About Belinda Meadows
My name is Robert Galliani. I am a 3rd generation San Franciscan. My wife of 23 years and I have three children ages 20, 22 and 24. We happily and very fortunately live in a beautiful place called Marin County California where our lives are intertwined and revolve around our children. We bought The Blackthorne and continually improve it. We invite people to rent it nightly and weekly to experience this unique, one-of-a-kind, hand made home, which we will keep in our family for generations.
Belinda Meadows purchased this House in 2010
Why Belinda Meadows chose Point Reyes Station
In 1975 a friend of mine who was a Princeton educated engineer and his wife bought a spectacular acre of land next to the Point Reyes National Seashore halfway between the village of Inverness CA and the town of Point Reyes CA. (1 hour from San Francisco). With the help of master craftsmen, he built a spectacular 4-story wood crafted 'castle' resembling a giant tree house that his wife named 'Blackthorne' after the main character in James Clavell's novel SHOGUN. From 1982 to October 2010 they ran it as a very successful and famous B&B. We bought it because the location is heaven on earth. The house is placed adjacent to a a national park surrounded and minutes from some of the best beaches in the world as well as the quaint town of Point Reyes with its fine restaurants and shops and the village of Inverness. 100,000 acres of national park covered with hiking trails is at our doorstep while Tomales Bay is 8 houses down the street and the city of San Francisco is a one hour drive away.

We fled New England's snow and gathered to celebrate a 70th birthday.... 4 couples who have known each other for decades, but Pt. Reyes was new to many. It could not have been a better stay! Between the comfort and beauty of the Blackthorne, our daily hikes in the park, exploring the delights of Pt. Reyes Station ( don't miss the buffalo milk soft serve at the Palace Market ) and relaxing on the decks, by the fire and in the hot tub, we can't wait to return. The house itself was spotless, the gardens in glorious bloom, the beds so comfortable and the bird and moon watching sublime. 'Tis such a place as dreams are made of. Unforgettable! Many, many thanks!
Great place for gathering with friends
Charming, quirky and comfortable place to relax and cook good food.
Beautiful property - wonderful family vacation!
This property is super. The house is beautifully crafted, incredible landscaping (like staying in the treetops), very tastefully decorated, nice beds and linens, kitchen well stocked, clean and lots of conveniences, and tons of space for everyone. We had 3 families together and the two with children had their own floor basically. Plus Blackthorne is located close to town and sites to visit on Pt Reyes peninsula. We loved staying here and hope to do it again in a year or so. Thank You!
Wonderful property in Point Reyes
We had a great time staying at this place. It is close to Point Reyes National Seashore and Oyster Trail at Tomales Bay. There are stores and restaurants in the vicinity of the house. The owner sent us detailed instructions before we checked in. Heated hot tub and stone fireplace with lots of firewood kept us warm on cold March nights.
A truly unique imaginative home reflecting its natural environment
Having enjoyed a weekend stay at the Blackthorne many years ago when it was a B&B, I chose it as the location for a writers' retreat with 6 writers who would be working on their own book projects during the days and sharing meals and conversation at night. We all loved the inviting great room and its fireplace, the many spots to read on the outside decks, the thoughtful landscaping that offered surprises depending on where you stood, the hot tub and outdoor shower...there was so much to enjoy. My only suggestion for improvement would be to replace the twin beds with one full bed or to get full-length twin mattresses, as they really were not long enough for adults to sleep on comfortably. Otherwise we were completely delighted with our stay.
Awesome weekend with 6 couples
We had the Crow’s nest. Everyone loved the place! Hot tub was clean and the house was in good condition. Went to Hog Island on Saturday and bbq’d oysters. The weather was perfect as well! Couldn’t have been a better time! Thanks
