We were immediately drawn to Alegranza which has the best location, views, and building quality we've seen in the area.
Our 2nd floor, 3 bedroom-3 bath unit is completely top of the line. Features include:

* Disappearing pocket doors to the terrace (opening up the living room to the outdoors)

We have been home from our stay for several weeks now and we keep reflecting back on what a wonderful time we had while staying at Darlene's condo. We stayed at an all-inclusive hotel in San Jose del Cabo for the first week and then moved on to the condo for our second week, which we definitely enjoyed more. The condo is just as shown in the photos and the location and views from the condo were fantastic. The condo is located up on a hill right in the middle of everything. Just a short walk to the downtown town square or the Plaza del Pescador. We took turns walking to both areas to try all the fantastic restaurants. We had so many amazing meals and our favorite was Habaneros just down the hill. The hill up to the condo was pretty intimidating but I must say the exercise was wonderful and it's the first time we came home from vacation having lost a couple of pounds. San Jose del Cabo is now our favorite Mexico vacation spot and can't wait to return. Thanks Darlene for everything!
This large condo is well stocked and beautifully furnished with quality bedding and towels. Great water pressure and cold A/C. Washer and dryer. TVs in each of the three bedrooms. Lots of room if you have a large group. Gorgeous, gorgeous views from the veranda!
Darlene and her local management crew were fantastic. Easy to book and great communication before arriving.
Great location for walking downtown, restaurants, beach access or hanging at the private pool. The Mega (grocery store) is close. There's a Wal-Mart close by too. My toddler walked with me to a burger king to play in their GIANT play area. There is an outdoor playground but unless you go before sunrise it's way too hot!
Upon arrival the water was not on so it took a few minutes to figure that out. There is a constantly running toilet in one of the bedrooms that we just kept off. It trickled but was enough to fill the tank in between uses. Didn't bother us much though.
5 adults and one toddler shared this house. We cooked all our meals except for one dinner. I LOVE baking and baked lots. I bought new baking dishes since the ones there were very rusty. Also donated some more ice trays because it was HOT for us Alaskans :)
There are plenty of beach towels, boogie boards, umbrellas and a cooler for your beach outings, about 15 minute walk. My toddler loved the foam noodle and used it in the private pool. She also watched curious George a half dozen times. (Small collection of movies there.) Oh, we bought a bucket and shove land left it there for the future kiddos.
We came for the ironman triathlon. The finish was about a mile from the condo so it was easy to watch the run and see the finish without needing to drive around.
There's a gym with treadmills, bikes, ellipticals, weights, yoga mats, physio balls. There are showers, a sauna and toilets in there too. There's a tennis court. Only one raquet in the condo and a few tennis balls.
My Dad, sister, and I spent a week in Darlene's condo in July and it was hard to leave when our stay was up. The pictures do not do this place justice. We spent a lot of time on the very spacious balcony relaxing, grilling, eating, and just sitting while talking and enjoying the scenery. Make sure when out on the balcony to open up the glass wall and enjoy the great breeze, it was awesome! I would recommend this place to anyone, you wouldn't be disappointed at all.
Our month in San Jose was a great vacation, and the Alegranza complex has everything we need and enjoy for a winter getaway. Darlene is a wonderful host and is extremely efficient as a landlord and very responsive to requests and information. We were very impressed with the décor and furnishings. The views and amenities were as good as we have encountered as experienced Condo renters. Be prepared for some top notch exercise when dealing with the hillsides as those views come at a cost, when walking to and from the beach, downtown or grocery stores! In summary, we would rent from Darlene and stay at Alegranza again in a heartbeat and recommend it to all.
This is an excellent condo with a superb view of the Sea of Cortez at a very fair price. It felt luxurious, was within easy walking distance to the restaurant and art gallery district, and was a reasonable walk or inexpensive cab ride to the beach. The owner was a pleasure to deal with, and we will return to this unit without a doubt.
We enjoyed everything about the condo, we had no hassles at any time, including the time one always fears -- time for the damage deposit to be returned, which it was, in full. I am tempted to write a negative review, only because I would like to insure that it is available when I want to go back, and I would hate to see the owner raise the price.
We previously owned a condo in the neighborhood of Alegranza, and therefore I know whereof I speak when I say that this condo captures the very best of the neighborhood at a price that anyone would regard as a good value. Truly, I cannot imagine anyone being anything but pleased with every aspect of choosing this unit at Alegranza as a vacation rental.

The cost for 7 days is $1050 with a $300 refundable security deposit. The price for 2 weeks is $1800 with a $500 refundable security deposit. The cost for 3 weeks is $2500 with the $500 refundable deposit, and one month is $3,000 including utilities, plus a $500 refundable security deposit. The security deposit is refundable as long as the condo is left in the same condition as it is found.
* Approximate monthly rate. Actual rate will depend on the days of the month you stay.
