We always wanted a place on the Umpqua River. Finally found this in 2008. We completely gutted and remodeled the property. We spend as much time as we can here. We love to raft, fish and relax in the sun. This is the perfect place to do that.
Joanna purchased this house in 2008
The weather is absolutely perfect. Great fishing and rafting.
Private beach, warm weather, beautiful deck to sit and look at the river and relax.
We stayed for 5 nights August 12 to 18th, my husband, and my two boys, 19 and 17. We loved the house, large kitchen and the three bedrooms. Everything was perfectly clean. Joanna left a basket with goodies for us and the kitchen is fully stocked (dishes, pots, pans, etc.) and had spices and condiments for our use which was very convenient. We washed clothes every day in the comfortable laundry room, allowing us to not have wet/dirty clothes in our luggage. We had several meals out on the huge deck, looking at and hearing the river down below, a great experience.
The location of the property is also perfect, close to the bridge and then the Bullock Road drive to Elkton is just magnificent, like a fairytale. We booked a fishing charter with TheOregonAngler.com and caught over 300 fish, small mouth bass. Amazing experience just down Bullock Road about 5 miles. Also, we paid a land use fee to the Big K Ranch down the road before Elkton and fished off shore also caught at least 80 fish. If you like fishing, this is the place.
My boys got two inner tubes and boarded them at the river in the house back-yard, and rode the river, while fishing, for 3 miles down to the recreation area down the road as well. My husband were waiting for them at the recreation site. That was a lot of fun for our boys, like an amusement park ride. They also caught fish along the way.
Elkton has a great restaurant, promoted on TripAdvisor, Tomaselli's Pastry Mill & Cafe. We had breakfast there twice, and their cinnamon rolls fresh from the oven are unbelievable. For larger supplies we drove to Sutherlin, which is about equal distance South. Very convenient location for the house, which was an added benefit.
Overall, I recommend this property. It could have held many more people, with the great deck and pristinely manicured lawn and land. A great fishing get-away for our family. Thank you!
There are very few places like this around that you'd want to stay in. This is one of the few. Great Riverfront location with many activities in the area and other campgrounds too. You can stay comfortably in this house while relatives camp down the road at Tyee or across at Umpqua Riverfront RV Park. Either way, you get a real home, privacy and a wonderful stay. Nice get away place.
My family stayed at what we call "The River House" for five days in July, 2015. This was our third stay. The house is absolutely lovely with three beautifully furnished bedrooms. The kitchen is well-designed for more than one cook and has everything needed for preparing meals. The back deck is huge; a great place for family get-togethers. My grandchildren enjoy the large lawn for baseball games and love the private beach and floating down the Umpqua River. We definitely plan a fourth stay in the future.
Had our wedding reception here, and it was perfect. Right along the river for guests to cool off in the summer. Plenty of room in the backyard, and space for pitching a few tents, so that no one has to drive when they shouldn't. House is perfect for couple to relax and regain sleep before heading out on their honeymoon.
My family and I stayed a few nights in this amazing home, and had a blast. The house was spotless, beautiful, and very comfortable. It completely exceeded any expectations my husband and I had... and we wish we could have stayed longer. He and I are already talking about going back this summer with friends for a full week. The views are amazing, and the property owners have added so many fun little touches. I HIGHLY suggest booking this rental if you need a place to stay in the Oakland area.
A PERFECT wedding destination! Several campsites overlooking the river, with power. Nice, updated, three-bedroom house with beautiful kitchen, including granite counters, fireplace, nice baths, great decor, river deck, etc., etc. Lovely lawn area for a large wedding tent and same on other side of the house for the wedding ceremony, overlooking the Umpqua river, with a beautiful wooden structure framing it all. Good river access below the house. We hope to spend a week here next summer for a family reunion. Great vacation rental!
