Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

The house and the area are wonderful. It is where communities farm and watermen make their living in a glimpse into an era gone by but, still preserved, in the Northern Neck. There are great opportunities for recreation, observation and relaxation.

About The Owner

Hello, my name is Steve Hansen and my wife is Alexandra Gifford. We are co-owners of the Irvington golf house. I was a teacher for 22 years and Zan is currently working on her 33rd year teaching. We love to get down to the property, she lets me play golf if I promise to play a set of tennis. We love to canoe and one of our goals is to canoe to Charlies Tiki Bar where we can beach the canoe and walk up for cocktails!.

The Owner purchased this house in 2005

Why The Owner chose Chesapeake Bay - Northern Neck

We chose this particular house because it is directly on King Carter Golf Course and has two other courses only a five minute drive away. There are two vineyards very close by, not to mention Chesapeake Bay and the Rappahanock River close enough to get to in minutes.

What makes this house unique

The property is a quiet residential neighborhood on the golf course. There is an abundence of wild life in the area and a 'bluebird trail' just outside the back screened porch.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We want to let know we had a wonderful stay in your lovely home! We enjoyed how clean and peaceful it was! Wednesday night we all agreed that none of us can ever have seen so many stars in the sky. It was so beautiful!

Lovely home, convenient to everything in the Northern Neck

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed 4 nights at this home in July, and really loved the property and community. We don't golf, but we used the beautiful community pool everyday. We love to ride bike in the area, and it was a great way to relax after a nice morning ride. We found the owners very easy to communicate with, and the house well stocked. The screened porch with a ceiling fan made it possible to enjoy the outdoors, even in the high heat.

Amazing House - Perfect for a Couple and Dogs!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I wanted a low-key/local getaway to celebrate our one year anniversary before our cruise that we were taking in August. I was looking for a place that would allow us an opportunity to relax, not have eat out every meal, visit some vineyards, and bring the dogs. This house scored on all four counts! It is absolutely adorable, with the cutest rooms! The location is amazing - it is in a nice little development, right on the golf course. My husband was so content to just relax in the huge, screened in back porch with a glass of wine, the dogs, and watch the golf course.

The house is close to about four vineyards and a couple of good places to eat. This is also the perfect place for dogs. If it hadn't been 100 degrees that weekend, we definitely would have brought them to the vineyards with us! Instead they were content on staying in the house and laying on the cool wood floors.

I was also happy to see that the kitchen was stocked with supplies, there were plenty of DVDs, and there was satellite tv and wifi. And despite the extreme heat, the house was very cool. And to top it off, the owners were extremely responsive and easy to work with.

Everything was absolutely wonderful at this house and I would definitely come back! I am keeping this location on my wish list!

Wonderful house!

  • 5 of 5

This vacation home was every bit and more than we expected (better than the pictures) – a bright, clean, and well-equipped 3 bedroom 2 bath with a lovely screened in porch. My spouse and I stayed there with our two young adult children while visiting close relatives nearby. We enjoyed use of the community pool and DVDs from the video library under the coffee table. Internet service would have been a plus, but we managed fine without it. Communication by phone and email with Alexandra, the owner was friendly and easy. This is in fairly rural Virginia with cute small main streets in Irvington and other nearby towns, a few restaurants providing Chesapeake Bay delights (crabs, oysters, fish), waterways all around, and relatively nearby colonial and fishing history landmarks (e.g..Williamsburg, Christ Church ,Tangier Island).

Go for the history

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I and our cairn terrier Dougald thoroughly enjoyed our four day stay at this spacious and well equipped modern bungalow in the “Northern Neck” area of tidewater Virginia. The house features an attractive totally screened in sun porch overlooking a public golf course. Dougald seemed endlessly fascinated by the golfers. I think he was trying to figure out what they were doing. The location proved a good base from which to explore Yorktown and Colonial Williamsburg, if you don’t mind a bit of a drive (slightly over one hour) through the attractive rural countryside. If you are into history, two closer attractions which definitely warrant a visit are the steamship museum in Irvington and the fishermen’s museum in Reedsville.
