Truly Paradise on Blue Hill Bay -MDI- Acadia National Park
Popover is one of 4 cottages available to rent on this large waterfront property.
The living space faces south and west for spectacular sunset views. There is a brand new West Elm sleep sofa in the main living room. The sleeping loft hosts a king bed. Access is a very sturdy ladder-like stairway.
The kitchen is creatively functional. Single burner unit, electric fry pan, large toaster oven, mini microwave, large dorm-style fridge, and deck side BBQ make this a great space for easy-peasy cooks. Coffee & tea kettle included.
Other cottages on this property include:
Barnacle (sleeps 4), RabbitHole (sleep 4-5), & Boathouse (2)
September & October are also amazing vacation weeks here on MDI. Book your week ASAP
We rent Saturday to Saturday, only!
We would love to secure your vacation time on MDI here at Barnacle Landing. The VRBO connections have been wonderful and everyone has expressed their wonder and amazement at our best-kept secret, the cottages on the bay. Renters are still saying this place 'exceeds expectations'. What else can we say? Come see for yourselves.
This family-run property offers a quiet respite steps from Acadia National Park. The cottages are kid friendly and have great decks for sunsets, b-b-q's and playing. (Sorry, no pets) The surrounding woods are nature's masterpiece quintessential Maine. There is lots more we offer, email me for details of Barnacle Landing, on the WESTSIDE of MDI off Tremont Road.
The property is 1500 feet of shoreline and the cove proves to be a great place to explore Maine marine life and geology. Nearby, Pretty Marsh is chock full of places to explore in our kayaks and rowboats. The harbor is home to seals, porpoises, great blue heron, osprey and frequent eagles. Fishing and crabbing is always a great way to spend your time.
If you like to swim in the ocean, there are ladders at the dock and a gravel beach to wander in and out of the waves. Of course, there are warmer ponds and lakes very nearby, too.
The 40 acres surrounding the cottages are full of woodsy pathways and mossy areas for exploring. There are mussels to collect at low tide and you can steam your own lobsters on the deck of your house. And, SUNSET is an amazing feature here on the west side of Mount Desert Island.

About Sheila Eddison
My husband, David, & I have lived on MDI since 2008. We made a life switch from 'the city' and love this place. We are lucky to have work in winter to sustain us- that is the challenge on MDI. Treat the locals with respect, they give it their all in summer!
Sheila Eddison purchased this Cottage in 1955
Why Sheila Eddison chose Tremont
This camp has been in the family for over 60 years. It's very well maintained and improved- it's stellar for a cottage in the Maine woods, on the WEST SIDE of MDI where the sunset rocks. No musty smells!
What makes this Cottage unique
Peace and quiet of the woods and shore are fabulous. Access to the National Park and coming home to Barnacle Landing are worth the energy to get here.

Our Perfect Retreat
We have been vacationing regularly at Mount Desert Island for the past 25 years and consider it 'a piece of heaven that dropped from the sky'. It wasn't until we stayed at the Barnacle, last summer, we grew a further appreciation of the Island. The setting is tranquil, and the spirit is extraordinarily peaceful. The views are breathtaking, especially in the early morning mist. The deck, which overlooks the bay, was the perfect setting for reading, doing yoga, playing cards or having our meals. The house was spotless and perfectly suited with games, comfortable furnishings and a well equipped kitchen. The private pier offered us the use of kayaks and a nice place to lounge on the bay. Dave and Sheila even took all the renters out on their sail boat one evening. Area restaurants were terrific and all our shopping needs were close by. Our children didn't even notice the fact there was no TV. It was the perfect vacation.
A piece of heaven
This will be our 3rd summer coming back to Rabbit Hole with our family, and we intend to come back every year for as long as possible! Truly a spectacular setting that we find to be so invigorating and grounding. Nothing but fresh air, nature's beauty and quality family time. Our days are usually full of hiking and biking around Acadia National Park, heading back to the cottage to swim and use the canoes at the dock, then eating dinner on the porch watching the sun set over the water. Couldn't be better! The cottage is rustic, which we love, and always clean and well-equipped. The owners are very friendly and helpful too. Our kids love it as much as we do! We highly recommend the Barnacle Landing Cottages.
This is all about Acadia National Park, a playground for the young and their elders. There truly is something for everyone. We are in a deep water cove so you can anchor your own boat and stay ashore!
