About Jerry

Jerry Geissler is proud to offer Hale Honu Kai for your use. Jerry is a retired firefighter from California who also happens to be pretty handy at construction work, having built several homes on the mainland. When the condo was purchased in 2007 it was unchanged from when it was originally built in 1981. The remodel work started with a complete tear-out to the walls of everything inside the condo. It was stripped to the bare concrete walls before the rebuilding process started. Even the old 'popcorn' ceilings were stripped, and all ceilings and walls re-textured and painted. Custom cherry cabinets for the kitchen and all three baths were ordered and shipped from the mainland. All bath tub surrounds were stripped and refitted with new tile. A large, custom shower was constructed for the master bath. New solid teak furniture replaced everything along with new towels, linens, bedspreads and curtains. The kitchen was outfitted with new cookware, dishes, silverware and small appliances. The intent was that the condo have a very Hawaiian feel, with unique eloquence To that end the usual pure white walls and bamboo furniture that is seen in many condos was avoided. All of our colors, textures, and furniture was hand picked, one piece at a time. I hope you will feel instantly comfortable here, just as my family does when we come.

Jerry purchased this condo in 2007

Why Jerry chose Kona Coast

The Kona Pacific complex is an undiscovered gem on the Kona Coast. Many of the condos in the area are "stick-built" wooden construction that doesn't always age well. The Kona Pacific is a refreshing change from that. It is constructed completely of concrete, and meticulously maintained. It actually looked when it was new much the way it does now. The quality of construction, perfect maintenance, and the manicured grounds and pool show wonderfully . Pride of ownership and a quality owner's association management team are in clear evidence.

The second thing that attracted us to the Kona Pacific was the perfect location. It is far enough from the breaking waves to be peacefully quiet, yet close enough to get a good ocean view from the lanai. It is a short walk to a great little sandy beach with showers, bathrooms, grass and shade. A short walk north leads you to the Historic Kailua Village. Being able to walk to amenities and entertainment is priceless.

What makes this condo unique

One of the favorite and most enjoyable things to do here is walking to the village. In the morning you can enjoy genuine KONA coffee and breakfast while overlooking Kailua Bay at any one of several very popular restaurants. Huggo's on the Rocks, Bongo Ben's and the Lava Java are local favorites, and some many that you quickly come to on your walk.

In the evening, a short walk across the street will take you to the Royal Kona Resort and is simply a stunning place to watch the sun set. One of our fondest memories is sitting at the Royal Kona, sipping on a Mai Tai and watching the cruise ships sail off into the sunset....literally.

Sometimes when we can't decide what to do for dinner, we just walk into the village to see what looks good. There is always something going on at one of the eateries.....somebody will have good Happy Hour mai tais or other specials that are always a good place to start. Then, you can walk further down Alii to find a good place to eat. The historic Kona Inn has fabulous ocean view dinning. They have a formal dining room, and a seating area near the bar that offers more affordable, quicker fare. After dinner, it's time for ice cream and a stroll. There are countless little ice cream and shaved ice shops in the village. We still haven't found them all, and they all have their own unique flavors. It's the perfect way to end your evening before heading back home.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful time at your condo. It was beautiful and comfortable. It really is a perfect location...close to the beach, close to eating and shopping so everyone could do their own thing. Thank you so much.

Jerry's Place at B208 Kona Pacific Was Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

My wife, daughter and I enjoyed immensely the hospitality Jerry offered us while on the Big Island at Kona. We were so very lucky to have Jerry over from the mainland visiting and checking on his property while there. His condo has plenty of space for a family up to 6. We planned for 5, but only 3 of us made it in my group on the trip. This unit made it very nice.

Our daughter enjoyed the privacy afforded in the totally separate 2nd Bedroom (her section by itself was equal to the total amount of space you may get at most hotel chains). She had access to the huge Lanai (this unit has a long wrap around porch with plenty of chairs, table space and enjoyment space). She had a spacey open bedroom area, nice furnishings, a large bi-fold doors closet area, and a large spacey 2nd bathroom. I mean it, just like a standard nice hotel room and bath just in her sleeping area. My wife and I enjoyed the Master Bedroom and it's space. The Master Bath had a large walk-in tiled shower, was spacey with nice tile and décor. Near was a nice storage closet and a hall to the nice open bedroom area and access to his large Lanai just mentioned above. A 3rd hall way to the nice washer / dryer area and storage, connected to the nice foyer. Double entry doors, 1 or 2 can be used as needed, one in use all the time, but with that side x side option it would be good for wheel chair access I think. There is a 3rd Full Bath near the foyer, just behind the nice roomy Kitchen area that had large tiled top counter peninsular. Also next to the 3rd Bath, another nice storage double-door closet where all kinds of nice things for use are stored (extras, water toys, etc). In front of the Kitchen at a 3rd set of Lanai access doors was the very nice open and roomy living space area. Jerry has tile throughout, nice plumbing, sinks, counters, appliances and general furnishings. He really cares about his place and wants it kept nice. He was there for every question, big or small and went above and beyond sort of performing as a true vacation host, not just a nice landlord of his nice property. He hand wrote several separate maps and written directions to nice beaches and let us borrow a book telling about the island. The view from his Lanai, is just as you see it with the posted picture of the pool. I still have it burned in my mind, perfect copy. Easy access to car parking straight below. Elevator within eyesight of his condo's front door. Great pool, Quiet neighbors, helpful people here

Our wonderul stay at Jerry's Condo #B208 in Kona, Hawaii July 8 - July 14, 2017

  • 5 of 5

This is a real excerpt of an email sent to Jerry from us today July 15th our arrival back in Georgia date.

Good afternoon (there), evening (here) Jerry,

I wanted to take this time while catching up on my emails at home to again tell you what a wonderful time we had being in Hawaii and being able to stay in your beautiful condo B208. Our flights out went well. We left after a nice luau style meal and went to the Kona airport. Our flight was delayed about 40 minutes due to the aircraft being in gate a little late from the inbound to Kona, but our captain, just as he stated he would made up some time (enough) in the air to give us a 45 minute connection time period in Seattle to connect with our homeward bound Atlanta flight. That last leg of flying left the gate exactly on time at 6:15 am Seattle time (3:15 am your time / 9:15 am Georgia time), and arrived on ground in exact expected time of a few minutes prior to 2 pm. We were tired, still are, but manage to stop at a Chic-Fil-A (Georgia's Home Grown Premier Chicken Sandwich Franchise / now in several states, but not found on the island yet) and eat at my daughter's beckoning request. She was having Chic-Fil-A withdrawals, and also we'd been 14 hours since the nice last supper on the Big Island. We got home to Grantville, Ga, about 43 miles south of Atlanta's airport at about 4:00 pm. If I stop moving or slow down I'll collapse, the jet lag is getting me in reverse?, I watched two 2 hour movies on the way back, but it took me both legs to get it all in, I must have cat napped several times while trying to watch them during the 10 plus hours of total flying trying to keep my eyes open to watch the 4 hours (I kept rewinding the onboard videos to catch close eyed missed sections of the movies LOL, so the apparent cat naps, thus the way I've managed to not fall asleep at home so far. I don't think I'll make it to my usual 11:00 - 11:30ish night time bed hours here though.

Thought I'd put the real on our trip back, because it in NO Way matched our great time there, and the great host we had. ....

You be safe and keep up the good work. Oh, P.S. the late grab of our stuff in the refrigerator really paid off. Thanks to your excellent cleaning crew and their find of our initially left behind blue jeans and sweat jacket (mine). For some reason we didn't recheck that closet nearest the master bath (why?), but much thanks again for all your extra courtesies, too!

I'll try to go on and do a follow up REVIEW for you

Great for a large family!

  • 5 of 5

I visit Kona a few times a year, but this time I stayed with family in the same condo. We all were able to cook, relax, sleep, and chill without getting in each other's way. The boogie boards and snorkel was nice as well as the coolers. Also, the selection of knives was better than most places and the saute pans. Most are in horrible condition! The wifi was excellent and tv's and ac were in working order. The beds were comfortable as well. Great place!

Owner's Response: Mahalo for such an informative review. Our condo is roomy and there is lots of lanai sitting as well as indoors. As all islanders and frequent visitors know, rust on knives is part of life here. We do try to watch and replace when needed. Mahalo again for sharing your views.

This place has it all

This is a great condo all around for Kona. This is our 2nd time staying here in this same unit. The complex is very quiet and very close (walking distance) to all the restaurants on Ali'i Drive. We had a great time and are looking forward to staying there again.

all close together

  • 5 of 5

At first it was hard to find, luckily we had someone with a GPS. Second, parking is for compact cars so it made it hard on us for parking as well, but Id say we still had a good spot in the garage, close to both elevators and just right when you entered the garage :) kept the car nice and cold! Loved the pool :) didn't get to try the grill sadly :/ but we had an awesome time! :) Just wish we had a condo closer to the ocean view would've been nice :) overall It was an awesome stay! :) nice facilities! coming from Alaska, we all weren't use to seeing HUGE bugs! lol but heard there's no stopping them. But I'd love to go back for another vacation :) maybe for my wedding one day :) the landlords were so nice and made our stay easier :) wish we could've stayed longer!! the third bathroom made it really easy with so much of us staying together :) the couch had an air up mattress what made it easier for all of us to fit :) there was boogie boards available for us to use :) + beach towels, after sun lotion, beach bags, chairs, and first aid kit so we didn't have to worry about buying much beach stuff :) Loved the bedrooms :) showers n baths, everything just worked perfect :)

Loved it! Beyond all our expectation!

  • 5 of 5

Before starting my review I want to point out the owners are great to work with. Communication from the get go was spot on and they have a very nice, spotless and well kept condo. The grounds & pool are very well maintained as well

We spent a lot of time searching for a place that would accommodate 2 couples. This condo was beyond anything we expected! Both couples had nicely decorated bedrooms with a full bath plus a sliding glass door onto the lanai. Plus the condo also has a third bathroom and washer/dryer. The condo is fully stocked, too many items too list! The location of the condo is in a great spot. Walking distance to the beach, shops and places to eat. If you like Fish & Chips try Quinn's by the Sea, yum! Do go to the Market Place and get some fresh mangos, papayas, bananas, ect and make a fresh smoothie. Simply delish in the morning while gazing at the ocean. We rented a car because we wanted to explore the whole island. There's so much to see & do! Here's a list of a few things we really enjoyed *2-Step-great snorkeling for both the beginner and the experienced. *Black Sand Beach-you'll most likely see Sea Turtles nesting on the beach. *Greenwells Farm (Kona coffee farm tour-free) Tim was our guide, really enjoyed him. *Hapuna Beach is another place we liked (as well as the beaches the owners mentioned in the description) As we left the beach a guy that was flying out the next day gave us his body board. He bought it at Costco, had a blast on it but didn't want to haul it home. We left it in the condo for others to enjoy. Leave your mark on it, looking forward to seeing how many people sign it as they pass through this gem of a condo. The lava beds on the way to Hapuna beach are amazing and if you look closely there's a pull off spot to where you can walk down into a lava tube. If you're looking for a massage try Body Rhythms Spa (Mothers Day Gift from my husband) Ask for Daisy, you won't be disappointed.

Hilo side is more tropical & wetter, beautiful! Should you decide to check out the volcano park be prepared for rain just in case. Trust me, shorts & a tank top in the rain is chilly! Also check out Rainbow Falls and the Market Place while there. Our 9 day vacation is something we will always remember. Thank you Jerry, Paula & Tom for sharing your condo! We will be back!
