. Very small BBQ. Lots of knick knacks around the house (very cool for atmosphere, not so much for small children :)) Extra toys and odd items found in each closet. Great lighting and air flow throughout home. Kicthen was not part of the remodel.

Owner's Response: We do have three roomy bedrooms, large family room with attached dining area, and as the author stated, enough dishes to last for over a week without needing to run the dishwasher! The dining table has only four chairs, but it pulls out (with a leaf in the middle) to accommodate more seating. Just two steps away is the kitchen with the eat-in bar and four bar stools. These stools can easily be moved over to the dining room table for added seating and also, there are lots of folding chairs in the utility room for extra seating. We DO have cable so I'm not sure why the author wrote that, and we have internet also. The BBQ is average size, bought at Fred Meyer and does the job.:-) The reason the road was busy is because this guest was there on Labor Day Weekend, and people do allow their dogs to run off leash at the beach. This has no reflection on the beach house or it's location. The road to Oceanside has been closed and is set to reopen soon, however this does not affect access to our house in Netarts. I have tried, and believe I have accomplished, to think of everything that our guests would need while staying at the beach house. Like this guest said, I made sure there are plenty of everything. And if not, the guests have my cel phone and are welcome to call me anytime. This is a wonderful getaway home, as the author shows by giving it four out of five stars. We, of course, think it deserves five out of five, but we are just a little prejudice.

I've never left a negative review, but I felt like sharing my opinion of this home, in case it's helpful to some.

We actually ended up leaving the home two days early. The first disappointment was the location. We chose this house because of it's clear description of being a 'quick one block walk to the beach'. We actually passed on another beach house and chose this one, because the other house had a vague description of a 4-5 minute walk. The price of both were the same. When we arrived to this house we were surprised to see where it actually was. It's on the east side of Old Netarts HWY. To walk to the beach, you take the gravel road (at least a block +) and cross the busy hi-way. Walk about a block at that point, then you're at Schooners. Follow the gravel road in front of Schooners, for another block or so and then climb down (over rocks) to the beach. Be warned, there isn't much of a beach here, especially during high tide. This was not ideal for the small children we were carting around. We wanted a home that would literally be a quick one block walk, so our toddler, baby and younger kids, that were in our group could all walk together. We ended up having to get in the car to drive either to the Happy Camp beach, or into Oceanside, for their beach.

We found the house to be uncomfortable as well. It wasn't a place that we felt we could just lounge around in. To be fair, the pictures posted are pretty accurate, of the inside of the house. But once there, it just wasn't comfortable... the bed we slept on (we slept in the upstairs room with white bed frame -- seemed more like a full than a queen), the living area wasn't comfy either. So basically, we were in our car for day trips or driving to the beach, which was not what we had in mind.

Luckily, we found a last minute house to rent, that better fit out needs. It's just too bad that we ended up having to spend more than we planned on our vacation. We forfeited the two nights here, that we had pre-paid, but did end up in a house that we could enjoy a nice safe walk to the beach, and let our cars take a break. So it ended up being money well spent. We did try and get a refund due to the misrepresentation of the home's location to the beach, but had no luck, which is also too bad. I suppose that's the risk of VRBO --- you're bound to run into some disappointments. Looks like some people are happy with the house, based on a couple of reviews, but I wanted to share

Owner's Response: "Enter as guests, leave as friends." This is not just the sign in our beach home, but the value we hold as the motto for each and every guest. We are devoted and dedicated to excellent customer service and wonderful hospitality. The comments in our guest book clearly reflect this as do the numerous compliments we receive on our beach house. This is why I am so saddened that this guest had an unpleasant experience. Our hope is that every guest feels welcomed and at home at our beach house. Let me address a few specifics in her comment. First of all, our description of the distance to the beach is clear. That it is near the beach and, yes, there is a road to cross. After polling many other guests about their judgment of the distance and the nature of the road all feel that it really is a short walk and an easy road to cross that is not busy. With regards to her request for a refund, this speaks to our contract. We have a contract with each and every guest, which is a mutual promise and protection for both parties. We love to hear positive feedback and appreciate constructive criticism. Our hope is that each guest has a relaxing, fun-filled, stay and we continue to make more friends.

Cozy and Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here last weekend with 4 of my gals for our girls weekend getaway. This was the perfect location and a very comfortable house. The kitchen is great and fully stocked as described - as the foodie and cook for our weekend I was delightfully surprised at the array of tools, etc at hand. A lot of love and detail has gone into the decor giving it a friendly, cozy personality and not a boring, sterile/neutral palette that some places can have. We got to experience a seaside storm which included the electricity going out for a few hours and we were especially appreciative of clear instructions in the house booklet and the abundant supply of candles on hand.

I've already recommended this house to friends and can easily imagine wanting to book it again for the next Oregon coast excursion.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We do love to hear positive things about our beach house and we welcome our guests back with open arms. Including the ones who came all the way from Scotland! We have tried to think of everything, including the occasional coastal storm, which can call for candles, flashlights, and cooking on the propane barbecue. We even have Jiffy Pop popcorn to pop on the barbecue! The biggest compliment that we can receive is referring our beach house to others. This guest, as well as other guests, have done just that. It truly is the greatest compliment we could ask for. We want our guests to be comfortable, relaxed, and have fun while staying in our beach house. That is why I personally give each guest my cell phone number, so that if there are any questions or issues, I can be contacted ASAP and give each guest personal attention. Hospitality means everything to us!!
