Very neat and clean place. Close to the public beach, State Parks, and downtown Holland.
Just the right size for two but can do 3-4. Kitchen stocked with the basics. Glad we brought a fan to use at night. Great location. Quiet rd, and close to everything we needed/wanted. Loved riding our bikes to the beach everyday. Also loved having dinner on the deck every night. Thanks for your hospitality.
LOVED our weekend stay at this adorable cottage.
Even though it's not right on the water, you can see a little peek through the neighbors trees across the street from the beautiful front deck. It was the perfect spot for our little family with tons of yard for them to run around in and the perfect amount of space inside the cottage. We rented a pontoon to celebrate my mom's 60th and the boat rental/lake was RIGHT down the street so that couldn't have been more perfect! We met up with family and enjoyed time on the lake and then had dinner downtown which was about 10-15 minutes away, so just a short drive. The owner was kind & personable when we stopped at the office to get the keys & the cottage was very clean. We felt really comfortable there, even the kids didn't want to go home after the weekend was over. We will be back next summer! Thanks Bob! It was a great weekend!
Cozy cottage, good location
The cottage was clean. The location was great, just a couple of miles down the road from Holland State Park. The property itself was a good choice. We had difficulty communicating with the property owner. We sent messages through Home Away that were not answered and we left voice mail messages with the owner with questions about accessing the property but did not receive a call back until we were on the road traveling to the property. We would have enjoyed our trip much more if the owner/manager had made more of an effort to answer our inquiries. After not hearing from the owner before we started our travels, we contacted Home Away. The rep that I spoke with was wonderful to deal with and helped us to feel better by telling us that they had our backs. Home Away did a great job, the owner, however, did not. We will visit the Holland area again but we will not stay with this owner again.
A traveler like this seems to never be happy.
After booking their vacation time, they wanted to shorten their stay after months of booking it, as well be credited for that time. We honored their request and gave them a credit. even though we didn't need to due to the last minute request. We always try to work with the travels if at all possible. As for commutating I am confused with the comment. Note this traveler didn't mention this situation of how accommodating the owner was when we return the money and allowed the shorten stay. This or course could not have happened without communication and or being accommodating.
Over the past thirty years we have meet may of great travelers that have stayed at this cute little cottage. While we are sad this traveler feels as she does, sometimes it is best as we agree with her final decision.
property was not represented well in online ad.
the owner was rude and difficult to work with. inside was clean, but missing any comfort amenities, (lamp or bedside table). outside did not have any Adirondack chairs or flowers shown in ad, or place to sit by the lake. will not return.
Sometime we receive travelers that think they are renting a lake front property when in fact our listing is very clear it is not lake front so it's not possible to have a place to sit at the lake edge even though there is a view.. This cottage while very clean and nice is too small to have all the luxuries, like a lamp or bedside table. We are sorry the Adirondack chairs were missing but there were four chairs/ patio furniture on the same deck to sit. So while the Adirondack chairs were missing there was plenty of seating since there was only two people staying at this time. We take a lot of pride in keeping our cottage very clean inside and out and are very happy this traveler agrees.
The cottage is very close to the state park and many restaurants. It's on a quiet street with some views of the lake. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.
Holland isn't just a summer destination . The Summer Place cottage is available year- round! Of course there’s no better place to be in the spring than Holland's Tulip Time Festival. Known for our famous Tulip Time Festival, Windmill Island and Dutch Village just to name a few of our local attractions. Fall is a great time to take a hike and enjoy the fall colors. The cottage is surrounded by miles and miles of bike trails. In the winter curl up next to your own cozy fireplace, cross country ski, view the amazing Lake Michigan’s Icebergs. The downtown is a great place to shop even during the snowiest winter days with help of our HEATED downtown 'Snowmelt' sidewalks and outdoor fireplace. Holland’s downtown is vibrant year round and is a huge draw for locals and visitors alike year round.
