Once the property was the summer holidays refuge of Silvia's parents and in 2006 we transformed it in vacations rental Houses. It lies 5 km far from the sea,but from here we can see the tyrrenian coast, from Livorno to Poets gulf, Lerici and Portovenere, - we couldn't survive without the sea!
marino barsotti purchased this villa in 2003
The villa was built by my family in the 50s. It was their summer residence.
Since we are a family of hoteliers for more than a century, we have decided, few years ago, to offer the home to the visitors, so that they feel at home. We believe that it easier to discover Tuscany from a relaxing situation, no schedules, as it happens in hotels. We have equipped the countryside villa with all the comforts to make your holiday even better, we have built a swimming pool (from where you can see the ocean)
The PROPERTY is on the top of a private hill, so in the night time the gate at the bottom of the hill is closed for the strangers: Your privacy is absolute! At the same time, if You want, You can reach by car, in few minutes, the nightlife of Versilia streets! Or the quiet medieval lanes of the mystic town of Lucca.
In the hot days of tuscan summer You can lay around the pool, reading a book or resting on the terrace looking down the terrific panorama
My wife and I recently rented Villa Oliveto for a week with four other couples. What a great place for 10 people. The five bedrooms each with their own bathrooms provided all the privacy of a hotel while the great room and covered panoramic patio easily handled our group. Decor was very tasteful and warm. The sunsets were terrific! The opeators were very welcoming and at gave us all the information around the area ( fantastic!). Very clean accomodation and great value.
We recently stayed at the villa for one week with multiple family members, a party of 10. The villa is absolutely beautiful, clean and well appointed. The views of the sea and Apuan Alps are outstanding. Clearly the property was well designed so that a large group of 14 could comfortably stay together and still have privacy.
The backyard has a lovely stone patio, a large dining table that seats 14, lounges, umbrella and a nice grill, a panoramic lovely pool. The views here are wonderful, and the property is not overlooked so it is very private. It is at the very top of a private hill. The neighborhood is very quiet.
Silvia and Marino was extremely helpful and made sure that we had everything we needed. We have traveled all over the world, and this was one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. I would highly recommend this property and would definitely rent it again.
Villa Oliveto reached & surpassed our expectations on every level. We were personally greeted by Silvia & Marino upon arrival & introduced to their beautiful home. The villa is tastefully & comfortably furnished & very well maintained. It was evident that this delightful couple are extremely proud of this property & warmly shared information about, not just the accommodation but, the surrounding area.
We would highly recommend walking the trail at the rear of the Villa to the village of Pedona. There is a wonderful restaurant where a delicious lunch can be enjoyed whilst contemplating the incredible vista. Equally, a delightful place for dinner. Also enjoy a morning walk up the Hill of Pedona & be rewarded with a delightful coffee served by the even more delightful Barbara whilst again being overawed by the spectacular view on hand. Villa Oliveto itself boasts the most incredible views, including sea views & often spectacular sunsets. There are numerous places to gather in large groups & also more than enough space for individuals who require privacy.
Silvia & Marino provided a variety of helpful info/suggestions: from where to purchase wine, a driver, day excursions, fresh produce, etc etc etc....nothing is too much trouble.
One suggestion, that was to prove a highlight for the group, was the cooking service of the wonderful Romina who came to the villa & prepared a sumptuous meal for us. On another occasion, she was also prepared the tastiest pasta & delivered it to the villa for us to eat on our return from a day exploring the villages of Cinque Terre. They were two of the tastiest pastas we had the good fortune to enjoy whilst travelling.
All in all our stay at Villa Oliveto was 'a little slice of heaven'. If we are lucky enough to return to this beautiful area in the future we would, without hesitation, book Villa Oliveto & hopefully it would be for an extended period of time as we only scraped the surface of this incredible area of Tuscany. Our warmest & most sincere thanks to Silvia e Marino for allowing us to relish in the warmth & peace of their beautiful Tuscan Villa. Until we meet again...Ciao
This lovely property of 5 good bedrooms was a superb place for our ( extended ) family to stay in Tuscany. Bedrooms all good sized and comfortable. Kitchen was very well fitted out and we could dine inside in a pleasant dining room, outside under a shady trellis on on the terrace - spoilt for choice. There was also a cot for a bay and washing and ironing facilities - very practical for so many of us ! No-one needs to worry about drying clothes in summer I may add with the beautiful weather we had.
The villa has air-con in most of the villa which was great, and the wi-fi worked well and stretched to the gardens and pool, which made it very useful for music / internet browsing / game playing. The gardens and setting with the house being up in the hills was stunning and very picturesque.
The pool was lovely with sunbeds and deck chairs and it was truly amazing to while away the hours sunbathing or playing games in the pool. It was lovely to listen to music on the wi-fi whilst reading and enjoying a Moretti or Chianti !
The local village is very nice, with a great local supermarket well stocked and well priced - a great deli counter. Totally recommend the local Buratta mozzarella and pesto from the deli. The village also has lovely bars and restaurants and pizza parlours. We made the lost of the excellent food and wine on offer there. Wider afield the local seaside is only 25 mins drive away and very pretty and pleasant. Bicycling around is great fun with the necessary drink and food stops of course ! There's the towns of Lucca, Firenze and Pisa of course ... so plenty of day trips possible if you wish. Plus the local hills around the villa is just beautiful for walks and rambles.
All in all we had a great holiday and will certainly look to come back. Marino and Sylvia looked after us well and were very helpful whenever we asked questions.
Just a shame life has to get back to normal now !
Our stay in Camaiore was all we anticipated and more. The villa was spacious and comfortable with an excellent view and beautiful sunsets. Marino Barsotti was helpful in making arrangements for a cook and musicians. The setting is wonderful and the location good for the sightseeing we wanted to do. this was our 60 year wedding anniversary and we want it to be memorable for us and our four children and spouses, and it was memorable indeed. This was the perfect house for a group of 11, representing two families, one from England and the other from the USA. We have all vacationed together in the past, but this home was the best - with large comfortable beds and a private bath for each bedroom. We loved the combination of large outdoor areas to gather, as well as the balconies where smaller groups could visit with each other. We prepared many meals in the well-outfitted kitchen and were pleased that all 11 of us could eat at one table.
We took day trips to Pisa and Lucca by car, and to Florence by train from Viareggio. Our trip to the beach in Viareggio was just okay, as we did not arrange to use one of the private beaches and the public beach was dirty. (There are instructions in the house guide about the private beaches so that is what we would do the next time.)
Late May is a perfect time to visit as the weather is still cool enough for sight-seeing in the cities, and yet warm enough to wear shorts at the villa. The pool was too cold for most of the older adults, but the "under-35's" went swimming and the parents enjoyed sitting on the lovely pool chairs and lounges.
We spent 3 awesome weeks this past August at the home of Marino and Silvia. The house exceeded our expectations....spacious, nicely decorated and very clean. The views and sunsets are breathtaking. It's in a great geographic location with easy access to the autostrada and local roads taking you to Florence, Lucca, Forte dei Marmi, Garfagnana just to name a few. We all had a wonderful time. Thank you for everything!
