Overview

Sonoma County House Rental Photos and Description

House, Two Bedrooms, Library/Media Room, 2 Full Baths, 1/2 Bath (Sleeps 4-6)

HGTV included this house in its ‘Dream Home Sonoma' program as one of the beautiful homes of Sonoma. This custom-designed property, perfect for one or two couples looking for a wine country retreat, is located one block from the historic Sonoma Plaza with its tasting rooms, specialty shops, and restaurants. Leave your car at home and walk to everything.

Open the front gate. Walk along the curvy flagstone path and up a few steps to the sunny front porch. Open the double French entrance doors and you will find a home that is beautiful, immaculate, and relaxing.

The 'Great Room' has high ceilings, stunning reclaimed wood floors, a gas fireplace, and comfortable leather seating. The dining area features an 8' long French farm table with seating for eight. The fully-appointed kitchen was designed for the gourmet chef and is perfect for entertaining.

The house has 2 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed and ensuite bath. The upstairs bedroom has a queen bed and adjacent bath. Linens and tableware are luxurious. The library/media room, offering comfort and privacy, has a comfortable Queen sofa sleeper, 55' 'Smart' TV, gas fireplace, and adjacent half bath. Central heat/air conditioning and wireless internet are provided.

The house was built with our planet in mind. Green features include an on-demand hot water system, all Energy Star appliances, energy-efficient windows and walls, ceiling fans, and clean gas-burning fireplaces. The floors are custom Beech reclaimed from a former tobacco barn and 150-year old Midwest barn beams have been reused as fireplace mantels.

Outside is an award-winning garden that is a friendly haven for butterflies, birds, and gorgeous blooms accented by a softly burbling fountain.

Please check the calendar and terms before making inquiry. To be in compliance with City of Sonoma zoning regulations, we only rent for a minimum of 30 days. Thank you for understanding.

About Winnie

We live about an hour away from Sonoma. Our interests include photography, travel, art, reading, cooking, gardening, cycling, and, of course, wine! We designed and built this house in 2008 as our country retreat. We enjoy sharing it with others who love the wine country as we do. When we are at Chez Winnie, we enjoy some of the best wine tasting in the Valley, then walk to one of our favorite restaurants on the Plaza, perhaps watch a film at the Sebastiani Theater, and stop for ice cream on the walk home. It couldn't be better.

Winnie purchased this house in 2008

Why Winnie chose Sonoma County

There are many beautiful vacation homes in Sonoma, but few capture the unique charm of life in the wine country like Chez Winnie -- and there are very few within walking distance of the Plaza.

If we want an adventure, there are so many things to do. Sonoma County was the first wine region in California. It enjoys a 55 mile picturesque coastline, beautiful redwoods, and is dominated by established lineages of family-owned vineyards and wineries.

Interestingly, approximately 35% of all Bay Area and Wine Country Michelin-rated restaurants are in our wine country.

What makes this house unique

A new home on one of the most charming streets in Sonoma, a beautiful garden, and one block from wonderful restaurants, wine tasting, and shops. As a recent guest said, 'When you step inside, you will realize that this is much more than a place to stay; it's like living the Sonoma experience to the fullest.'

Comfort and Style

  • 5 of 5

Having stayed at Chez Winnie five times, one could not ask for more! Gracious and attentive owners, prime location, and a well appointed home in the heart of wine country. As soon as one walks through the front door it speaks of home. Warm and comfortable with everything you could wish for. Gardens with an abundance of roses, herbs, and the scent of wisteria. Sipping wine under the pergola or coffee on the front porch becomes a way of life. Sonoma life at its best!

5 Star plus!!!

  • 5 of 5

The month of Feb. 2015 was by far, one of our greatest vacations. We rented Chez Winnie on the recommendation of another friend and she did not steer us wrong! Talk about location...you could not have asked for a more perfect spot. The front porch and comfortable rocking chairs offered us the opportunity to enjoy morning coffee or evening wine. The house sits on a quiet street within a short walk of the town square. Restaurants, bakeries, post office, library, movie theater, grocery stores and boutique stores are all at your finger tips. We even walked to local wineries! The town and towns people are lovely. We found this to be true of all the towns we visited and because the location is so perfect, we drove off to explore a different town almost everyday. Hiking was superb. The layout of the house is quite comfortable and because the bedrooms are located on two different floors, it offers privacy to more than one couple. We found the furnishings to be well cared for, the house was immaculate and the kitchen was very well appointed. It was difficult leaving and we look forward to another Chez Winnie adventure.

GREAT SONOMA EXPERIENCE

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Chez Winnie for an entire month in July and what a fantastic experience. Chez Winnie is a 5-Star residence within 2 blocks of the Square. The house is not your typical rental. It has all the appointments of a home away from home, including a wonderful backyard garden, a relaxing front porch and a trellis sitting area to watch life go by in Sonoma.

The beds were very comfortable with fine linens and bedding. The master bathroom was spacious and the walk in shower was terrific.

We ate most of our meals in with an ocassional walk to some of the finest restaurants found in Sonoma County. The kitchen with it's Wolf range and the outside bar-b-que grill made preparing meals a delight and not a chore.

Great wi-fi and Direct TV.

We could not have asked for a better rental than Chez Winnie and the best part was the communication and friendship we developed with Winne - she is the BEST!

Par Excellence

  • 5 of 5

Charm, comfort, and convenience best describe the abundant gifts Chez Winnie has to offer. Nestled within a garden which is a feast for the eyes, it is a true refuge offering peace, relaxation, and tranquility. We could choose a lazy morning, book and coffee in hand, on the front porch or a lingering afternoon under a wisteria laden pergola sipping a fine wine from the region. Just a block away, we strolled around the historic Sonoma Plaza with its fine restaurants which satified our discerning palates. Whatever beckoned us, wineries and vineyards, breathtaking views along accessible hiking trails, walking to the weekly farmer's market, biking on a paved path or back country roads, or sampling a delicious local cheese,

were within a stone's throw. The house's interior is lovely and meticulously cared for tastefully decorated and well equipped. It's owners exude warmth and welcome, attention to details and helpfulness. They have made our stay at Chez Winnie over the past four years memorable and an invitation to return time and time again.

The memories will linger....

  • 5 of 5

30 April 2014

Dear Winnie & Bob,

Once again we leave Sonoma and your beautiful home filled with gratitude for how fortunate we are to have had this opportunity. The physical surroundings of both Sonoma and your home are elegant and at the same time filled with warmth. You are so generous to open your home to us and also open your hearts in friendship.

The words that surround the daily experiences are connection and community. Each year it becomes more clear what a unique place Sonoma is. This was the best year yet!

The memories will linger…

With Heart,

Diane & Mike
