We fell in love with Detroit Lake in college. It was always the first camping trip of the year. 20 years later, married with children, we decided it's much more comfortable to enjoy the Lake's ammenities in a cabin! Our first 'cabin' was more of a house, so we were really excited when this cabin came on the market. We've always wanted a cabinesque cabin with all the comforts of home and this house is perfect. We love it!
The cabin is at the end of a dead end street with only one real neighbor. This means that there's little to no traffic. You're free to enjoy the closeness to town AND a bit of privacy. Our favorite part of the cabin is having a bunch of friends up (we own the adjacent cabin as well & there are multiple tent locations), cooking a big dinner, and enjoying it at the outdoor picnic table & around the large firepit. Then hours of letting the kids play outside while we converse at the fire. There's also plenty of board games, 100's of movies and a mini foosball/pool/ping pong table to keep the kids occupied. It's camping with the luxury of a fully stocked house. Really, we throw in perishables, a change of clothes and go.
This was our second stay in this cabin and it is always good times. It works out great for our family of 5 with sleeping arrangements, entertainment and of course location. It's only minutes from Detroit Lake, at a dead end and quiet atmosphere. It has an awesome campfire pit, picnic table and chairs as well. We will be coming back again!
This is a very cute rental with a partial view of the lake. It's on a nice dead end street and is very private. The house itself has an interesting layout, with the master bedroom in kind of a lower floor/daylight basement area, which is pretty cute and has a nice forest view. The living room is large with big picture windows and the kitchen and dining area are very nice. Upstairs is a loft area and a couple of side rooms with TVs, fooseball, video game unit, etc.
My husband's favorite part about the rental was the big outside space with a fire pit and picnic table. We had a fire two of the nights and roasted marsh mellows and watched the mist drift over the mountains. Really lovely.
We had an issue with the water heater while we were there, but we were able to easily contact the owner and he put us in touch with the person who handles the property repairs. It took a little bit of time, but it was resolved and the rest of the vacation went really well.
For the price I think this place is pretty amazing. It does only have one bathroom, but the rest of the house is roomy, and you could easily fit a family of 5-6 comfortably.
Old furniture . Old dishes bathtub didn't drain . It was. 90 degrees inside NO air conditioner add said there was. Wel never stay here again!!!
My family really enjoyed staying at this cabin. It had everything that we needed for a two day get a way. The kitchen is a good size and fully stocked with everything you need to cook meals. There is upstairs bunk beds for the kiddos as well as many games and movie to choose from (for those rainy cabin days). The outside campfire pit has lots of seating including a picnic table, not to mention the great view you get to enjoy while in front of the fire. I hope to make a yearly trip out to Detroit Lake and this will always be my go to place!
We really enjoyed our stay at this precious house/cabin! It is so cozy and has everything you need! We really enjoyed the location as it was very peaceful, tucked away in the woods, and at a dead end. The updated kitchen made it easy for us to cook our Thanksgiving dinner! This home has the "woodsie" cabin feeling that we found very hard to leave!
We loved this cabin - it's clean, comfortable, plenty of sleeping, stocked well, great outdoors with campfire pit and grill, quiet and the location was perfect for us! We wanted to do a week of boating at the lake and this cabin was in the perfect place for us to do that. We loved having the campfire pit - it is large with lots of seating, a picnic table and a great view. It's at a dead end with plenty of room for our boat and truck. The owners were fantastic to work with! We had a problem with the dryer not working and within a day a new dryer was brought in as well as extra linens/towels in case we needed them in the mean time. Have to say this is one of our favorite family trips we have taken in a while!
