Tuwanek Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

Cottage Rental Accommodation, Sunshine Coast BC

Welcome to the The Scuba Shack located in the community of Tuwanek, approximately 12 km (7 miles) from Sechelt, situated on the eastern side of Sechelt Inlet at the foot of Mount Richardson. The name is derived from Tuwanek, one of the 4 divisions (septs) of the Sechelt Nation. The Sechelt Indian salmon hatchery and a world-renowned scuba diving site (Tuwanek Point) are also nearby. With its rustic character and country charm, this cottage accommodation provides full amenities to make your stay pleasant and comfortable.

Tuwanek is in close proximity to Mount Richardson, Porpoise Bay, Sechelt Inlets Marine and Tetrahedron Provincial Parks. The Tuwanek area has been home to many summer cottages since the early 60's and today many of the folks who came here as children are bringing their kids to experience all the area has to offer. Some have even chosen to make Tuwanek their home and many people now live here on year round basis. Immerse yourself in the soothing atmosphere of the cottage and remember.....it’s not just for divers.

Great find!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful time. Place is a fantastic getaway to relax, see some beautiful views, and lots of activities. We went crab hunting on the beach, canoeing, and hiking all within 5-10 minutes of the cottage. Jon, the owner, was super impressive with his communication and recommendations. I would recommend this space to anyone. Thanks for a lovely vacation.

Perfect getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I wanted a relaxing birthday getaway for a few days. I was so impressed with the great customer service from the owner Jon. He was quick at responding to any questions we had, and gave us great recommendations for the area. There is a beautiful quite beach just 5 minutes walking distance, and a variety of hiking trails in the area. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the essentials including a blender. The 2 bedrooms were small which was not an issue, and they had Queen size beds and one even had a TV if needed. The living room had everything you'd want in a cabin. There is lot's of wood provided so you can cozy up by the fireplace giving it a real cabin like feeling. Just to add to the ambience, the outdoor electric fire pit was a nice touch. The patio outside had a nice BBQ and patio table with some lounge chairs. Even though it was chilly, we still enjoyed sitting there surrounded by the trees. The rocks around the outside are painted with cute animals, flowers, etc... This added such a nice touch to the gardens. I'd have to say our highlight of this cabin was the hot tub area. Jon cleaned the hot tub before our arrival, which showed he really takes care and pride in his property. The hot tub was surrounded by trees giving it a true outdoor feel. Trips like this make me realize how lucky I am to live in BC. We'll for sure be back!

The Best Host Ever!

  • 5 of 5

Our almost two week vacation was made so very enjoyable because of the owner. Not only did he make sure that everything was okay, he arranged for my partner's lost PADI Diving license to be renewed! Each of us had a favourite part of our stay, my partner loved the WIFI connection as he had work to do. It was the best he has ever had on any vacation. Our four year old loved the resident bluejays and all of the interestingly painted rocks around the property. I loved the cappuccino maker! We loved the Hidden Grove Park, kayaking around Tuwanyk, and horse back riding at Crystal Ranch.

Wonderful place for a retreat

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this ‘cabin’ for three nights in May 2014. Although this is an older home it has been treated with great care. There are two bedrooms, each with queen sized beds. The bed linens are wonderful, but the only downside to the bedrooms is that there is not a lot of closet space – but that should not really be an issue. The kitchen is wonderful; with lots of dishes etc., a newer refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, a very quiet dishwasher, a stove with oven, coffee maker, and espresso machine to not some of the equipment.

The outside of this cabin has lots of deck space, which comes with a full sized propane barbeque, a hot tub, and a propane fire pit. The grounds are well maintained with lots of quirky painted rocks scattered throughout the gardens. They are painted like animals, and insects, all adding up to a delightful scene.

Would definitely recommend this to folks that want to get away from it all – to just sit and watch the hummingbirds and delight in the greenery. The cabin is a short walk to the local beach which is on Sechelt Inlet – a great SCUBA diving destination in itself.

Great communications with the owner, Jon.
