Just take your pick...golfing, swimming, boating, jet-skiing, fishing, hiking, biking, downhill skiing, snowboarding, x-country skiing or snowshoeing, or even hot air ballooning!

The Unique Benefits at this House: Not every home in our area has the level of luxury or the unobstructed views that we offer. From the dining room, living room, master bedroom, and family room, you will never tire of looking at majestic mountains that are simply awesome or the vast beauty of unbelievable blue skies.

About Owner

Alar and Kathleen, Eden, UT

Back in March of 2004 after a business trip to Salt Lake City, Alar discovered what they say about Utah is true. On a 60 degree day, he strapped on some skis and ventured out to ski what the locals deemed 'lousy' conditions. Alar had never skied out west before, and he found conditions to be quite the opposite. Utah does, indeed, have the GREATEST snow on Earth!

For the next several years, we brought our family out for a mid-February vacation. Alar and our two teenage sons would pick a different mountain resort each morning and head out to meet the challenges of the double black diamonds, while Kathleen would put on her snowshoes and enjoy the serenity of the x-country trails in the canyons.

When we found the breath-taking beauty of the valley of Eden, we knew we'd discovered paradise. Powder Mountain and its most skiable acres in the US was just 6 miles away and the luxury of Snowbasin Resort was a mere 8 miles in the opposite direction. We purchase our lovely home in the spring of 2008 and settled right in!

What we've learned over the past year is how much we love this spot in every season of the year. We enjoyed skiing, boarding, and snowshoeing in the winter over Christmas; spring skiing in March; swimming in Pineview Reservoir after a long, hot hike in the summer; and just looking at the mountains from our living room and enjoying the brilliant autumn foliage.

Each time we head back to the east coast, we find ourselves wishing we could stay in this beautiful retreat all the time...and maybe some day, we will! In the meanwhile, it is our greatest wish for you to spend time here and enjoy it for us.

A Great Ski Destination

  • 5 of 5

This ski vacation was exceptional, in no small part due to our fine accommodations in Eden. The home in Trappers Ridge was roomy, modern, and exactly as pictured. The owner was responsive to our communications and the directions getting in the house on arrival made for quick entry. We loved the convenience of the hot tub and the simplicity of using it - some are so much trouble to remove the cover that they are hardly worth it, but the tub at the club house was simple.

Nearby amenities are limited to a couple of restaurants in Eden and a small grocery store about 5 minutes from the house. We stocked up on groceries in Salt Lake before arriving, and this worked well. Access to skiing required about a 15-20 minute drive to Snowbasin and 10 minutes to Powder Mountain.

In summary, this home is an outstanding value with access to some of the best and least crowded skiing in Utah. I would love to return sometime in the summer - I bet the valley is beautiful then as well.

Owner's Response: Thank you Brian and Shelley! It sounds like you fell in love with everything we did about the house and Valley. The layout of the house, its views, and its close proximity to the Clubhouse amenities totally sold us. And you are right, the Valley and resorts are more remote and less crowded than so many other areas. That tranquility is amazing! I hope you were able to hit a few of our favorite Valley restaurants...Carlos and Harleys for Mexican, the North Fork Tavern, and the Oaks. It's also fun to sometimes take the 1/2 hour drive to Ogden's historic 25th St. to enjoy its many restaurants and activities. You are also right about imagining how beautiful the Valley is in other seasons. We try to get out there a couple of times each summer for hiking, and the fall beauty is unmatched. I look forward to having you back!

A wonderful retreat from the modern rush!

  • 5 of 5

Wow, our group was so blessed by the home! It was warm and inviting and had stunning views. Our group of ten had more than enough room and we loved having movie night in the upstairs den with the surround sound blasting! At times we felt like we were in a wildlife sanctuary, with the deer and rabbits feeding and relaxing just feet from the bay window. We had plenty of towels and all the amenities of the home and club house were great! Powder Mountain was a ten minute drive away so the pace in the morning was chill and relaxed. It truly felt like heaven on earth, sitting in front of the fireplace with a cup of coffee and watching the sun rise paint the peaks. The owner is extremely kind and prompt in her response time to any questions we had. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much, David. I am always so glad to hear when others appreciate and enjoy the serenity of our home. You are right, it is like being in a wildlife sanctuary. In addition to the deer and rabbits, we've seen turkeys with their chicks, moose, elk, fox, and an abundance of birdlife...all creatures great and small! I'm also glad to hear the house met all your expectations and that I was able to answer your questions in a timely manner. I do hope you will return...maybe next time you can visit the Valley in the summer. The high dessert climate of warm days and cool nights might be a nice escape from the summer humidity of Charleston!

Wonderful family home

  • 5 of 5

This was our second opportunity to enjoy this home with our family for a ski vacation. We love it because we have so much living space with an upstairs family room, the kids and adults can be comfortable. We watched original Star Wars on the surround sound tv. The gas fireplace is lovely and the kitchen well appointed. All the beds were very comfortable and the skiers and snowboarders among us loved Powder Mountain with no lift lines and fresh powder during the busy Christmas season. The Village market provides everything you need at reasonable prices with tender meat and delicious bakery items. The hot tub, workout equipment, and ping pong table at the clubhouse enhanced our stay. The manager helped us by having food for our Christmas dinner delivered as well as a crib and high chair. We would certainly recommend this home for a family and hope to enjoy the space again--maybe in the summer next time for hiking, biking, and the lake.

Owner's Response: I'm so glad you and your family returned to our home to create more memories, and I am very happy to hear you enjoyed the new, comfy mattresses. I really enjoyed being able to meet you in person in Naples, FL...a small world, indeed, that you winter where my husband and I now live! Someday we'll live the dream of even more time in UT!

Perfect House for Our Family

  • 5 of 5

Our extended family of 10, 3 generations aging from 1 to 62 enjoyed this lovely house for 5 nights in July. The house itself is spacious, well designed and quiet. We especially enjoyed the upstairs game room with the foosball and game table. The house is very close to the swimming pool, but not so close as to be at all noisy. We used the grill and the back patio for cooking and dining. The property is spotless and the crib and high chair that were provided for my granddaughter appeared to be brand new. The property manager was very responsive when I asked for additional trash bags and dishwasher detergent.

We enjoyed the gravel paths through the neighborhood and the lovely views out across the Eden valley. We also went to the reservoir beach, fishing and hiking. The one day it rained a bit we had great fun at the Ogden Children's Museum.

This is a beautiful well maintained home in a perfect location to enjoy all that the Eden valley has to offer. I would recommend it to anyone looking for an elegant yet comfortable home in any season.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your thoughts about your stay in my home. I am always so glad to know others enjoy it as much as we do! The Eden Valley does, indeed, offer something for all ages and abilities...from hiking, biking, and water sports in the summer to skiing at Powder, Snowbasin, or the small and lovely family mountain at Nordic Valley. The house is ideally located near the pool, tennis, pickleball, and basketball courts, and I, too, enjoy the hiking trails in both summer and winter. I'm glad to hear the highchair and crib that we supply free of charge met your needs. I know what it's like to travel with small children...so much stuff!! We're happy to do anything we can do to lighten that load! Thanks again for choosing our home. We hope to see you again!
