About the property

Condo, 3 Bedrooms + Den, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Welcome and thank you for visiting 'Our Favorite Place'! We love our mountain home both in the winter and summer and the beautiful Victorian town of Breckenridge. We hope you will too. Our Favorite Place has an open main level, living, dining and kitchen area, with south facing floor to ceiling windows showcasing views of Mt. Baldy, Red Mountain and the ski area. Here friends and family can gather to enjoy this exquisite mountain retreat year round. It is a winter wonderland during the snow season and a dream in the cool mountain summers. Read below for the new Peak 6 skiing.

The cathedral ceilings give the living area a wonderful openness. Wood floors on the main level add mountain ambience with the added luxury of in floor radiant heating throughout. The kitchen offers granite counter tops and high end appliances. Three bedrooms, each on a different level, offer privacy for all. You will find a king bed in the master suite, a queen bed in the mid-level bedroom and twin beds in the lower level. The walk out den to the hot tub also has a sofa bed, a media center and is a place just to get away and enjoy a book alone. In addition there are tiled baths with honed travertine and tumbled travertine trim, double sink in the master bath, a stand alone shower on the mid-level, a full size washer and dryer and a private master suite on a level to its own. There is only one common wall in the duplex, no one above or below, giving you complete privacy. There is room for one car in the heated garage and another in the driveway. The home is on a private cul-de-sac with minimum traffic. Don't be surprised to see skiers zipping in front of, behind or beside our home during winter ski season.

Our Favorite Place is decorated in authentic Colorado mountain style and is located on Snowflake Trail, only a stones throw down to Snowflake Lift. The lift will whisk you up to Peak 8 where you can cruise to all other points throughout the resort or you can catch the free bus from the stop a block away to any other destination around Breckenridge. Peak 6 opened during the 2013-2014 ski season adding about 25% more skiable terrain. The Peak 6 project includes 400 acres of lift-served terrain and 143 acres of hike-to terrain including bowl terrain for intermediate skiers! So now there are five Peaks (6, 7, 8, 9 and 10) and Snowflake Lift takes you up into the heart or middle of all this fabulous terrain!

After a day of skiing, golfing, hiking, etc., spend the afternoon sitting in the hot tub or the two person Jacuzzi in the master bath, which also has a stand alone shower. The living room's focal point is the floor to ceiling stone fireplace with a raised hearth and comfy cushion great for warming up after a day on the slopes. This can be topped off with a quite evening at home or shopping, restaurants and night life await you downtown. Have a great time!

We think it is the perfect mountain town! When you get here, you’ll feel like you’re part of the town – a local – whether you’re on Main Street or up 13,000ft at the ski resort summit. From shopping to nightlife from dining to culture, you can kick-it-up or kick back, whatever your mood.

Summit County is aptly named 'Colorado's Playground.' For more than a century, people have fallen in love with picturesque Breckenridge and Summit County for its lively year-round recreational possibilities and eternal charm. Summit County is located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains just west of the Continental Divide and is approximately 90 miles west of Denver. Breckenridge is accessible by car or airport transfer with Colorado Mountain Express as well as other carriers. With our high elevations, low humidity, and Colorado's infamous sunny blue bird skies, the temperature often feels warmer than it truly is. You can fill your days skiing, touring our remarkable hiking and biking trails, rafting or kayaking the raging rivers, sailing or playing one of Summit County's five world class golf courses. In the summer, families will really enjoy Breckenridge’s Peak 8 Fun Park with 3 alpine slides, miniature golf, a maze, and bouncers, along with concessions and other attractions. Summit County offers more activities for all ages and all abilities than you could ever imagine.

The neighboring mountain towns of Frisco, Dillon and Silverthorne are situated around gorgeous Lake Dillon, just a short drive away. Summit County is the home to four world-class ski resorts including Breckenridge, Arapahoe Basin, Copper Mountain and Keystone, each of which are located within a short distance of each other. A typical multiday ski pass can cover several of these ski resorts but why leave Breckenridge! You'll have a hard time covering all the ski terrain in Breckenridge and ski-in and ski-out is available most of the ski season depending on snow conditions. Early season is sometimes iffy for the lower elevation trails. With endless winter and summer activities, Summit County plays host to nearly 3 million visitors per year. So, no matter your pleasure, you'll love Summit County, 'Colorado's Playground.' Once the snow melts, another side of Breckenridge appears. Bright blue skies, mild temperatures and colorful wildflowers make Breckenridge the ideal summer destination. If you ask any of our friendly locals why they came here they'll say: 'I came for the winter but stayed for the summer.'

Breckenridge is a shoppers’ paradise with more than 200 shops, boutiques, galleries, museums, wonderful restaurants and sports stores on and around historic Main Street. The antique appearing lamp posts line Main Street and hold baskets of sumptuous arrays of flowers in the summertime. Horse and buggy tours through this historic Victorian mining town are a favorite of many. All this is available only a short distance from our home and provides for a wonderful walk in fresh mountain air.

Enjoy your visit!

About Skipper Bennett

My wife and I grew up in western Kentucky and met at Murray State University. She later taught school all over the U.S. and Germany and I spent 20 years in the Army retiring out of the Pentagon. I was a Soviet Foreign Area Officer and worked much of my career in Russian intelligence. I then worked in the financial planning industry before retiring 9 years ago. Upon retiring, we followed our children to Colorado from Atlanta, our 21st move! Our daughter has lived in Breckenridge for almost 30 years now and our son graduated from Colorado State University. He came all the way out to Colorado from Northern Virginia as did my daughter! Our children spent a lot of their youth skiing and traveling in the Alps and migrated to the Rocky Mountains as soon as they could. We also have two wonderful grandsons and a wonderful daughter-in-law. Not only did our son and daughter-in-law get engaged in Breckenridge at a pristine lake above our Breckenridge home, they also got married in beautiful Breck! Every one skis including our grandsons, nine year old Lucas and 11 year old Joseph. We know you'll like the mountains as well as we do!

What makes this condo unique

We love Breckenridge just as much in the beautiful, clean and fresh mountain air of the summer as we do in the snowy winter where skiing, downhill and cross country, boarding, shoeing, sledding, ice skating, shopping, dining, clubbing or just great mountain walks are a thrill. A beautiful mountain lake is just up the hill from the condo which makes for a great mountain walk in both summer and winter. Our favorite moose, well you know, likes to hang out around that lake from time to time. Maybe you'll see him too! My son got engaged at that beautiful mountain setting one snowy evening. You'll love it! An incredible pristine setting!

Guestbook comments from the owner

What a joy to stay in a beautiful place that seemed like a real home. We loved the decorations. We had a wonderful family time with our children and grandchildren - our 2 yr. old tried skis on your hill and built her first snowman. What memories! Our two older grandchildren (plus the older generations) enjoyed the ski-in/out. Thanks for letting us have a great place to make wonderful memories.

Summer retreat.

  • 5 of 5

Incredible family location for the summer. We are having an epic time up here in Breck. The weather has been amazing. The home is everything we hoped it would be. Quiet neighborhood, tons of space. The mountain biking trails are unending. I haven't hit the same trail twice yet in 2 months. Road biking is safe and forever. Restaurants, restaurants and more restaurants. Cannot wait to do this again next year.

Great week of spring skiing!

  • 5 of 5

The house was well appointed with everything we needed and then some! Super easy to get to the snowflake lift and a scenic trek back (it was a bit flat but that's probably due to end of season melt). Beds were super comfy, and towels and linens were all great. Plenty of space for kids to have a place to hang out while adults relaxed and privacy for everyone at night. Thank you for sharing your home with us, we can't wait to go back to Breck!

Luxurious but cozy in a great location

  • 5 of 5

Ski-out and ski-in lift this comfortable house to the top tier. It's a duplex, not really a condo. Well-equipped and very comfortable, with all the amenities. And close to town, too. Like everything about it. Recommend highly!

Home from home

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at this condo in Mar 2015 and I have been meaning to leave a review ever since as it was an excellent venue. A fantastic home in a great location. We couldn't have asked for more and can't recommend it and the owners highly enough. The house is well appointed with plenty of space and all the facilities you need. We all loved the hot tub! It really is ski in/ski out although a little poling required on the way home.

The owners were so helpful in advance of our stay, even helped us save a fortune on ski passes by putting us in touch with a military base where my husband could use his UK military status to get military ski passes.

The cupboards were so well stocked with herbs, condiments and other such stuff that cooking was a pleasure. It was so much better for us as 2 families of 4 than staying in a hotel.

Breckenridge itself is a fantastic ski resort. Perfect for families. Hope we get to come back some day

Great Adventure 25

  • 5 of 5

This is our groups 25th year coming out to Colorado from the Midwest. This condo and Breckenridge contributed to making it a great trip. We had 6 gentlemen (mid 50s up to early 70s) staying in the condo. Plenty of sleeping room and the living room/dining area are great. Had guests over for dinner and fed 8 easily. Kitchen was a little small but functional. It was well stocked with plates, silverware, pots and pans and utensils. The radiant floor heat was superb, as was the gas fireplace ... easy to start and took the cool off the house quickly in the morning. The outside hot tub was great. Toasty warm (103) and great circulation. Well maintained and very clean. I think they drain and refill it after each stay? We didn't use the 2 man tub upstairs. Bedrooms were nice ... I especially liked the cotton flannel sheets in the master bedroom. Ski out was very easy; ski in was a little bit of a chore, but the owner gives great directions for getting there. Be ready for a little poling or skating. An alternative is to ski to the bottom and use the shuttle to get close to the house. But you still have a short walk uphill. The location is very quiet. A duplex like this is way nicer than a multi-floor condo. Garage was nicely heated with plenty of room for ski storage. Plenty of good dining and shopping opportunities in Breckenridge. Again use the city shuttle service as parking can be a problem in town. Close to grocery shopping, rental places, clothing stores, etc. International Ice Sculpture contest was in town while we were there. It was really neat, but we can't promise that. Owner was very helpful before and during the rental. Responsive via email and/or phone. He provides an excellent "hints" printout of medical facilities, ski in/ski out instructions, etc. This is also available in the condo. Thanks Skipper for a great trip.

Breckenridge was a nice hill to ski. Staff was excellent and the ski school far exceeded our expectations. Lots of variety from green to blues. Had people skiing the tops from the T Bar, and a friend's daughter taking ski lessons (went from beginner to blues in 1 day). So it meets all the needs of a family or group with varying skill levels.Lift ticket purchases were handy to the lift downhill from the condo.
