New Mexico Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

Casa Angeles is located in the Lincoln National Forest just two miles off a main road in Ruidoso. Perched at the foot of a mountain on one and one-half acres, the quiet serenity of the surroundings make it a perfect getaway for couples or individuals looking for a spiritual retreat in nature. Cedar Creek runs throughout the property with the delightful sound cascading water falls. All the wildlife stop by for a delicious drink of cool water.

The cabin has one bedroom upstairs in the loft that accesses a private deck where deer, birds and other wildlife will pass by. The second bedroom is downstairs, making privacy for two couples. The cabin has central heat, ceiling fans and wood stove. Casa Angeles was built in 2004 and is the owners' second home. They have furnished it in a way that makes you feel like it's your home too. The kitchen is fully stocked with staples and cookware making it easy to go to the store for the main items and prepare delicious meals in the comfort of your retreat. There's a washer/dryer supplied with eco-friendly products for your convenience.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin: Casa Angeles represents peace and tranquility. There's only one other cabin in sight. The cabin is stocked with everything you need to come in and make yourself at home. The deck in the back is the perfect perch to sip on your favorite beverage and watch the deer, elk or turkey go by. There's great hiking without driving anywhere but if you choose to go into town it's only 5 minutes. Best of all worlds.

About Forsyth

We are Russell and Beckie Forsyth from Austin, Texas. We have been visiting New Mexico...The Land of Enchantment for over 30 years thanks to friends that moved there. Summer 2001 was just too hot in Santa Fe so we checked the weather for the coolest spot in the state. It was Ruidoso. We drove in and fell in love with the community, the weather and the landscape. Over the next 5 years we kept visiting and visualizing our own home there. In 2006 we were blessed with selling a property in Austin that made it possible. Just when the money was there Casa Angeles was waiting for us...just as we had visualized with privacy, close to town, easy access and running water (year round so far). We're so blessed!

Forsyth purchased this cabin in 2006

Why Forsyth chose New Mexico

Our vision was to have a property that felt remote but wasn't. The tall pines, running creek and the privacy in a setting that was quiet were all things that made Casa Angeles the perfect place for us.

What makes this cabin unique

Casa Angeles represents peace and tranquility.

Guestbook comments from the owner

dear forsyths , my wife and I stayed at casa Angeles oct 8-13. We wish to thank you for sharing your home with us . It was great to leave the heat of the valley and cool off in r. It was 40s at night and 60s in day. We did the usual tourist stuff , walked in the woods a lot and slept late. Everything was perfect with the house . We did stumble into a "cowboy reunion" events at the race track . Probably 5k people there and world class country western music . It is apparently annual . Thanks B

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

The place looks just like in the photos. Location is just right far enough from neighbors yet close enough to town. It was really a vacation for us. We could have just stayed in but we wanted to try the restaurants. We got up whenever we wanted to, eat in for breakfast, then head out. No itinerary to follow. Would love to go back for sure!

Cozy cabin nestled into mountainside

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Casa Angeles. The cabin is furnished beautifully and with all practical needs. We saw countless mule deer grazing in the yard and along the opposite mountain slope. We saw 3 bull elk directly across the drive on one occasion, and another bull elk walking up the driveway to the cabin on a separate occasion. Also wild turkeys, chipmunks, squirrels, and various birds.

The cabin is located in the national forest, but only 5 to 10 minutes from a grocery store and Ruidoso. Easy day trips include White Sands National Monument and Three Rivers Petroglyph Site, both worth the effort and enjoyable.

The owners have done a wonderful job of blending their beautiful cabin into the natural setting of the mountains and Cedar Creek. Rates 5 stars in all regards!

Perfect for a family of 4!

  • 5 of 5

Our family really enjoyed your cabin! Although we were gone most of the day at a baseball tournament, we enjoyed the quiet mornings with all the wildlife and the evenings watching movies! The cabin is equipped with everything you could possibly need. Thanks again for sharing your home with us!

Great cabin!

  • 4 of 5

Cute, clean, well maintained cabin! Perfect for a small family or couple. Has all one could need for a quiet, device-free vacation! Owners provide all kinds of fun extras too (golf clubs, discs for disc golf, blowup mattress for the deck, etc.)! Would have given 5 stars, but it was not quite as secluded as expected but still in a great area with hiking just down the road. Enjoyed our visit! Thanks for sharing your home with us!

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to post your review of your stay at our cabin. We always strive for 5 stars but accept your reasoning for the 4 star review. We are sorry the seclusion was not what you expected. This is not a complaint we've ever received but I will attempt to respond for the benefit of others. With only one cabin within sight (not permanently occupied or rented) and located on the other side of our 1.5 acre lot otherwise surrounded by forest, to get more seclusion one might need to be more out of town on acreage. Casa Angeles is located less than 10 minutes from town so it has the benefit of quiet, "neighborhood" seclusion and being very convenient to all the activities Ruidoso has to offer.

Beautiful Cabin! Amazing Location!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is in a very nice location and well maintained. It was a perfect setup for two couples and would be great for a family. We were able to drive to Ski Apache in under 45 minutes with minimal road conditions and it's very close to the A-Frame Ski Shop, which we used for rentals. We'll definitely be staying here again and highly recommend to anyone visiting Ruidoso or surrounding area.

Ruidoso is a ski resort village but summers are perfect. Cool temperatures make for great nature outings of all kinds. You can also find museums, shopping, horse racing, theater among the past times. At the Casa it's peace and quiet with wildlife and a good book that are the best.

Hiking, walking and being in nature is the big attraction at Casa A. The silence of the secluded area with the sound of Cedar Creek as it falls over beautiful rocks make it a perfect place to contemplate life and journal your heart out. New Mexico enacts measures to protect their night sky, therefore, the star gazing is wonderful on clear nights. When you tire of the silence, you can watch movies or listen to music or go into town and shop, visit the museums or reserve a night at the Spencer Theatre.

Ruidoso installed a fabulous 18 hole disc golf course at Grindstone Lake. It's mountain golf at it's best. This course hosted the New Mexico Disc Golf Championships here in 2013. If you don't have your own discs, there's some at the casa to use during your stay.

Other Activities: shopping, snowboarding, wildlife viewing, spa, mini golf
