Location is the reason to stay here

I'll start with a few critiques, which may or may not be important for some travelers. The apartment is dark; even with all lights on I could not read a book without additional light. Cleaning could be better, although it's not terrible; we found the bathroom a bit in need of a cleaning, and also killed a few silverfish in the kitchen. There's also a persistent smell, perhaps from previous cooking? Some air freshener would help. I felt like I was staying at a messy friend's place instead of a rental (which would be free, not $180 a night!) The bedding and towels were clean, but sheets were thin and worn out in places. The main double bed is ok but very squeaky. The fold out single is not good, just too thin a mattress and every spring is felt; I would not recommend using it. The walls could use a fresher, brighter paint job. Also the place is a bit hot, the air con works but just can't cool off the whole place. Finally, the washer and dryer are listed as amenities, but you don't find out til later that they cost $1.75 a load in quarters, and they are four floors away down a dingy basement hallway in a filthy room. We used them and they work fine, just was none too pleasant reading the sign warning about rats down there! We didn't see any.

Now the pluses. The apartment has everything needed, kitchenware, etc., so you can cook or reheat leftovers, etc. Nothing lacking there, even has instant coffee, sugar, salt, tea, etc.. Lots of guidebooks, other books, and games. It's also as quiet as a big city place can be; we heard sirens frequently but didn't hear neighbors ever. The location is the best thing, all tourist sites, restaurants, grocery stores, metro and train stations are within easy walking distance. Easy ride to Fenway, commuter rail outside the city, anywhere you need to go. We also used Uber twice and they had no trouble finding the place. We felt safe within the building, but there are many mentally ill homeless in the area, just have to be aware. We aren't big city people, so most people won't be bothered at all by this.

With a bit of work and some updates on furnishings and decor, plus a thorough super clean. this could be a really sweet place, perfect for enjoying the best of Boston.

Great place. Great location.

The apartment is very nice -- has everything you need -- and is in very good location. It's comfortable and clean.

One thing: There are three flights of steep flights of stairs and carrying heavy luggage up and down would be very hard.

Great position in Boston

  • 3 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in this little top floor apartment. The apartment was well equipped and comfortable for two people - three people might have been a squeeze. It was in a great position, close to Boston Common and within walking distance of markets and most major attractions. The stairs might be a challenge for some people, or if you have a lot of heavy luggage. Thanks to Jeff who was very helpful when we had an issue with the cable T.V. He went out of his way to rectify the problem.

Location Location Location

This cute little apartment is in such an awesome location. Nearly everything you'll want to see in Boston is within walking distance. We had excellent weather and enjoyed our walks through the city to see the sites. The street and the building are very quiet. We never heard nor saw any of the other tenants during our stay. We also enjoyed the roof top deck, which is just a few steps up from the apartment. The unit was just as described. The kitchen had everything that we needed. Loved our stay and would love to come back one day.

Location, location!!!

  • 5 of 5

Great location. Small and cute apartment plenty of space for four people to sleep. We stay there for our daughter graduation and was really good location because it's really close proximity to TD Gardens where graduation ceremony was 5 minutes walk. and it's really close to North end 10 min walk, Newberry Street is about 10 to 15 minutes walk. If you need to grocery store or coffee shop whole foods , Starbucks is just down the street five minutes walk .There is many restaurants and shops in close proximity to the apartmen. Only down it's on the fourth floor it's a little hustle go up and down, but we manage. Only recommendation to the owner is to change mattress set in a bedroom it's really squeaky on every move. It was really pleasant stay I give it five stars.I would stay again. I recommend it .
