House, 2 Bedrooms on lake, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 7 in beds)
We love the open floor plan of the kitchen, dining and living room. The house is about. 1400 square feet finished, convenient one level, and retro decor. We have a detached garage that you are welcome to use as well as anything in it, like the water toys and an adult bike. Toward the east side of the home is the 278-acre Bass Lake, where we enjoy 100 feet of private frontage. Max lake depth is 16' - plenty deep for watersking and tubing. Fishing success is better known for panfish, bass and big pike, but there are muskies and walleye.
We have two story windows overlooking a terraced rock pathway to our pier, bench and seasonal 12' rowboat with 6 horsepower outboard motor. We take the pier out any time after October 15, so if you choose this time period, the pier may or may not be available. The wood fireplace and cathedral ceilings in the living room make this the place where you'll love to hang out. In the summer, the lakeside breeze off the large screen doors is great, but we have two box fans additionally in case you need them. We have eight patio chairs and two lounge chairs on the covered deck overlooking the lake, and a charcoal barbeque. Enjoy privacy on the lake side queen bed bedroom with sliding glass doors. The other bedroom has a double bed and a twin bed. The queen hide-a-bed sofa in the living room sleeps two. We'd like to make your stay very easy to plan, comfortable and enjoyable. We don't allow smoking. Up to two pets are welcome - no more, no exceptions. We furnish two adult life jackets, two child life jackets, water toys, games, puzzles, and a 10-speed bike.
Plan on bringing your own disposable items like paper products, soaps, charcoal and lighter fluid, and we'll supply the clean linens, house towels and kitchen ware. Our dining room table seats six. You'll want to bring your own beach towels, fishing gear, skiis or snowmachine, depending on when you're visiting! Bring a cell phone because there is no phone service or wifi. We have ice cube trays, but you may choose to bring extra ice. Bass Lake has no public boat launch, but your private boat can be tied up at our pier. Big Bass Resort allows you to launch there during restricted times and for a fee. We allow eight people maximum occupancy. A separate, unheated room in the garage that is NOT a bedroom, has a bunk bed set and a queen pull out sofa. Do not plan on using this room as a bedroom as it is not equipped with detectors or heating/cooling.
June, July and August are only available to be reserved for a week at a time, with a Saturday arrival. However, if the calendar shows that we have the week still open, request a three night minimum reservation within two weeks of your arrival. We use a lockbox entry code and you can arrive any time after 3 pm. Your $500 damage deposit is returned if you depart by 10:00 am, general clean up is done, and no unreasonable wear and tear occurs. Our rates include taxes, cleaning and there is no extra pet fee. Make your reservation now and let us help make your vacation dreams come true.

Comfortable and relaxing stay
The view from the bedroom of the lake was lovely and beautiful. We very much enjoyed sitting by the fire pit every evening. The fireplace inside was gorgeous as well. The cabin was big and spacious and comfortable. I didn't love the 70s decor, but I knew that's what it was like going in and it didn't make my say any less enjoyable. I enjoyed that we were up a little higher and had to walk down a path to the lake and up a path back to the house because I did my workout and used that to my advantage. 💪
Hi Leah! Glad you liked the home. It is especially pretty there this time of year. Sounds like you really had a good time! Happy for you and hope you will be back!
Thanks so much for writing a nice review. Our team works hard to make things good for our guests.
Good house, very clean, but a little old.
Almost everything was working fine, except the refrigerator's legs were uneven and had to be adjusted for the refrigerator to not shake. Also, the boat had a tiny leak in It, so water had to be thrown out all the time if you wanted to use the boat. Overall, good place to stay for the price.
Great Time with the Grand Kids....
Just want to comment on our stay at your cottage the week of 7-23-16 / 7-30-16. We had a great time. My 3 grandsons enjoyed the water and especially the fishing. We used the boat and motor to go out on the lake but they also caught several fish right off the dock. They also had fun floating on your tube and "Ski Bob" that we found in the garage.
Overall you have a great place...Very unique and 70ish...We enjoyed our time immensely. We will for sure consider renting your cottage again next year if we come back and if you'll have us. Thank you...
Thanks for the nice review! Of course you're coming back! A bit of nostalgia is good for folks. The record player and retro disco type ball gets you in the mood for fun, eh?
Nice relaxing week at the cabin.
Five of us (all adults) spent a week at the cabin. Very nice accommodations. Beds fairly comfortable - depending on which one of us you ask.
Kitchen has all you need. Any type of dish or utensil for preparing a meal was readily available. We spent the evenings playing cards/games and listening to the extensive vinyl collection available - good opportunity to introduce our 23, 25, and 26 year old "kids" to some really good music.
Having the boat available was real nice. Getting the motor down to the dock and on the boat wasn't a big deal - plenty of muscle available. Ran just fine, started easily, and didn't use much gas at all.
Had to work pretty hard to catch only a few fish. Looking at the hand-drawn map on the cork board accurately displays where the fish seem to be, but they simply weren't biting. If you're using lures and going after northern pike, yellow seems to be the magic color, at least our week it was.
We used the bikes provided too. Had to add air to the tires, but pump was readily available and not a big deal. Ride around the lake is a nice route, but BE READY FOR HILLS. First time around, we weren't - so it made it tough. Second time, a bit easily and more enjoyable.
Upon arrival, we were concerned about cell coverage (one of the kids had a phone interview while up there), but as it turned out, we had reception on our phones no problem (we're on Cricket wireless). Periodically turned on hotspot service from one of the phones and had internet access as needed.
All in all, a very pleasant vacation.
Great, Tim! Thanks for the nice tips about biking and the path around the lake being hilly. That was nice of you to share. I had to smile as I was reading your version of introducing your adult "kids" to the vinyls. Sounds like fun. Thanks for staying and come again. Jo
Great Place for our Pond Hockey Team
Just enough room for a group of 7 guys at a great price. Very Clean. Utility Room was perfect for quick drying hockey gear. Nice location close to Dollar Lake.
Here you go again, Jeff! I'll get you and your team lined up soon. All you have to do is make goals!
Second time just as great as the first!
We spent a grand week at this property, enjoying it thoroughly just like last year. Yes, we are repeat renters. The facility is in excellent shape, well organized and very comfortable. Lake access is excellent, we rented a canoe since we prefer to paddle over rowing. If you like to fish, this is a great option. Hike? Visit the Forest Service location in Eagle River for maps and suggestions. Lounge on the pier and watch the stars, listen to Loons or just enjoy the environment? This is an ideal location. And the management makes it easy! Likely we will visit again next summer.
Just reading your review sounds peaceful! Take me next time!
-Jo, your happy facilitator
