Smithfield Chalet Rental Photos and Description

Chalet, 3 Bedrooms + Bunk Area, 1 Bath, (Endless Waterheater)

Listen to the creek, watch the wildlife and be only a mile from town. This new home has Australian Cypress hardwood floors, indoor grill, heated by a Tulikivi (A soapstone fireplace from Finland), and cooled by canyon breezes. We lived here for several years and never felt the need for air conditioning. The home was designed to let the cool breezes cool it. However,we also have AC so that no one would feel any discomfort. No detail was left out on this unique layout with beautiful natural wood to create a lodge setting in a compact space. On the main floor there is one master bedroom with a king sized bed. There are two loft bedrooms accessed by a shipman’s ladder each with a queen sized bed and an additional single trundle bed. There is another raised sleeping area behind Japanese Shoji doors that houses a two twin mattresses as well as a carpeted play area. Sleeping for 10 can be easily accommodated in this unique layout. Jacuzzi tub and a home office make this a place to come home and relax after a good day skiing, hiking or biking. The kitchen is fully equipped and the home includes a washer and dryer. Bring a DVD and use our 110 inch Projection screen with surround sound. The canyon road goes for 4-5 more miles and then ends in wilderness area. With the Logan to Jackson bike race and the Top of Utah Marathon both in the valley, this home is passed everyday by athletes who are training in a beautiful setting.

Outside the house is a deluxe private playground with sand box, playhouse, swings slides and an adjustable basketball hoop for any kids who want to join you. There are 10 acres of land to take a walk across the bridges along the creek. We have seen deer (almost every day), raccoons, moose, fox, rabbits, pheasants, owls, and other wildlife that live in harmony with this home. Yet we are one mile from the post office and McDonalds. We have the benefit of quiet seclusion and still close to town. It is like our own private oasis.

We have just opened this house up as a vacation rental and wish to share a dream that we created in a beautiful setting.

For weekends, we require a two night stay unless the weekend is seven or less days away.

About The Owner

We have our home across the creek and are available for your needs.

The Owner purchased this chalet in 2001

Why The Owner chose Utah

It has great privacy and seclusion but within a few minutes of anything the valley has to offer. It is a very unique and open layout that is one of a kind.

What makes this chalet unique

Peace and quiet and being part of nature. But the warmth of the wood inside and the all natural materials such as slate and soapstone, make this very inviting. We even have a hammock swing inside to play on.

Cozy cabin in a beatiful location

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at this cabin. Tom was very helpful and the cabin was wonderful. The cabin is outfitted with everything you need, it's clean and well-kept up, and we LOVED the hammock! It's the perfect setup for families. Thanks for another great stay!

A Great Place to Stay!

  • 4 of 5

We recently stayed at this property while in town for the Bear100 Ultramarathon race. It was comfortable and met our needs. Advantages were the beautiful setting, and the "lodge" ambience. A family of deer frequented the property, and it was delightful to hear the mountain stream that flows right by the house. The evening air was beautiful and we were comfortable leaving the windows open in the nice master bedroom on the main floor. We appreciated the in-house laundry, especially after the wet and sloppy race. The only drawback may be the two upper bedroom lofts which, though they contain queen-sized beds with trundle beds, are only accessible by ladder. Relatively easy to navigate if you're young and limber, but definitely would not be appropriate if more than one couple over the age of 40 would want to stay there, a sore and stiff 100-mile ultramarathon runner, or anyone with physical accessibility issues. Steps are used to access various essential things, such as the laundry and the master closet. There are plenty of beds, and it accommodates many, which is wonderful, however has only one bathroom, which could be problematic to a larger group. The kitchen appliances are quite noisy. But all of these things are only meant to inform in case they would be important to someone. It seems well cared for, we enjoyed our time there, appreciated its peacefulness and ambience, and would recommend it as a wonderful place for young, active people to stay.

A beautiful lodge in a beautiful setting.

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay. The owner was very welcoming. We had everything we needed and lots of extras we didn't. There were quite a few stairs, might be a problem for someone with mobility issues. Would definitely go back again!

Just what the doctor ordered!

  • 4 of 5

Very unique house. Beautiful acreage. Easy to relax here. Loved the firepit. The kids loved 'their' play area and the chair swing! Tom was great to work with. Only complaint is the house needs a thorough cleaning.

Amazing home!

  • 5 of 5

We were at the tail-end of building a home, and needed a place to stay with our family of 7 for a few days while waiting to move into our new home. This VRBO was available the nights we needed. My husband's first response when pulling up to the house was, "You were supposed to find a place we'd want to leave in a few days to move into our house, not someplace we'd actually want to stay and live in forever." This home was a great diversion to the stress we had endured the final months of building our home. The kids loved their quiet loft spaces, and the character of the home is close to that of a Swiss Alp retreat. The big screen projector for movies was fun, and the outside mountain atmosphere only a mile up Smithfield Canyon brought cool, crisp breezes in the evening. The activities offered with the play set, trails, and fire pit, we fun to explore and use as well. We were excited to move into our new home at the end of our stay, but will always think of this home as our 'home' we had for a few days. Tom was a gracious host, and most kind upon check-in. Definitely a place we will refer family and friends coming into town to visit, and a close get-away for us in the future, for sure!

Amazing lodge on beautiful property

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect rental for us. It met all of our needs and the owner went above and beyond to accommodate us! The lodge is beautiful and was perfect for our family with small children. My kids had such a great time in the nook which had many toys for the kids to play with. The outside playground was also well used during our stay. My older kiddos had such a time exploring the property and playing in the river. The property was beautiful inside and out. We felt secluded yet had all of the necessary amenities plus we were close to town to get needed groceries.

We will definitely be back!
