Guestbook comments from the owner

My family and I had a really wonderful, restful time at your house. It was so clean and comfortable, and the house was set in such a peaceful surrounding. We loved the open, comonn space you had and we spent a lot of time hanging out by the fireplace in the living room together. We also enjoyed the kitchen where we could cook meals together. My dog was a little perturbed by the stuffed ducks initially - she couldn't stop growling at them - but got used to them by day 1.

I thought your website was useful (the photo gallery was especially selling) and the pot of flowers on the front porch was anice touch.

Thak you and we hope to come back again!

Totally wonderful cabin

  • 5 of 5

The porch is fantastic, very secluded with woods all around and a view of the river.. We so loved this place, we hardly left during our stay. We preferred the peace of the cabin, which was well equiped with everything we needed. Cozy beds and spacious rooms. The kitchen had everything we needed to make an early Thanksgiving dinner. We stay in a different cabin every year but we are going back next year because this one can not be beat.

Peaceful getaway

  • 5 of 5

New Log Home on New River was very nice and clean. It is very private which is what our family likes, yet within a few miles from amenities. The property is well maintained and I would recommend this property to anyone who likes their privacy. We visited Boone and Blowing Rock which is within 30 to 45 minutes away. I would like to rent this property again in the future.

Down to the River.......

  • 4 of 5

West Jefferson Cabin is very private and the deck overlooking the river is very relaxing. We saw maybe three of four other people during our entire stay. Our family of 5 (2 adults - 3 kids) stayed a full week and enjoyed our time in West Jefferson. The cabin held all five of us very comfortably. We had lots of space including the back deck. The walk down the hill to river is well maintained and easy to navigate. The cabin is somewhat loud (which is typically for a wood structure) since the floors are wood with a few throw rugs. The upstairs bedrooms are laid over the master bedroom which means that you hear all the foot traffic in the upstairs bedrooms while you are sleeping in the master bedroom. You also hear all the foot traffic on the stairs since the head wall of the master is the same wall that the stairs are attached. The kitchen is well equipped but several of the pots and especially the frying pans are showing wear and need to be replaced. The grill on the deck works very well and is in great shape. The house was not completely clean when we arrived. Lots of dog hairs remained on the floors and rugs. We had to vacuum all the cushions on the deck chairs to remove the hair.

If you enjoy river fishing, this location is great. My son and myself spent several days fishing in the south fork of the New River. We caught smallmouth, red eye, and brim out of the river stretch around the cabin. The girls enjoyed swimming and floating in the river. The town of West Jefferson is 20 minutes away along with the groceries, gas, ice, etc. Zaloo's Canoes is also 20 minutes on the other side of the ridge on the south fork. We enjoyed a relaxing tube float down the river. Historic Todd is 30 minutes out and Boone is about 40 minutes.
