My family have been vacationing in Sauble Beach for over fifty years. My parents retired here in 1986, and my sister and two of my cousins have also bought cottages in the area. My wife and I bought our property in 1989, and built our cottage the same year.
Tom Litwiller purchased this house in 1989
We liked the lot because it is a short walk to the beach, but is very private. We like the open concept design, and high ceiling in the Great Room. Now that we are getting older we appreciate having the master bedroom on the main floor.
Our home is open and bright. We love sitting on the front deck watching the world go by or sitting on the back deck relaxing in the sun.
We booked Tom's place for a week for an end of summer getaway to split with friends. We have 2 kids, 1.5 and 4 years old. Our friends have 2 kids as well in the same age range. The location was perfect, a 10 minute walk from the beach on a quiet street, very safe for little ones. We brought a wagon and stroller, which worked well for transporting gear and kids to the beach. There is also a drop-off/parking area right at the nearest beach access, if you wanted to drive stuff down. Town (groceries, LCBO, drug store) was a 5 minute drive away, very quick. There's also ample parking in town, so it wasn't an issue to drive and just park down there to hit the main strip.
Great space, well equipped kitchen, working BBQ, big TV with tons of channels and DVD player. Wifi quality is a bit poor, so don't plan on streaming much Netflix (I imagine it's just the area). Very clean and well maintained cottage. The deck is a bit rough, but even the littles were okay on it without shoes, although we usually put them on, just in case. No AC, but the place actually stayed pretty cool at night between windows and fans, it wasn't an issue. Washing machine and dryer work well, but take Tom's word on the light colours and iron in the water. The water in general is a bit smelly, but again, I imagine it's the area. And there is a water cooler. The backyard is not fenced, but it's a good space with a great fire pit. It isn't level (big hill/mound in the middle) and backs onto the wooded area.
Dealing with Tom was a breeze from start to finish, quick to respond and friendly. This place was a great fit for us, great booking for 2 families and we'd book it again for sure.
You won't be disappointed if you book this property! It is everything the photo's show and more.Very spacious, open concept. All the amenities of home. We arrived to a very well maintained and clean home. Beds were very comfortable and stayed surprisingly cool inside given the heat outside. We enjoyed the BBQ and eating out on the back deck as well as taking advantage of the fire pit in the evenings. The Beach is a short 5 minute walk and there is a wagon in the garage that we took advantage of for hauling all of our gear to the beach.
Thank you Tom for making the booking process a breeze, we will definitely be returning next year. We wanted to start a Family tradition of bringing our grown children and grandchildren to the beach every summer for a week and truly lucked out in choosing your home. Everyone had a memorable time and are looking forward already to next year.
