We had the most amazing vacation at your home. It's absolutely gorgeous and well maintained. And of course, Anna and Freddie were fabulous. We saw whales and a whole family of howler monkeys while relaxing at the pool one day. It truly was a vacation we'll never forget.

Many thanks,best.

5 all I keep saying!!!

The house and view is even more beautiful then the pictures. My husband & I, our friends stayed at Casa de La Loma August 2017. We feel in love with the house as soon as we arrived. We were greeted by Ana & Freddy who I must say became part of our family. They made the stay even better than you can imagine. Ana's cooking is remarkable. We have all already decided we will definitely be back. Thank you Wendy for opening your gorgeous home and allowing us to stay. You are very lucky to have Ana & Freddy. Not only do they take excellent care of your home but also the most excellent care of your guest. We look forward to staying again in Casa de la Loma. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

We Love Casa de la Loma (PART I)

  • 5 of 5

We were two families of four that booked the majority of our Costa Rica vacation at Casa de la Loma, and took advantage of the sights and relaxation of Samara and Puerto Carrillo. During the planning stages leading up to our trip, the owner, Wendy, of Casa de la Loma, responded effectively and efficiently to our questions and concerns. Wendy’s responsiveness of communication through phone, e-mail, and text made us feel comfortable. Wendy’s thorough directions, rules, and guidelines afforded us the time to plan and anticipate what to pack and require in Costa Rica. The traveling between southern California and Casa de la Loma took almost 24 hours – via airplane, shuttle-van ride from San Jose Airport, car rental pick-ups, and a slight time zone change – though rigorous on our bodies and sleep patterns, we were rewarded with one of the most spectacular views provided by, and upon entering Casa de la Loma. The property managers’, Senora Ana and Senor Freddy’s, hospitality erased the effects of our 24-hour trek, and renewed our spirits to celebrate our welcome by a dip in the infinity pool, libations in-hand, and the aroma of roasted chicken readying for dinner. The meals and entrees prepared by Senora Ana were the most delicious. The healthy, Costa Rican-style dishes accompanied black beans and rice, and either roasted/grilled chicken and fish. Senora Ana, at our request, prepared delicious desserts – ask and act kindly, and you will receive. Both Wendy and Senora Ana, helped plan meals, accordingly, as they were notified and aware of the serious food allergies that one of our children has. At breakfast, we woke up to eggs and bacon, toast, fresh fruit, and freshly brewed Costa Rican coffee. Our dinner (and some lunch) meals consisted of poultry, breaded red snapper, grilled and seared yellowtail, sesame seed-coated yellowtail, grilled shrimp and vegetables, salads, and fresh fruit.

We Love Casa de la Loma (PART II)

  • 5 of 5

Senora Ana coordinated a fishing trip for the dads and kids. We met Francisco Fishing Tours, about less than a mile from Casa de la Loma, and boarded a 25-foot “panga” operated by two very-experienced Costa Rican fisherman. On this half-day trip, we ended up catching a significant share of yellowtail- and black (bonito)-tuna, and dorado (mahi-mahi). We brought back yellowtail to the Casa for Senora Ana to grill and roast, enough for our families for the next three days, and even for Senora Ana’s family. This fishing trip was one of the most memorable experiences, and we recommend Francisco Fishing Tours and Senora Ana’s coordination efforts. There were a couple days where we drove into the Playa Samara and Puerto Carrillo areas for lunch, sightseeing, and grocery shopping. Having a vehicle, equipped with manual transmission, 4x4, and maneuverable made driving around these Costa Rican towns easy; and most especially driving up the unpaved slope leading into Casa de la Loma. Coming back from our day trips, Senora Ana treated us with snacks, cut-fruits, bebidas, and cold bottles of Pilsen beer. From sitting on patio deck enjoying the vast ocean view, the resident family of howler monkeys make way with their intimidating sounds perched on a nearby tree. Make sure you pack a set of binoculars to get a closer look of these howler monkeys. Having a vast ocean view overlooking from the Casa, especially in the evening hours, provided us with spectacular lightning shows, accompanied with the thunderous clapping sounds. The evening outdoor entertainment also had fireflies illuminating erratically and flickering in the jungle landscape as the noisy clamoring and various tones of the cicadas and other Costa Rican insects communicate with each other. The hospitality and service provided by Senora Ana and Senor Freddy were of a respectable Costa Rican family, and they treated us like we are part of their family. Casa de la Loma was perfect for our two families, where each family took a “wing” of the Casa – clean and open bedrooms for us parents and other bedrooms for the children, while each family-specific set of bedrooms were equipped with expansive bathrooms. The meals, service, and maintenance were beyond our expectations. We highly recommend Casa de la Loma for your family vacation needs especially from Wendy’s planning and open communication, and Senora Ana & Senor Freddy's hospitality and services. Muchas Gracias for sharing your home...PURA VIDA!!!!

Best vacation by far... the house is so beautiful, beyond what the pictures show. Ana and Freddy are amazing, so helpful and friendly... we can't say enough about Ana's cooking... delicious home made meals everyday. She was so accomadating to our family, we asked her to make a cheese cake for us... she had only made it one time before, and it was perfection!! So yummy!!

Costa Rica is a beautiful country, so much to see and explore, we saw humpback whales everyday from the terrace, and the sunsets, wow!!... we will be back!!

Don't bother looking for another place BOOK HERE!

WOW, where to begin. My wife is an identical twin and we shared this wonderful home for just over a week between two families. So being that we each live on different coasts in the US we landed at different airports. Closer airport being Liberia. With that said two things to remember. First, get a SUV for the stay because of the roads in Costa Rica. Secondly, download WAZE before you arrive. It is the best application to get you to where you need to go. I used the hotel as a reference and it got to the house without issues. The home is a little ways off the main road don't worry you will find it. The drive is not that bad from either airport and well worth the drive.

First impression when walking in was that the home is AMAZING. Ana had food going for us. We called to tell her that we met at the beach in Samara for drinks so we all arrived together as a group. Thank you Wendy for the suggestion of Locanda for the drinks. The home is situated on top of the hill so there was always a nice breeze. We only had the air on at night in the bedrooms. Very easy to slip into the Pura Vida lifestyle once you arrive. We had Ana get us beer and food to last until we could go food shopping in town on Monday. More on that later. There is everything that you will need while you are there. Plenty of space and entertainment area to relax in. Serene mornings with Howler monkeys just below the deck area to look at in the mornings. Food: We took advantage of having ANA there to make food for our group. She will discuss a menu and items to purchase for the meals. Shopping is a bit of an adventure. There are several stores that you need to go to in order to get the items. We used Ana to get the butcher and seafood delivered to the home so that was one less stop we had to make. Be sure to clarify exactly what and how much is needed for the dish. I shorted some ingredients and over bought things like dry beans. Not an issue until you need to drive back to town to buy something you forgot.

Area: We went horseback riding one day. It is wonderful to go from the hills to the beach on the ride. Zip lining is right in town and phenomenal! Spoiler alert - you get to repel down twice on the tour. Spoke to a local who told us about the falls on an elderly gentleman's property that are the largest in Central America. Ask Ana to have someone from the zipline place to take you there. Well worth the money to have him take you. Doubt I could find it again if I tried.

Just book it!
