Overview

About the property

House, yard, dock, 5 Bedrooms, 4.5 Baths, (Sleeps 11), Downtown Rockville

This is a fabulous house in a spectacular one and one half acre garden setting. It is a well loved family home that we have owned since 1986. Our children have learned to water ski, sail, crab, fish, swim and kayak right off of the convenient and charming deep water dock.

The house was built in the 1970's. It is on three levels but the middle floor is the main living floor with two large wings on each side with bedroom/bath (queen beds) in each wing with walk in closets and with balconies The kitchen and great room with fireplace occupy the central part of the house and open onto a fabulous screened porch overlooking the dock, oak trees and the creek. The floors are heart pine. The walls are also pine. There is a loft overlooking the great room with a full bath and three single beds.

The great room has a glass top table that seats 8, a farm table that seats 8, a long counter that seats 8. On the screened porch there is another glass top table that seats 6.

Our crab pots are bringing in lots of crabs. Sitting at the counter with a pile of crabs and lots of newspaper is one of our favorite things. We have crab pots and a large pot in which to cook them.

On the ground level is a large room overlooking the creek with a queen bed, sofa and 2 chairs and stone fireplace. It opens onto a smaller bedroom with queen bed. Each room has its own access to the shared bath. It can be used as a suite, or two separate bedrooms.

The house is easily shared by several couples either with children or without. The bedrooms are widely separated and each has its own bath.

The dock is great for boating, swimming or fishing/crabbing , and boating We have a fleet of boats for your use. Included in the fleet are three kayaks, one canoe, one Sunfish, and a 15' foot jon boat with a 20hp electric start Yamaha. (We do have papers to sign before this boat can be used). Additional kayaks and boats can be rented at the Cherry Point Boat Landing. They also offer sunset cruises and nature tours. or you can enjoy your own boat or our jon boat. Check the website for Bohicket Boat.

About Jamie Molony

The house is owned by 2 sisters. We are both in our 60's, both have 3 grown children. One sister is a retired librarian, married to a retired physician. The other is a retired psychotherapist. She and her husband have sailed their boat from Adams Creek to Europe and the Mediterranean where they now spend their summers.

Jamie Molony purchased this house in 1986

Why Jamie Molony chose Charleston Area

This home was bought by our parents as a family gathering place. The house is roomy and comfortable and ideal for a family. Rockville is a 200 year old charming village full of gorgeous oak trees and charming houses. It is a five minute walk from our house. We are situated on a deep creek that has expansive views over the marsh to the North Edisto River. The setting is gorgeous.

We are boat people so having a true deep water dock is very important to us. The floating dock is 40' long and has 6 + feet of water at low tide. The intracoastal waterway (ICW) and the Atlantic Ocean are both in close distance. There is a boat landing nearby so bring your own boat or rent one near the boat landing.

Wadmalaw Island is a unique place. It is close to Charleston (about 35 minute drive). But it is a world away. It is protected, quiet, natural, un-commercial. However, you can buy shrimp from the docks and a few groceries at PM King's old fashioned grocery store; you can attend the charming Grace Chapel Episcopal Church or the Rockville Presbyterian Church. You can attend the 200-year old Rockville Regatta. You can visit a tea farm or a winery. You can have your boat repaired. You can rent a boat or take sunset cruises or nature tours from the nearby Bohicket Boat Company. You can drive 15 minutes to several fabulous restaurants.

And if you need more city-life, Charleston is a 35 minute drive, offering all the shopping, history, culture you could desire.

What makes this house unique

In the summer we love to jump in the water, sail or catch crabs off of the dock. Adams Creek is ideal for kayaking and we have 3 kayaks, a conoe, and a Sunfish for your use. We also have made available a 14' jon boat with 20 hp motor which you may use if you demonstrate sufficient knowledge of boats and the water. Many types of boats are easily rented from Cherry Point Boat Landing. We enjoy taking boat trips to Botany Bay or Seabrook Island. We enjoy sunset cruises or sitting on the gazebo facing the western setting sun.

We also love to sit on the dock watching dolphin swim, fish jump or osprey fish. You can quietly read a book or perhaps write your own.

The set-up is perfect for cooking and entertaining. The fabulous, attractive kitchen is well equipped and has lots of granite counter space and cabinets. The pantry/laundry room is right behind the Sub Zero refrigerator and contains another refrigerator and a dedicated stand up freezer,

Our dogs love to run through the trees. If you want to bring your dog, please discuss that with us.

This is just a really nice house in which to spend time. It's nice to have everything on one floor, but then to have the ground level and the loft as places to escape.

Great Home, Close to ski slopes. Owner is very quick to respond and very accomodating

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at this Snoqualmie Pass home. The kitchen is fully stocked - you will not need to bring anything! There is plenty of room and a fun game room downstairs. There are many movies and xbox games to play too. You will NOT be disappointed in your stay! Great location - minutes to the ski slopes. This was our second time here and we will back again!

Great location. Plenty of room for big families to spread out. However. The home was messy and unkept. Lots of personal belongings, inside and out, which made it seem like we were intruding in a strangers home.

Owner's Response: We are disappointed that the home did not meet your expectations as we try very hard to maintain the high standards that have earned this property consistently excellent reviews over the years. After our follow up telephone conversation with you, it was helpful to know that your reference to messy and unkept dealt with trash disposal. We discussed this with the housekeeper who acknowledged the outside disposal containers were full. When pressed if she was sure all inside containers were emptied, she said she felt sure they were, but could have missed one. The house was used Christmas day by members of the family and your visit started on December 26. Because the property is located in a rural area, there is no municipal trash service, so we contract with a private firm to provide trash and garbage disposal, and it seems that service was interrupted and pickup days altered for the Christmas Holidays. We did not realize and apologize that it was not picked up until your second day there. The property is in a very rural setting, and sometimes the trash containers are visited by raccoons and the neighborhood dogs, and if the containers are full and not locked shut, these unscheduled visitors can really create a mess outside. We do leave a number of personal items in the house that we think might be helpful to our guests. The home is 15 minutes away from the nearest store, so we do try to leave items that we have found to be helpful over the years for our guests. The house is a real special vacation home for our families. As such, we have a number of personal recreational items such as kayaks, a jon boat with 20 hp motor, life preservers, fishing tackle, oysters cookers and tables, charcoal grills, foul weather gear and a variety of jackets and hats, frogmore stew pots, children's toys and games, adult bicycles, lawn furniture, dock furnishings, etc. which we use ourselves and which we make available to our guests for their enjoyment at no extra charge. All we ask is that the guests care for and respect the equipment as if it were their own; return it clean and in the condition they found it; and return it to the place they found it. When renting through VRBO/Home Away we want our guests to feel that it is their home away from home and apologize that we did not manage to make you feel that way. We will review the home and see if we can remove items that may seem more personal than necessary. Thank you and we hope you try us again.

Loved our time on Wadmalaw Island.

  • 5 of 5

The home is great with plenty of room for some to find space alone and yet large enough spaces to enjoy time together as a larger group. There was nine of us. This home offers a country setting in Rockville on Wadmalaw island but yet close enough to Chatleston to enjoy all the big city has to offer and the beach is only 25 minutes away as well. Everyone enjoyed the dock with kayaks, boat and swimming/fishing. We would love to come back if we have the opportunity.

BEYOND WHAT WE EXPECTED.

  • 5 of 5

We decided to come to Kiawah for a weeklong vacation. We thought this house looked gorgeous and it was well priced for the 13 of us and we could not have been happier with the decision we made! The location of this house is amazing and the sunsets and sunrises are to die for. The Home was very clean and you can tell very well care for. The Furniture was lovely all throughout the house. The kitchen was very well stocked for our large family. We had everything we needed to cook every night and they even had a broiler so we were able to boil some crabs we caught out on the beautiful dock. The common rooms are very large in size which gave everyone a place to sit and relax but not be all in each other’s space. We loved being able to enjoy the bikes and boats that were provided. The house was very well stocked for all ages. Games, a beautiful tree swing, large porch The children beautiful dock (fully stocked). The neighbors own a beautiful shrimp boat and seeing them come and go was amazing. The owner was amazing, very easy to contact and came to us if we needed anything. It felt like a second home just out in the country and we loved every minute of our vacation We will definitely be back next year. We highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a good time with amazing scenery.

Enchanting sunsets in a fabulous home with the perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

We were able to stay for a long weekend in Wadmalaw, and we could not have been happier! The house is gorgeous and the location is FIVE STAR! The view of the sunset through that massive, twisting live oak from that amazing porch so close to the water's edge is just breathtaking! The home was clean, the furnishings are lovely as well as comfortable and more than your average rental. Kitchen is well stocked with everything you need, and having 2 refrigerators and a freezer was a huge plus! Bedrooms are both beautiful and comfortable as well as spread out, so everyone enjoyed their private time. The common areas are large and comfortable with plenty of space and a seat for everyone. The children especially enjoyed the play things available inside and out - toys, swings, a huge porch and a lovely garden lawn to romp on by the water. We enjoyed watching the dolphins swim by every day and catching crabs with the crab trap provided. A special surprise was watching the shrimp boats next door come in in the morning. The kids loved watching them dock and it drew a large flock of gulls and pelicans. Just spectacular! It was quite a sight for everyone.

The owner was very accommodating and easy to work with. It is evident this home is well loved and maintained and they made us feel very welcome. I regret we weren't there long enough to enjoy the boats and bikes provided, but we will definitely return for a longer stay and bring more of the family back with us! This is the perfect spot for a large family vacation. Highly recommended!

Perfect Birthday Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My family celebrated celebrated a milestone birthday weekend here and honestly, no one wanted to leave on Sunday morning. The views from this house are spectacular and the sunsets are not to be missed. The main floor of the house has a great open floor plan with comfortable bedrooms and baths on either side of the main living area. It opens on to a huge screened porch overlooking one of the most amazing old oak trees I've ever seen. The screened porch has a lovely seating area as well as an additional dining area. The kitchen was well-equipped with two refrigerators plus a deep freeze. It was also very conducive to hosting a large birthday party. The downstairs worked well as a separate base for my daughter's family with small children, The children had a great time playing and swinging in the waterfront backyard and the adults loved fishing and paddleboarding off the dock.
