Because you can sleep with the windows open in the summer and in the winter when you go to the mountain everyone skis. Our family has been coming to Lake Rescue since 1986 and we purchased our cabin in 2001. The lake is great in the summer and fall, skiing is great in the winter. Okemo and Killington are the closest but I have made day trips from Mt. Snow to Jay Peak and every mountain in between.
Swim, kayak, sail, hike, bike, and ski, something to do all year long. The level of activity can range from beginner to expert in any activity. Kayak the lake or white water down the Black River, Okemo and Killington have challenges for everyone, do a day hike or go overnight on the Appalchain Trail, Road Bike or Mountain Bike. There is always more to do than time.
This log cabin was the perfect choice for our vacation on Lake Rescue! The house is incredibly charming , very clean, and very well appointed with all your needs while you stay. We cooked at the house multiple nights and high end quality equipment was available. We also greatly appreciated the use of the kayaks and row boat for our family - it made the beautiful lake exceptionally fun for our kids! Being located on the point made for a very private experience among all the other houses surrounding the lake. We also enjoyed the activities of the surrounding area on Mt Okemo and the nearby restaurants. The ropes courses were a huge hit as well as Bellow Falls! Both are a MUST!
Our extended family (in-laws, cousins for three generations) has used the Log Cabin over several years. While only a few of us have stayed here (and other groups have used nearby housing), the amenities and the lake property have afforded all of us a chance to share family memories over evening campfires as well as day-time kayak rides. The location is perfect for allowing pre-teen and younger cousins to visit back and forth among several houses along the cul-de-sac, with little traffic to disturb the quiet time or distract from our shared visits. The location also affords a variety of outdoor activities and scenic visits for all ages. It's a real winner.
If you look up in the dictionary, "Lakeside Cabin", you'll find this place. Great location, very clean, great look and feel. On a mini peninsula with water all around you, this cabin exudes Vermont. Great swimming, fishing, kayaking, marshmallow toasting over the fire pit. The only problem we had was leaving to come home!
What a lovely location and beautiful log house! Seven women ages 66 to 74 spent the week together enjoying all the amenities provided (except for the foosball!). Waking up to the peace and quiet of the lake, drinking coffee on the front porch in the morning and wine in the evening; and just being. Fabulous! It was a delight cooking meals in the well appointed kitchen that has more gadgets than we do at home. There are enough dishes, flatware and glasses for a huge crowd and they are very attractive. Everything was sparkling clean and the garden areas were charming. This location is within driving distance of numerous interesting places to visit: Weston's Vermont Country Store, Chester's Vermont Institute of Contemporary Art, Wilson Castle, Woodstock, Quechee Gorge, the Marble Museum, Calvin Coolidge's home, and the most fascinating, Artisans Park's Path of Life sculpture garden. We can't recommend this place highly enough, and we've been vacationing together in different locations each summer for the past five years!
The location of this cabin was beautiful. You are surrounded on three sides by the lake and it is a nice flat piece of property to the water. The owners have supplied the house with everything you could need. It is very clean and very well kept. We love lake rescue and have stayed at various houses on the lake over the years. This is by far the best we have been in.
We would highly recommend visiting buttermilk falls and DJs restaurant while there.
I can't say enough good things about this place. Location is OUTSTANDING. Close to Okemo, Killington, and the surrounding mountains. We day-tripped to Manchester to do some outlet shopping as well.
The accommodations were great. My wife and 3 children were all comfortable and happy. Everything you need is extremely organized! We even skated on the lake!
We can't wait to go back next year!
Two thumbs up all the way around!
