Our family of 4 loves to come up from Charlotte, NC for quick getaways to the Blue Ridge Mountains. We enjoy spending the entire day outside hiking, fishing, and also 'tipping around' the village of Blowing Rock. We always look forward to dinner time as dining options are endless. We've been exploring Blowing Rock / Boone for roughly 8 years now and still find trails, restaurants, and unique shops that we've overlooked previously.
Mark Eckhart purchased this cottage in 2007
We chose to buy our cottage in Yonahlossee for a couple of reasons. First we found ourselves traveling up to Blowing Rock so frequently that buying just made financial sense and eliminated the hassle of pricey, overbooked hotel rooms. Second, we were not interested in buying 'just another cabin in the woods'. We chose Yonahlossee Resort and Club because of the beautiful protected setting located so close to the village of Blowing Rock. With our management staff, we make one call and are assured that upon our arrival, we have fresh linens, the lights are turned on, and our property has been inspected one last time to make sure it conforms to the high standards of the resort. No worries or surprises.
Location, Location, Location. Quiet, peaceful nights, and everything the Blowing Rock area has to offer in the daytime. We often leave the sliding glass doors open at night in the spring, summer, and fall to enjoy the cool breezes and nature's melodies.
My husband and I had a wonderful weekend staying in this cabin!! It was Sept but the fireplace was nice and the cabin was the perfect size and the furnishings were beautiful!! I enjoyed a long soak in the jacuzzi tub! Great location just mins from downtown Blowing Rock and hiking. Owner was great at suggesting restaurants and hiking trails. The Gamekeeper restaurant (basically right across the street) was delicious and the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary! Would highly recommend the cabin and the restaurant!!
We stayed for a long weekend in July and LOVED this place. It is clean, comfortable and quiet. The unit itself is very cozy, just perfect for a romantic getaway. The king bed is very comfortable, the bathroom is very roomy (two sinks) and the shower/water pressure is great, there's a functional kitchen area with a sink and small refrigerator for keeping your snacks and drinks cold. The location is perfect for exploring the Blowing Rock, Boone, Grandfather Mountainarea. Minutes to each of those areas and of course all the beautiful scenery and hiking trails. Great restaurants nearby (Gamekeeper across the street). Great amenities on site such as an indoor pool, indoor and outdoor tennis courts and just beautiful scenery. After staying there we loved it so much we wanted to come back the following weekend but it was already booked but we'll definitely come here again. The owner, Mark, was also great to work with and he spent a lot of time via both emails and phone calls answering all my questions and giving us great recommendations for things to do in the area. I've rented a lot of VRBO places around the country and this is one of the best!
My boyfriend and I stayed in this cottage for 6 days and 5 nights and didn't want to leave! And we were even able to bring our dog!
The cottage is adorable (much larger than we expected), bed is comfortable, and there is even a tree that the back porch is built around which we thought was neat. The fireplace was amazing on the cooler days and nights during our stay. With the curtains drawn, the cottage stays very dark in the early morning and this was perfect for sleeping in which was exactly what we were looking for on this relaxing trip.
There are lots of hiking trails within a short drive from the cottage and downtown Boone is less than 5-6 miles. We ate at the Gamekeeper which was an amazingly delicious meal and located very close to the cottage.
Working with the owner was easy and he answered all of our questions and emails immediately. We would come back again.
Spent three nights at Paradise to celebrate Valentine's Day and my birthday. We enjoyed it so much, that we convinced my family to drive up and stay in the neighboring unit for a night. The drive through Moses Cone was gorgeous and we spotted several deer. Yonahlossee staff was extremely helpful in suggesting restaurants and attractions. We came to go skiing and were lucky to have snow two days, but ended up enjoying sitting by the fire in the cabin, so never made it to the slopes! Blowing Rock was a quick drive, so we explored the town and boutiques and made several trips to the candy shop :-). Knights was a hearty breakfast and Gamekeeper had great ambience.
We are looking forward to our next trip and definitely plan to stay in Mark's cabin. This definitely beats staying in a hotel; more privacy and so much more cozy. Bathroom was spacious, bed extremely comfortable and everything you would need in the kitchen (if you don't need a stove). We would like to come back in the summer for hiking and take advantage of the resort's ammenities.
It was a perfect celebration weekend and can't wait to return!!
My husband and I stayed at your place over the Thanksgiving holidays. It was so wonderful! Everything was SO clean, convenient and so very comfortable. The decor was perfect for a mountain lodge. Love, love the teal sofa! and the bathroom was spacious and so beautiful. We really felt at home and cozy. I especially loved the balcony and wooded views. I walk with a cane, and so it was especially nice to have no stairs to deal with. In fact, we parked right out front--10 steps away from the door!
We explored surrounding areas like Blowing Rock, Boone, Banner Elk and other places within driving distance.. it was convenient to everything. We had great fun but one of the best parts was returning to your place at night. I asked my husband for his review and he said: "I don't think he can improve on anything. It was great." so, thank you for sharing your place and for being s helpful, providing area information, and making everything so easy . we look forward to returning soon!
My daughter and I stayed in the studio unit. Very well-kept. Cozy, pretty setting without being isolated or hard to access. Nice to have continental breakfast included in rate. Also appreciated being able to bring my golden retriever. Make sure you read the write-up carefully and understand there is no kitchen per se. There's a small microwave, small fridge and sink but no stovetop or oven. Making stew for my sick college student was not possible but we had good meals out.
If you want an excellent alternative to a hotel room, this is a very good option both for value, convenience and living area. Though we didn't take advantage of club facilities, that's a nice bonus to have included in the rental price. Inn staff very nice/helpful especially Julie and Heather.
