About Steve Bishop

The owners are Gail & Steve Bishop. We have lived in Beaufort for 17 years. We operate a sailing charter business called Lookout Cruises located on the Beaufort docks. We have 3 daily sailing excursions to choose from, AM Dolphin Watch, Cape Lookout Cruise and Sunset Cruise. Please join us for a wonderful vacation memory while you are here.

Steve Bishop purchased this apartment in 2005

Why Steve Bishop chose Coastal North Carolina

We had a long term renter in the carriage house who eventually purchased a home in Beaufort. We decided to completely remodel the historic structure so that we could have additional space for our children when they visit and rent the remaining weeks to couples in the hopes they will enjoy all that Beaufort has to offer.

What makes this apartment unique

We tell our friends who visit that once you arrive in Beaufort and park your car, you will not need it for a week. There are 16 fantastic restaurants within 2 blocks and lots of locally owned shops within a few minutes walk. The NC Maritime Museum with Blackbeard's Queen Anne's Revenge exhibit is around the corner. Other attractions include the Beaufort Historic Grounds, The Old Burying Grounds, historic homes tours and plenty of water activities.

Exceptional Experience

  • 5 of 5

From my first inquiry online to our hands-off stay at this property, everything was spot-on. Steve and his team were very responsive while booking and the check-in/check-out logistics were simple. The location and the property itself were perfect. Everything was clean and in working order. My husband and I can't wait to go back.

absolutely perfect weekend getaway!

  • 5 of 5

I have loved Beaufort ever since my first visit 7 years ago and now it is even more enjoyable since I found this place to stay last year. I usually stay at the Inlet inn on front street which is great but I wanted something more private and a little less noisey since this small town has grown in popularity. We decided to stay in the carrige house which was absolute charming and perfect for just 2 people. It was immculate and had a very well stocked kitchen with a very cute screened in porch which was perfect to hang out on and have a glass of wine before walking to one of the many great restaurants near by for dinner. All the restaurants are great but I highly recommend the Salt box because its low key and everything is made from scratch, even the ketchup! The owners are very nice and even let us borrow their bikes to to explore. We have already booked our second stay and can't wait to go back!

Almost Heaven

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I returned to Beaufort for the first time in 15 years and this was the perfect place to be. The accommodations could not have been better. We stayed in the time share in the main home. The layout, furnishings, location, and owner could not have been any better. Looking forward to our next stay.

Wonderful getaway!!

  • 5 of 5

we stayed in the apartment above the main house for three days. The location of the property is just wonderful. Just one block from the charming little town of Beaufort. The apartment had everything we needed. The porch was so enjoyable. A great spot to sit and enjoy the breeze. We also went on the sunset cruise with Steve on lookout. The catamaran was just great. A must if you enjoy the water. Steve and his wife Gail were a pleasure. The gardens are just beautiful around the property. We would highly recommend any of their properties. The cochran's

Beautiful property, even better hospitality!

  • 5 of 5

From the booking of our trip, to the flexibility of the owners, the beauty of the property, and the sweet hospitality during our stay, we could not have asked for a better anniversary place! The owners spent time talking with us face to face about things to do around Beaufort, and we really enjoyed just getting to know them a little. They definitely do everything they can to make you feel at home, feel welcomed, and that they're available if you need anything. We parked the car when we arrived and did not drive it again until we left to come home- everything is within walking distance, and if you venture further than you'd like to walk, the bike rides are a blast! We will definitely be back for more anniversary celebrations, as well as some trips with the kids as well! We are very thankful to have found this place, AND THESE PEOPLE, because, really, their kindness and hospitality made the trip even better!
