Once you rent our cozy cottage in Rainbow Bay on the island of Eleuthera, Bahamas you'll want to return to this island of natural beauty and warm, friendly people. Tranquil Seas is a comfy smoke-free cottage (smoking allowed outside) with Indonesian decor and bamboo matting on alternate walls/ceilings, tiled counter tops, Bali wood doors and bamboo trim. A full separate laundry room is an added bonus that you don't find in many vacation homes on the island. We have completed lots of upgrades to the cottage that we know you will appreciate.
There is a master bedroom with full bath and walk-in closet at each end of the house providing privacy if you wish to share the cost with friends, as well as an outside shower. Each bedroom has flat screen tv with dvd player. Flat screen in living room with dvd player and satellite programming, DVD player in one master and DVD player built into tv in other master. It is perfect for families, couples who want to share the cottage and the cost, or as a romantic getaway, Eleuthera is a wonderful place for couples because intimacy is easily obtained; no crowds, no jet skiis, no speed boats or people trying to sell you things on the beach. It's the perfect place to do as little or as much as you wish.
It is one of very few properties on the entire island with incredible panoramic views of both the Atlantic and the Caribbean side so you can sit on the front porch with your morning coffee and watch the sun rise and sit on the back porch in the evening with a frosty cold island drink and watch the sun set. Leave the sliding doors open in the bedrooms at night to catch the soft breeze, the sound of the surf, and see the cruise ships lit up in all of their glory cruising the Atlantic out front. Wake up to views of the sea without lifting your head off of the pillow. Gorgeous wide open water views from every room, you can see both seas at once from some rooms in the house.
Large front porch runs full length of house, use rockers or deck chairs to relax and enjoy the view of the mostly dramatic Atlantic. Also have hammock chairs and hammocks which can be used. Back porch has deck chairs and a view of the calm turquoise which words can't describe.
Because of the close proximity of the ocean, cross breezes keep the cottage cool plus there are ceiling fans in each room and air conditioning for warm days/nights. Short walks will take you to 4 beautiful picture-postcard secluded beaches, each with it's own unique beauty. Two sea kayaks are included for unlimited use during your stay at no extra cost which is a big bonus since the kayak rental fee on the island is pricey.
The cottage is centrally located to enable you to explore north to south more easily. We provide everything that you need to take a picnic lunch or you can eat at one of the many restaurants up and down the island. There are quaint little shops to browse in and even a cinema showing the lastest films. You can rent a surfboard in Gregorytown and you will see a very good variety of sea life while snorkeling. The area immediately south of Current cut is one of the best places for snorkeling/diving ever. It is not unusual to see stingrays, squid, spiney lobster, many parrot fish, angelfish as well as lionfish, turtles and dolphins. Eleuthera has the best beaches in the Bahamas and you may not see another person while enjoying the sand, surf and sun since Eleuthera has an abundance of them.
Car rental is about $420 per week and we can give advice on booking flights (the closest airport is Governor's Harbour). You can fly direct from Ft. Lauderdale with Silver airlines or from Miami with American Eagle.
Check out lots more photos of the cottage, beaches and the island - ask us for our link to the website. We know that you'll love this island and our home as much as we do! It's the place to escape from it all to restore your spirit and soothe your soul.
Visit the fish fry in Governor's Harbour on friday nights for good food, drink, and dancing in the street. Fun for all, meet lots of people from the world over. Make memories that will last a life time! We make it a quick, easy transition into island mode for you by providing many amenities. Questions welcome, we love to talk about Eleuthera!
We are a couple in our early 60's who live in the Northeast USA and who discovered Eleuthera and can't get enough of it. We want others to share in the warmth of the people and the natural beauty of the island. We discovered the natural beauty of Eleuthera and its people and fell in love with a piece of paradise. Nothing better than sitting in the front porch rockers reading while watching and listening to the waves roll in and to see the gorgeous streaks of turquoise in the deep blue water. The view from the back porch is of the much calmer brilliant turquoise water, so very different from the front.
David & Carlene Pearsall purchased this cottage in 2004
We love this property because of the incredible views of the two totally different seas and it's proximity to the most beautiful beaches we have ever seen. It is a great place to unwind and slow down the pace from the hectic life styles that most working people endure in every day life. Sit back, relax and let the ocean views and sound of the waves calm you.
Two sea kayaks provided for unlimited use. Fully stocked kitchen with many small appliances, full set of dishes, pots and pans, and a full service laundry room. Satellite tv (about 150 channels), Sirius satellite radio, WI-FI internet, centrally located which makes it convenient for exploring up and down the island. Snorkel gear, beach chairs, beach towels, beach umbrella, or use tennis rackets and play tennis at nearby tennis court.
Sorry that it has taken me so long to get back to you but it has been difficult (and busy) getting back into the real world after our stay on Eleuthera. We had the best time ever! We had days where we did nothing but sit on a gorgeous beach, read and play in the WARM water. Can't believe how warm the water was, no shock factor when going in! Then we had other days where we explored and discovered such natural beauty of how the ocean meets the island, such as the Queen's baths. Thank you for all that you did to help us be better able to enjoy our stay, all of the information that you sent us before our stay was extremely helpful. We will be back!
As you can see, we went during the off-season. We love the tranquility. Beautiful beaches and few tourists. Fewer restaurants were open, but enough. The caretaker and her husband are very nice people and informative. Nice views! We like this island more than Grand Bahama or Nassau area because the people are friendlier.
How to define our stay if not simply wonderful?
I, my wife and our 10 year old son, we stayed 12 days in August 2016.
The cottage is perfectly located, not so far from North Eleuthera and the island's main town (Governor's Harbour).
In the house there is really everything needed for cooking, beach, relaxing.
The elevated position of the house, with views of both the ocean and on the caribbean sea is priceless.
In addition, the Rainbow Beach, 5 minutes walk from the cottage, it is among the best for snorkeling.
The lady who does the cleaning and who lives in a neighboring house, is very useful in case of any special need you should have.
We absolutely suggest this cottage for the perfect holiday.
My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tranquil Seas. This cottage is outfitted with just about everything you could think of, from the beds and linens and the cutlery and cooking utensils to the beach gear and kayaks.
The high speed internet and WiFi were great and there were the flat screen tv’s with satellite when we wanted to veg out after a long day of combing the white sandy beaches and snorkeling in the turquoise waters.
Rainbow Bay is a beautiful place and this cottage is truly a gem.
The owner was very helpful answering all of our questions prior to booking and when we arrived, everything was as advertised.
We explored a lot of the island- including the hard to reach Surfer’s Beach and the “Kiddie Pool”, Governor’s Harbour and Ocean Hole.
If you like peace and quiet, secluded beaches and listening to the waves crash I highly recommend staying in Rainbow Bay at Tranquil Seas.
We can't thank the owner enough for making our first Eleuthera visit (and certainly not the last) the best vacation ever!! She paid strict attention to detail and gave us all of the info that we needed for us to immediately go to flip flop mode until the very last second of our visit. The house had everything that we needed and more. We totally appreciated the two master suites as we were two couples so we each had our own "space" at the end of the day. The fully stocked kitchen (better than our own at home) gave us the perfect opportunity to cook in rather than eat out more which saved us funds for our next visit. Loved the kayaks, beach toys and everything in the house was well maintained and comfortable. We will be back!!
Peaceful seclusion in the Caribbean was the general goal of the vacation for my girlfriend and I. She picked the cottage and we had a wonderful time. Seeing both Atlantic and Caribbean from the house was a treat. Snorkeling and swimming in nearby Rainbow Bay will not soon be forgotten. The house was pleasant and commodious and in a good location providing flexibility to drive to points north or south for adventure. We appreciated having a couple of good restaurants not too far away. Having the housekeeper (from whom we rented a car) across the street was handy. It seems the house is in a (dare I say) "subdivision" which is slowly developing - but the pace of development is slow enough that the house should remain a treasure and simple pleasure for many years to come.
So we went back a SECOND time to make more. There is something about this little place that just put you at ease. Is it the location , sitting on the front porch in the morning in a rocking chair having coffe and watching the waves. Or the two minute drive to Rainbow bay. We have been from one end of the island to the other. Still haven't seen a Stop light. I could go on about all the beautiful beaches and the endless pictures that we have taken. But the people here are what makes the island. The world would be a much better place if we could learn how Bohemians treat one another. The wife and I have been to the Hawaiian Islands several times and nothing compares to spending some time in Eleuthera.
Love this place, Love this island. And most certainly love the people!
Regards, the Owens family
Being almost centrally located on the island is a big bonus, making it easy to explore from north to south. Wide open ocean views, two completely different looking seas, are the best feature of this cozy home. Sit on the front porch with your morning coffee and on the back porch with a cold cocktail or brew and enjoy the surf of the Atlantic side or the calm turquoise waters of the Caribbean side, so different in their beauty; second street back from the water of each shore.
See the ocean without having to lift your head off of the pillow. Porch rockers, deck chairs/tables, hammocks and hammock chairs make it a relaxing stay. Do as little or as much as you want. The island, with it's natural beauty and friendly people, is a great place to explore. Every beach is different from the last, every turn in the road brings new unforgettable vistas and fun in the sun.
Take out the sea kayaks to explore the water and have even more adventure by exploring by auto on land. An auto is a must to get around. Snorkeling on Eleuthera is so much better than you may have experienced elsewhere because there haven't been mass crowds to spoil or damage the reefs like in places teeming with tourists.
The cottage will fit all of your needs, from a laundry room to a kitchen stocked with every large and small appliance that you will need.
Two master suites serve well for comfort and convenience. Each bedroom has flat screen tv with dvd player. We believe in making your stay as easy as possible. We also provide beach chairs, beach towels, beach umbrella, snorkel gear (vests, snorkels, masks and fins), floats, koozies, coolers, ice blocks, and a picnic pack. Just bring your clothes and personal items!
The cottage has satellite tv with sirius/XM radio, WIFI internet, cell and land phones for your use, great movie selection, books for adults and children, games, playing cards, puzzle books and jigsaw puzzles, plus other amenities that you don't find in other vacation homes.
We will provide you with a lot of information about the cottage, the island, other islands you may want to visit, where to get groceries, sites to see, things to do, auto rental suggestions, etc.
You'll find sand, sun and fun at our island home on Eleuthera!
