Overview

Bahamas House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Beachwatch is a spacious 3 Bedroom 2 Bath oceanfront home directly on the best section of Guana Cay’s famous 5 mile beach. It is situated on a large 1 acre lot at the northwest corner of the Guana settlement, within easy walking distance of Nippers, Grabbers, the ferry dock, grocery store, and the liquor store. We have all the amenities of the other three bedroom oceanfront homes with a better location, and the best beach.

For those not familiar with Guana Cay, it is a barrier island located off of the main island of Abaco in the northeast Bahamas. It is accessed via a 35 minute ferry ride from Marsh Harbor, the third largest city in the Bahamas. Guana is a quiet, out of the way island with a fabulous 5 mile long white sand beach. It does have some nightlife in the form of three beachfront bars/restaurants, the most famous of which is Nippers. If you are looking for casinos, water parks, jets skis, etc, Guana is not for you. If you want quiet, relaxed, secluded beach time and great snorkeling or diving, Guana is for you.

For those familiar with Guana Cay, all you need to know is that Beachwatch is located on the beach about ¼ mile northwest of Nippers.

From the deck on top of the house, one can see far out into the Atlantic Ocean to the northeast, and all the way across the Sea of Abaco to Marsh Harbor to the southwest.

On the ocean side of the house, there is a large sundeck for relaxing and an outdoor table that seats 8 people. A walkway leads down to the white sugar sand beach, with a reef offshore a few hundred feet that offers excellent snorkeling.

The house is fully equipped with a gourmet kitchen, dishwasher, front loading washer/dryer, huge gas grill, full AC, ceiling fans, local and US telephone, free DSL internet, etc.

Beachwatch has all the amenities that you would expect in a deluxe rental, including a 26 KW auto start generator for the power outages that the Abacos are famous for.

Once you stay at Beachwatch, we think that you will agree that it is the best oceanfront rental value on Guana Cay

About Clark Lagow

This property is owned by Guana Batik, Ltd.

Clark Lagow purchased this house in 2004

Why Clark Lagow chose Bahamas

The Abacos are only 165 miles east of West Palm Beach, Florida. So getting there is fairly easy compared to locations further south such as the Virgin Islands. Until recently, it was occupied mostly by British Loyalists, who practiced fishing and boat building. The island is very laid back and friendly.

What makes this house unique

Well, first there is the great beach in front of the house. Just sunbathing on the beach reading your favorite book is very enjoyable. Then there is a nice snorkeling reef between Beachwatch and Nippers. Dive Guana will take you to some very nice dive sites in the general vicinity. If you like to sail, the Sea of Abaco is a nice place to do so, and sailboat rentals are available in Marsh Harbor. You can also rent a powerboat at Dive Guana and explore the whole Sea of Abaco (Man O War, Elbow Cay, etc.) on your own.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We love it here! The lookout is really cool. My favorite thing was swiming with a 5 foot ray. My favorite meal was coconut shrimp at Nippers.

Thanks for the stay!

We will be back!

well-appointed gem

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed many times on GGC and enjoyed this house due to its spaciousness and open living/dining/kitchen area; it is especially well set up for a family, with its 3 bedrooms and 2 baths; the outdoor spaces are great (large) and allow for guests to enjoy some quiet time; lastly, the location is perfect! the expansive front lawn leads directly to the best beach on the island! Clark was very easy to work with, and was accommodating when we had to cut our time short by one day

Great beach in a property that lives like being at home!

  • 5 of 5

The beach is awesome and some of the softest sand anywhere. The house is a wonderful location in the central part of the island.

Walking in we immediately noticed the cleanliness of the house. The layout is well designed and comfortable. A great amount of thoughtfulness was evident in anticipating any potential need. It is well provisioned with everything you could want. Plenty of towels, kitchen knives & utensils, beach chairs and children's sand toys. There was nothing needed. This even includes having a printer for our return boarding passes. It was like living in your own home.

The only negative would be the setback of the house from the water. The view from the front deck is still pretty nice! They own the property all the way to the edge of the dune and the yard is well maintained. The setback would not prevent us from coming back again.

We stayed for two weeks. This usually means killing a day buying groceries. We used the 'concierge' service offered by Albury's Ferry. We sent them our grocery, beer, wine and alcohol list. They shopped in Marsh Harbor (which is generally 20% less then the store on GGC) and had it loaded on the ferry we were scheduled to take. They provided the receipts, added a 25% service charge and billed our credit card. This worked out great! We would highly recommend using this service.

We highly recommend Beachwatch and will go back!

Perfect Vacation House

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic time at BeachWatch! The house was situated where it is a quick golf cart ride to just about anywhere - grocery store, Nipper's (quick walk), Grabber's, Dive Guana, and everything else in the Settlement. Everything you need seemed to be there including pots, pans, cooking utensils, dinner sets, garbage bags, beach toys, AC in every room, outside shower and hose, beach chairs, wifi, printer, etc. The caretaker was extremely helpful picking up and and returning us to the dock at the end of our trip and providing information about the island. Our plane on arrival was delayed and we got to Guana too late on Saturday to hit the grocery store. However, the caretaker talked the grocery store owner into opening up for Sunday for us which was really appreciated! If you like to snorkel, the reef on the beach behind the house is the best of all the locations we visited. Large number of fish - saw many interesting things including turtles, grouper, and large schools of fish. The beach and water was always calm and rivals the beauty of even Treasure Cay beach. Had fun scuba diving and renting a boat from Dive Guana. Troy was excellent as a Dive Lead taking us to several sites at Fowl Cay. The boat had GPS which greatly assisted with navigating the shallow areas and finding the ideal fishing spots. The owner, Clark, provided very useful information about Guana and was very easy to work with. Would definitely recommend BeachWatch and would love to return again.

Beautiful, Peaceful, Relaxing, Fulfilling, Wonderful, etc., etc.

  • 5 of 5

My Wife, two teenage daughters, their friend and I stayed at Beachwatch for 5 nights, experiencing a Wonderful time. The home provides on demand power generator, as well as, the required amenities you need to feel special and at home. The premises are colorful, peaceful and well kept. The house was walking distance to all restaurant, bars and docks. Of course, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world is your back yard.

The Home's sky observatory/roof deck was great for refreshing your Astronomy knowledge, watching shooting stars, and realizing that Earth, is just another grain of sand in the vast Universe. The Island's settings and people of Guana Cay are friendly and welcoming, providing a truly Island experience, from it's occasional power outage to the colorful, picturesque structures and gorgeous natural landscapes. The food is delicious, the drinks are refreshing, and the beauty of the ocean water is breath taking (take a good pair of "polarized" sunglasses so you can see what you were missing). We swam, snorkeled, and rented a boat (Dive Guana) for three days to explore distant reefs and visit other Islands. We also ate and danced at Grabbers, slept on "our" beach, walked and rented a golf cart (Donnas) to explore Guana Cay; We ate just caught, and immediately prepared White Conch Chowder at Kidd's Place, where we also made many friends; At Nippers We ate, drank, purchased gifts, swam in the pool and stared at the incredible ocean view. Along our boat expedition we fed beach swimming pigs at No Name Cay, got up close and personal with stingrays and more.

Anyway, the stay at Beachwatch was everything we expected and more! The Home Caretaker was very cordial, helpful, professional, and made sure that we felt at Home.

There will definitely be a return Trip.

Tucked away beauty

  • 5 of 5

It took 3 planes, a ferry and a golf cart to get to Beachwatch but it was worth every moment. If the phrase hole-in-the-wall makes any sense applied to the Bahamas, that about sums it up. Quiet, restful, pretty spot. The house is outfitted to please any kitchen maniac. Caught Wahoo, went snorkeling and just generally tooled around. The rooftop deck on the house is a great place to hang and be mellow over drinks. Our two boys loved it as well and they're hard to please. They both say it's better than Disney World. Highly recommended for low maintenance enjoyment.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review and I am glad your group had a great time. Guana Cay is pretty laid back, and Beachwatch has one of the best locations on Guana Cay. Golf carts are the main transportation mode on the island due to the narrow roads. Our caretaker does pick up our visitors and take them to and from the ferry dock to the house, so you don't absolutely need one, but most guests do rent one.
