Overview

About the property

1 MBR Suite, 1 Bunkroom -2 Full/2 Twin, 2 fold-out , 2 full bathrooms.Sleeps 6

We fell in love when we saw the view of Big Sky Resort's spectacular Lone Peak, which is enjoyed from the Master Bedroom Suite, Living Room and Outdoor Deck. Combine that with the in-unit hot tub room, fireplace, plenty of space, lodgepole pine beam work and one of the best Mountains in the Rockies convinced us that we want to hang our hat here.

Slope side often requires a lot of walking, is noisy, and comes at a premium price. We're only a half mile away on the free shuttle. Take our elevator down to the heated indoor garage, and a few steps out the door you can board the free shuttle that takes you right to the Big Sky Resort entrance.

The large 'L' shaped Living Room, Dining Room, TV/Den area gives everyone space to spread out with couches, recliners and good reading lights. Or for some private time escape to the peaceful sun room for a nap, or use the desk to set-up your lap-top.

Full renovated 2016 kitchen with new appliances, laundry, internet, HD Smart TV/Blue Ray DVD/CD/VCR surround system, firewood, and a boot & glove dryer-handles 6 pair of each at once.

About Brett

I'm from a northeast skiing family. My parents met through a ski club my Dad was president of, and started me on skis at the age of 3 at Whiteface, a NY Adirondack mountain that hosted the 1980 Olympic Alpine events. This great mountain, with its 3,200 vertical drop, is where I learned to ski every type of condition, in all forms of extreme weather.

After college I got into exploring new ski areas, and started tallying all the ones I had been to. According to my Excel list I've been to 124 ski areas so far.

I have been to most major resorts throughout North America, and have started ticking off some of the more exotic ones on my bucket list in South America, New Zealand and Europe. I still enjoy the small family run operations too. For me, its just about being outside gliding down a mountain. I don't need fancy resort infrastructure and perfect groomers to have fun. That is the beauty of starting the sport in the era I did.

With all that said, my wife and I were looking for a place out West that we could take our kids to, and spend some retirement time at. I had been to all the big name mountains prior to my first visit to Big Sky which we instantly fell in love with. The mountain had every type of terrain: from the double black diamonds I enjoy now, to the type of terrain I will enjoy in my senior years. The lifts were old salvaged lifts from other ski areas. That was okay. We saw the potential and saw that Boyne was pumping money into the resort, so we bought our place in 1991, and haven't looked back since. With most new lifts replaced by high speed detachables, new lodges, and the tram to the top, this area rocks.

Throughout the years we've been slowly fixing our Montana home up, and in 2016 we renovated the kitchen and entryway completing our wish list. We have really enjoyed seeing our renters positive comments about their stay, and we will continue this labor of love to make it great for us and them.

Brett purchased this condo in 1991

Notes:
First thing you will love when you get here is that you pull right up to the building, reach out your window and push the button to open the indoor heated garage. If you've ever arrived to your vacation spot in pounding snow, or pouring rain, you'll appreciate this nice luxury. Once in you'll find plenty of luggage carts (and firewood). Load-up and ride the elevator up two levels and it will open right across from our condo-easy. In-unit, dedicated hot tub room for your privacy is a plus. Tub is cleaned and filled with fresh water at check-in. Big Sky access is a half mile away on the free shuttle that picks-up right outside the Skycrest garage door and drops you off at the entrance. No long walks, no parking hassles. We always utilize the ski/board overnight check service during our vacation stay which is right at the base of the chairlifts. Wet ski boots and gloves...we have a dryer that can handle 6 pairs of both at once. Free wireless internet, TV/DVD/CD/VCR

Big Sky

Location and condo were great. Nice square footage for 4 people. Would definitely stay again.

Our boys loved using the jacuzzi after a day of skiing.

Big Sky Skycrest Condo

Perched 1/4 mile directly across from main base---woke up to the face of Lone Peak Mountain. It's the best view available. Great floor plan, spacious and comfy.

Very Good

  • 5 of 5

The condo is very comfortable and had plenty of room for sleeping six. The place was clean with all the supplies one needs for a weekend stay. Very convenient location as it was a short drive to the ski runs. Hot tube was nice after a long day of skiing for relaxation. We all enjoyed our stay and are planning to return next year if available. I might add that the price for the rental was very reasonable.

Even better the second time!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had an epic week! Everything about the condo was comfortable and easy. The renovations look and feel wonderful! The hot tub is key at the end of each strenuous (in the best way) day of riding/skiing! The shuttle is really easy and quick! Brett's notes were invaluable, once again. I even continued to read the trail recommendations once we got home! We were so fortunate to have great conditions with inches of fresh powder each day and sometimes all day! Staff at the mountain is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable whether you're at lunch or need a repair from The Board Room. Food is great everywhere! One must try the new Everett's 8800 at the top of Ramcharger lift (reservations for lunch and dinner). For something really special, make a reservation for the Montana Yurt Dinner ahead of your trip. We rode sno-cats up and back to an obscure yurt somewhere between Andesite and Lone Peak mountains for candlelit dinner with only about 30 people and one of the best (home cooked) meals of the trip. Dress warmly for that ride (with goggles if you ride the roof)! Once again, Big Sky is an amazing gem of a place. The Heineman's Skycrest condo is perfectly situated with gorgeous views of the mountain(s) you come to love the days you are there and yearn for after. Till next time! Thanks Brett and Bonnie!

Great place - Beautiful view, plus indoor hot tub!

  • 5 of 5

The first impression of this condo started with the owner Brett - who was so responsive and detailed oriented. He sent us a very helpful document describing everything about the condo, plus great detail about the various ski runs and local restaurants. He was also easily reachable by phone. The place itself has a great view of the mountain, but is not ski in ski out. You can take a shuttle that comes right outside your door to the base of the mountain, (although we ended up driving to the mountain each day which is maybe a 1/2 mile down the road). You can valet your skis at the mountain every day if you don't want to bring those back and forth. The hot tub was also a welcome sight at the end of the day and yes it is inside. While many people like to have one outside looking at the slopes - when the wind chill at night is sub zero - you are quite happy being inside. Temperature and overall setup of the hot tub worked out very well. Kitchen has been recently redone with new appliances and plenty of space. Bathroom and beds were clean and comfortable and the overall space was perfect for 4 of us. We all agreed that we would stay there again! Only downside to Big Sky is the late night shuttle service - seemed a little hit or miss in terms of getting back to the condo after 5 or 6pm. There is one that runs, but they are not as frequent later, so have someone really explain the schedule to you as far as which one will stop back at the condo. (no real taxi service either in Big Sky yet). The restaurants are mainly at the base of the mountain or a 10 min drive into town. However there is not much night life in Big Sky - so grabbing dinner early and then settling in for the night at the condo seems to be the best plan of action. (After you stop at Montana Jacks for apres ski of course.)

Ideally located in the Big Sky Mountain Village on the free shuttle loop-a half mile from Big Sky Resort. Just far enough away to give us the most spectacular view of Big Sky and Lake Levinsky from this condo's elevated perch. We're ten minutes from the golf course, and white water rafting & fishing on the Blue Ribbon Gallatin River. Bozeman/Yellowstone Airport are an 1:10h away. Yellowstone Park's West Yellowstone entrance is 50 minutes away. We are just around the corner from the popular Beehive Basin hiking trail. There are many excellent restaurant and bar choices in the Big Sky Mountain Village as well as the Meadow Village and Canyon areas where vehicles are recommended. Renters love how easy it is to come and go from the heated indoor parking garage accessed a few steps away from the elevator; directly across from our front door.
