Lanikai Loft is located steps away from the most scenic beach in the US and feels like living in the trees with a wonderful view of the mountains, yard and partial ocean view. Access to swimming and kayaking by beach or beach easement . Enjoy your own private entrance. The loft design is a complete one bedroom apt and is very open with lots of windows along with an A/C unit. There is a view from almost any window, beautiful bamboo flooring and amazing ocean breezes. There are three sliding doors onto the lanais. The bedroom is also large with king bed and private from the rest of the unit. The laundry area is downstairs. We have a small carbon footprint, as we have a solar system.
The Mokulua Islands are just a short paddle (20 minutes) away. We have kayaks for rent on site and free bicycles. We also have a guide onsite who can give you a tour of the islands. The ridge hike (also 20 minutes) gives you a great view of the entire area from Lanikai to Kailua.
Most of the beach necessities - umbrella, chairs, coolers beach towels etc. are available.
This is a non smoking residence.
Off street parking There is a walking, bike path which circles the community of Lanikai (about 2 miles).
The (Kailua) town is about 2 miles away and is a very comfortable town for walking and shopping where you will find lots of restaurants, grocery stores and shops.
Keywords: One bedroom apartment., views, beautiful garden, near world class beach, One bath with large tub and shower and full kitchen. A/C
I raised my children in the house located on the property and have lived in Lanikai since 1977. I love hosting guests as it is a very enriching experience and made several friends as a result.
Kailua is a fun town to spend time in. There are lots of good restaurants, antique shops and many interesting mom-and-pop businesses. The ocean sports are world class. Especially fun is exploring the three islands that are off-shore. The ridge hike gives guests an instant feeling of place since it has a view in any direction. The Lanikai loop is about 2-1/2 miles and there is a dedicated walking biking path so it is very convenient and safe to walk, bike, or run.
Thank you for our wonderful stay at your charming rental this past week. My sister and I had a very relaxing time together with lots of talking, laughing, reading and just enjoying beautiful Lanikai. Your yard is lovely - what a treat to be able to sit and relax in such a beautiful setting. We really appreciate the friendliness of you and your family. Everyone was so nice and welcoming, including your dog and cat. We loved our stay and weren't ready to leave but we will definitely be back
We had a fantastic stay in this beautiful unit. It was clean and spacious with views from all sides + two decks, big kitchen, etc., etc. Most importantly, the Owner who lives downstairs was wonderful! She helped with anything we needed and has bikes and gear for borrowing or rental. It is a great package and best experience we have had. A great place at a great value!
This is a fine place for 1-3 people to relax, in one of Oahu's most pleasant areas. The owner's description hasn't exaggerated anything, and the photos suggest the generous space and open floor plan that the loft has. It's a second-floor addition on top of a one-floor house where the owner, Lynn, and her family live. It has its own entrance. The king-size bed is extraordinarily comfortable. You'll get every breeze that the nearby ocean generates, and the windows on all sides of the loft give you views of the Lanikai hills, or the lush garden in the back, or the palm trees on various sides. Lynn and her family are most friendly and helpful, but not intrusive. You can be out the door and in the ocean within a minute or two, or walk a little longer down to the famous Lanikai beach. The nearby town of Kailua has a number of good grocery stores and places to eat. Honolulu is half an hour away over the mountains. The drive along the windward side of the island is breathtakingly beautiful. I've been coming to Oahu for a dozen years since retiring and during that time have checked out a number of possible places to stay -- to my mind this is as good a combination of location and price as anything on the island.
Lynn's loft apartment was more beautiful than the pictures. It was spacious for three adults. We made most of our meals in the more than adequate kitchen. Kailua town was close by but far enough for the area to feel like a neighborhood. Because the weather was fairly warm, I loved the breezy outside appeal of the bedroom. All the amenities were provided and the 2 lanais really added to the enjoyment. It was a plus that the beach access was a short walk away, with an outside hot water shower after a day at the beach. Lynn was a warm hostess with unforgettable aloha! I would recommend this place to my friends. The overall relaxed feel of the place made it one of the best vacations to Oahu.
The place was nice, very welcoming and looked exactly like the online description. There are 3 major issues though:
- The nearby road is extremely noisy and has non stop traffic through the night. You will have to choose between heat and humidity if you close the windows, or noise from the road through out the night
- The crowd on Lanikai beach is not friendly. There are a lot of people bringing their dogs through out the day, and it smells a lot like dog pee. There are also a lot of military guy on the beach listening to loud music. I had to go to Kailua beach every day (2 miles drive) to get some quiet time
- The only road is very crowded, with a lot of people driving slowly and looking for parking, creating a non stop traffic jam. Getting to Kailua can take quite a bit of time (One day, it took me over 10 minutes to drive one mile)
This was a very nice place. Lynne was very hospitable, and the room (apartment, really) was very comfortable. I stayed a for a week, and slept well each night. It is worth noting that the bed is a Tempurpedic which is a nice change from the typical hotel bed). The location is beatiful, and the beach is a short walk away. There is a nice bicycle/walking lane on the road which I used for long walks and jogging. The location is also nice if you are commuting into Pearl Harbor. Takes about 35 minutes in traffic, and there was actually not that much traffic (unlike the commute from Waikiki).
Although the room did not have A/C, it had plenty of airflow and with the ceiling and desk fan it was cool enough to sleep at night and comfortable during the day. It is a bit noisy for a light sleeper (wind in the treas, birds, cars driving by, etc.), which I am. However, I just used earplugs and slept fine. If you like your room really dark, then you might want to bring eye covers. The noise and the light are no worse than what you would get in a good hotel room (actually, more pleasant as I like the natural sounds), the only reason I mention it is that I would want to be reminded to bring earplugs as well.
The main part of the apartment (kitchen, dining and living rooms) was very pleasant, and it was all well decorated.
I will definitely try to stay here if I ever need to go out to HI again.
This place was amazing the pictures do not do it justice ! Breeze felt on both decks and throughout the apartment. Views of beautiful garden and back drop of mountainside are just what we imagined Hawaii to be. Best night sleep! This bed was incredible! Everything we could have needed... Bikes kayaks & close to town we didn't even need a car! Private & quiet! We booked for next year! Thanks Lynn
Lanikai is a favorite beach of many people. The water sports are never-ending. The list would include swimming, snorkeling, boating (kayak, one-man, outrigger), stand-up boarding and surfing. Nearby on the beachside are the beautiful Mokulua Islands. It is an easy 20 minute paddle and once there, you can walk around to the backside. It feels otherworldly. Also down the street is the pathway to the Pillbox hike. From the top, there is a 360 degree view of the windward side.
