Welcome to our family friendly beach front home on the sand in Oceanside. We like to think of it more like a beachfront cottage. le mer,” 'by the sea'.

You are sitting back staring at a setting sun from the living room of the beach house, just steps from the sand; with your fire pit flames drifting upwards to the sky on a private beach area. Barbecue and cocktails on the meny, mixing your drinks and grilling meats with the salty sea breezes; you will feel like this is the best place on earth. Forget the expense to travel to France, I will vacation in Southern California, in the beachfront community of Oceanside directly on the sand.

Many have spent their leisure days sand sculpting, shell hunting, sun soaking or sunset and dolphin watching in our comfortable beach home. And so can you. Be one of our many guests that have returned year after year and made this slice of heaven their own beach vacation home.

This home is an amazing place to stay. There really is nothing quite like the sights and sounds of beachfront living and having a private beach area to enjoy. The balcony is a perfect place to sit and enjoy your morning breakfast or evening dinner as you listen to the waves tossing and rolling in. Beach Fun

My family and I have stayed at this location three times and we love it. It has several amenities and space for a family of 6. It has breathtaking views of the ocean, both inside and out. The kitchen and living room are spacious. We always enjoy our time. Great place to stay for a nice week on the beach. Love it!

Beach stay

We found the view incredible. However the accommodations were not up to standard. Calls to contact person Eileen were not returned in a timely manner. The smoke alarms were missing in all rooms except kitchen area. There was no carbon monoxide alarm. The door to the master bathroom was off track and was not repaired for four days after notification . The lock to gate on beach could not be used completely rusted out. The water on out shower area was leaking. All that we were told was they were not aware and were supposed to benotified by cleaning staff. Although beds were made , the apartment was not cleaned well esp. The floors. There was sufficient supplies and plenty of hot water. This unit needs ongoing maintenance and better oversight by managers, such as a walk thru prior to new arrivals. Though the door to master bedroom was fixed it was temporary and came off again ,my husband and son got it back on track. Best amenity view.

I was fully aware of any issues that were reported, and as Eileen was responding in a very timely manner, (she missed one call from an unknown number), she was your contact during the stay. Amazingly enough, a check out of guests 3 days prior to your arrival loved this property. The main and first issue: A pocket door came off of the track in the master bathroom, it was addressed as quickly as possible. We received no calls in regards to any housekeeping issues. We were unaware that the smoke detectors/gas detectors had been removed, so they were promptly put in the following day; as well as the gate lock repaired. Letting us know about these issues was greatly appreciated; the smoke detectors/gas detectors were there, and someone had removed them-they were less than one year old. We also greatly appreciated your husband's notes to me regarding the outdoor shower, as it really did need addressing right away since we are in a drought. In regards to some of the furniture appearing different than pictures; some was replaced with new much better furniture recently, so it is very possible that you saw the older sofa and some other furnishings; but I can guarantee that the newer sofa, and the new ceiling fan in the kitchen were a really great improvement. The smaller refrigerator pictured was also replaced with a larger one only a few weeks ago. I thank you again for the feedback, and wish you well

We just returned from our stay at this great property. WOW great house for 6 of us. Sunsets, beautiful! Eileen was a pleasure to deal with. Would stay here again. Loved being RIGHT ON THE BEACH!!!. Also loved the private beach & fire pit. We have gone through VRBO in the past and it was not a positive experience like this was. THANKS

On the Beach

We recently stayed at this lovely beachfront home with our grandchildren. It was our second year because we felt so comfortable. It is a terrific place for small children since you are directly on the beach. There was ample space for the six of us. What a gorgeous view.

Great location!

We stayed for a week with our two grown daughters, their hubbies and 3 toddlers. There was plenty of room. The kitchen is well stocked with lots of dishes, utensils and cooking equip. The location is great--just steps from the beach. We would stay again.

shared duplex not a house and dated

if you are renting this home thinking you will be the only one here , think again. I was under the impression, because I wasn't informed otherwise , that i was renting a beachfront HOME and this was also described as a home/House many times in the description. when i got there is was run down and dated, and the fact that it had been cleaned prior to my arrival was hard to tell. then i walked into the living room and sat down on the hardest couch i have ever sat on and i was shocked at how hard it was. the only saving grace was the view. i must say it was spectacular but was hard to enjoy sitting on a concrete couch. the other furniture (2 chairs) had slip covers on them that were tattered and filthy. i felt like i was in a cheap motel with awesome ocean views. anyhow i was determined to make the best of it until day 3. unbeknownst to me there is someone living in the upstairs unit. i was never informed of this EVER. she came home late stomped around (probably not intentionally but felt that way) and then the loud music started.thump thump thump. we were all in bed at this time and knew we had to do something or we would not be sleeping. my husband went upstairs to ask her to turn the music down please and she wouldn't answer the door. this type of behavior went on for the rest of the stay,(including listening to her phone calls) she wasnt even trying to be kind of quiet. i contacted Chris and it took him 2 days to get back to me saying he didn't know anything about someone living upstairs! really? How could he not know. he made excuse after excuse but never told me why we shared a home and were never told up front. instead he continues to email me positive reviews of other tenants. he accidentally sent me an email he was supposed to send to his employee and he stated that this listing doesn't show that its a shared unit and that he has been asked before about the person upstairs so i am not the first to enquire. I never rent a shared property for this reason and he had misled me from the beginning. so please people you have been warned. horrible decor horribly uncomfortable furniture but the view is awesome. keep your expectations low and you wont be disappointed. oh and also there is a door in the back bedroom that is locked always but looks like it connects to the upstairs unit, did not make me feel comfy at consider yourself warned .

This response is provided to correct the inaccurate and incorrect allegations made in her comments. 1) Beachfront home. The property is described as a beachfront home. It is not advertised as a detached house. to which all Homeaway sites, including VRBO, are linked, describes the vacation rental home as a "Beautiful home directly on the beach, Duplex style in Oceanside, California". 3 bedrooms, plenty of space for 3-8 persons... step onto the sandy beach out your back door, [etc] The exterior photo clearly shows the duplex style of the property and the two adjacent properties. The home consists of the beach and street level, while the completely separate home-unit of the duplex is on the top level. (See listing photos) 2) Interior furniture and features are as depicted in the interior photos of the rental home, as can be seen in these photos; which resembles a beach cottage design and feel. Furthermore, the property including all linens, bedding and sheets are thoroughly cleaned by professional cleaners prior to each check-in. Guest comments about the furniture and what she described as "sitting on a concrete couch" are not only incorrect but obviously distorted. 3) Locked door in bedroom: Contrary to guest conjecture that a locked door leads to the other home of the duplex, it is the door to a large closet of the bedroom in which cleaning supplies, extra linens, pillows and tools are stored. The upper level of the home of the duplex is completely separate. 4) Resident of the upper level home of the duplex: We have not received prior complaints from short term renters or neighbors about the resident of the upper level home. As an example, please refer to the comment dated June 6 2014 submitted by the guest staying immediately before guest Mary G. 5) Contact with Chris: Guest alleges "I contacted Chris S and it took "him" 2 days to get back to me, and saying that he "didn't know anything about someone living upstairs?" First, I never said such a thing and would not make such a false statement. What potential renters-guests are told is that the resident of the upper home is not the same owner of this home. Second, Mary G may have spoken to other representatives of my company. She obviously has not spoken to me directly. Since she refers to me as "him" and "he" throughout the comment when I am a woman.
